EVGA X58 3X SLI Classified MB waterblock installed
-
temp comparison before and after
-
Very nice!
What kind of temps are you getting?
-
Oh shiiii. That thing is gorgeous :)
-
Aaaauw that is so pretty !
-
Very very nice! I was wondering....Do you have to use the thermal pads or can you use thermal grease? I would think you would get better temps with some MX2 or something.
-
Nice, that is some sexy block for a a great Motherboard, congratulations :)
Whats is the lowest chip at the bottom cooled by the block ?

Thermal pad is for other minor chips, for X58 chips, NF-200 and South Bridge, I applied some MX2 for sure. :)
As you see, my loop is first go to a 4GHz i7 920 CPU and then goes to the MB waterblock, so warm water is going into it....the temperature will be expected to be a bit higher. :)
It is priming now, system temp = 40-41C constantly, 28(ambient temp), idle is something about 37-38C. Now I don't need to use a fan to blow the north bridge heatsink, silent!! :D
-
Koolance has certainly turned around lately :)
Freaking gorgeous.
-
-
Any internals? I heard that water doesn't flow through the entire block, but only through the NB area.
-
No mosfet block? What temps are you getting on the mosfets? I went from 85+ down to mid 60s when i switched to the koolance x58 blocks.
-
Koolance, I take my hat off to you. Your recent stuff is da bomb.

which block did you use for the mosfets? the one which koolance recommends?

yea, koolance is slowly but surely gaining a foothold in the water cooling community again

BEOYTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
mine comes in a few hours!
But yeah nice show... u beat me to it by a couple of hours!

I should be getting everything soon. I'll post internals if you guys want because im painting the plate red.
But dean personally mailed out my stuff and i lost the race in installing them.
Dean!!

are you using different 7/16" tubings? it looks like the tube connecting the CPU block to the chipset block is more clear than the other tubes. or are they all tygon? and it doesn't look like you have any kinking problem even with that tight radius bend. can you quickly measure the distance between the two barbs connecting the NB to the CPU? much thanks!

I think no, from the block there is a X58 marked, you can look into the block inside.
I did not open the block, just hurry to install it.

Just I feel that the heat transfer from the Vtt PWM to water block is not doing very good, I still feel hot from that area.

Yes, they are all tygon R3603 1/2" ID, 3/4" OD.
Because, the other tube are older. So it look the one is more clear! :D
About 110mm c/c

i wont have time to install these til this weekend. But there going on its own loop.
BRB ima paint my steel top.
Dean, the mosfet block is also plugged on one side with some seal, what is it?
-
Wow, the Koolance block looks great inside. Just as nice as the ones for the R2E...too bad the Classified doesn't look as nice as the R2E. :sofa:
-
Looks hawt ;)
Tubing looks really good also, now just put your card on water

paint still looks wet on the FB block. :hammer:
I only have one gripe about the look of the block...but this is just personal taste. The screw heads around the block just don't look right, I wish the would be flush to the top plate.

How can you tell? He has the photog skillz of Ray Charles. :p::rofl:
NaeKuh, I think I heard you chuckle at that, I can't be sure because your blocks are too loud.

NAekuh, is that block pitted around the O-ring? I can't tell from the pics, but it looks like it's either pitted, or there's some type of funky residue on the block.
I highlighted what I'm talking about:
http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/t...e/IMG_1368.jpg
-
its a type of grease.
I think its meant to hold in place when they seal it.
i cleaned it off with soap and water b4 i assembled the block.

Its a silicone grease used to help it make a better seal :)
(It does help install it alot too)

Nice paint job, NaeKuh!

i want to change my computer name to eclair....

Very nice looking block, especially when painted, but it seems to me like the stock heatsink does a good job of controlling temps. I only use the rear case fan directed across the vreg heatsink. I can't even hear the fan as my radiator fans make a bit more noise even on low. Since we can't get a reading on the northbridge except in BIOS maybe it helps there.http://img.techpowerup.org/090506/Temps @ 4K.jpg

I really like that Koolance provides an acrylic top for all their new all in one motherboard blocks.
You really can't beat it for the price.

actually i wish the acrylic was thicker.
im scared to take apart my block again in worries im gonna snap the acrylic.

