cool case and nice layout design, more pics :)
Hey all, just wanted to check in and let you all know that I am taking my panels to the waterjet tomorrow @ 8am so I should have pics by noon ^^
:toast:Like what i see so i`ll stick around :)
its noon!!!!! :)
I know....,
I went to talk to the guy who runs the waterjet yesterday and he sprung on me that he definitely could not do it today so Its gonna be friday or possibly next week when it gets done :(
I offered him extra payment to put in some extra time for me so hopefully I can get the cuts ASAP. Sorry bout the false info :\
Take your time :D BTW, I think window in the top panel might be a good idea if you are not planning on installing rads on there. But it seems like not enough space on top for the rads.:p:
I have yet to decide between lighting the build with an electric source or going for natural lighting... I have only so much time on the waterjet and just the panels I am making so far are pushing it. I think if I make a top panel mod (likely) it will be done by hand
also, I have a big announcment coming with another sponsor coming later :up::up:
That's going to be awesome:D Also, is the top panel going to be "smoked"?
this build is going to be EPIC!
Well the time has come guys for me to announce my newest SPONSOR for Project Flow!!

Thank you very much EK for your assistance in making this project come to life!

Nice sponsors you got there. You got lots of cutting to do :) looking good though.
Loads of sponsors, not much work , Come on :)
His case is getting waterjet cuts.. Don't rush :D
yeah man, I'm sorry, its pre-finals week here at school ;) not only am I lacking the most basic tools to do mods here but I've got a ton of work + tests every 2 days (2 this morning )
as soon as I get home on the 6-7th may this project is gonna hit full tilt.
Its an EK waterblock party! It looks good so far.
This will be great!
congrats on the big sponsor man! Maybe I should take a road trip out to Beverly this summer to see some MDPC's in action
cool, i may have to do that
The waterjet cutter at my school broke down today... no ETA on the cuts and they may not get done before I leave for home... delays-delays-delays.... never fear I will find a way!
I'm sure this is going to be very awsome build :) Can't wait for more pics.
I have just sourced at least 3 waterjet cutting shops servicing low volume and specialty orders within 45minutes of my home :D
NICE, wish I had that kind of access, lol..best I've got is one of my sister's friends dad paints cars,trucks,bikes...etc for a living, and has had a bunch of his work featured in car mags, and at one time I bounced my powder coating idea off him, and he told me that if I was ever interested in getting it painted, that he'd love to as he's never painted a computer case before and would love to add it to his portfolio (aka...low to no cost paintjob!)
and i'm still trying to figure out the final design, lol...it'll come to me after it's complete
Hardware update here:
I won a AMD Phenom II 955 BE over at TechREACTION.net in a contest to promote the forum so I ordered the super sexy MSI 790fx-GD70 AM3 board to match it with :D
http://www.twcarpc.com/