Those mosfet temps seem really low. Try cranking the voltage up into the 1.45v area and use 1067 frequency. I went water on the board because i was getting 85+ temps at the mosfet.
-
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the block as I think it gives a very nice clean look. On the same board I think it probably would give a bit better temps, but I don't think you really need it with the Classified if the heatsink is seated correctly, unless the NB temps are shooting up and we don't know it. I already had a run at 1.48 volts so here it is.http://img.techpowerup.org/090506/Temps at 4.5.jpg

those are good temps..but i fail to see any n/b temps in those screens..im sure if you load it some then check bios you may be surprised..before my block with a re timmed stock h/s.. it was normal to see 75 c in bios{same as b4 retim}..with the block installed i havent been able to catch a temp over 45 yet..it was common place to see nb bios temps 20 c hotter than vreg ..this at a 4.0 oc..yes i had fans on the stock heat sink as well...
-
i love the 4890 in the classified :p:
-
squishee,
I don't know of a way to read Northbridge temps on a desktop with this board. If you know one(other than adding some sort of temp probe), please tell.
I just ran LinX for a few minutes with CPU temps in low 60s and Vreg reading 48 on desktop. I have my fans on low so my temps may be a little higher now. I shut down and immediately went to BIOS. Vreg temp was at 45 and NB was 48. I know this in not accurate for load but its the best I know how.

Lavalys Everest?
-
Everest gives a reading for the Northbridge but its not the Northbridge. I haven't used Everest on this build yet but I believe that Everest picks up the temp from vreg or cpu and just calls it the NB temp. The only way to see the NB temp currently is in BIOS or maybe with a sensor. Even with the waterblock you still won't know your NB temps. It should be easy to see any difference in idle temps for the NB in the BIOS if you check your temps before installing the block.
-
-
DAMN!!! That looks awesome!
-
my entire board setup is koolance now.
only my gpu and pump fixtures are non koolance.
-
-
Nice mod Naekuh. Sick block
-
Just as a heads up with those QDs, mine leak a fair amount of water when disconnecting. You really sure you want them on top of the board like that? Also, i got a leak over the weekend when one didnt seal itself correctly. I was not pleased.
-
oh i know they leak a little.
That why i cover them with tissue b4 i pull off.
And u didnt screw it in tight enough huh? I had that happen once or it got loose when i attached the QD and jolted it loose.
-

No see thats the thing, it was fully clicked in. I had to disconnect it and reconnect it, then it sealed.

ask dean for an RMA.
sounds like a bad QD then.
You guys want idle and load shots of my vregs when PWM freqency is blasted at the highest?
-
I have been running it for a hour before put on MB, then test it again after mounting to the MB without switching on the PC, of course with a lot tissue :D...it is a safer way, I think! :)
-
Stock heatsink NB Temp from BIOS, it will boost to 6XdegC when I o/c my 920 to 5GHz.

-
Grrr must flash bios... then i'll come back with 5. :T
-
On the Koolance NB block - does it have specific inlet/outlet ports, or doesn't it matter?
-
dont think it really matters.
-
Okay, I'm either blind or...
Does the Koolance NB block cover one of the mobo mounting screw holes? I have an extra screw but can't seem to find the last mount hole.

It uses the same exact holes of the original NB heatsink + the two holes of the small heatsink
You get an extra screw...:up::D
-
Mine came in the mail today. Have we found out how to see the NB temps from within Windows?

Yeah LOL
I found a pic of a stock EVGA Classified and found the mounting hole just below the stock NB sink (center-right) is covered by the Koolance block. Not a big deal, I was just going crazy figuring out where that last screw went!
-
NaeKuh or Rambler have u tried installing sound card like Creative X-fi titantium after mounting that Koolance block?
I've got mine Classified but i'm not sure if it will fit after mounting that block and tubing.

mmmmm might be close...
would have to depend on how thick of a tubing you were running, and if you were using compressions or not.
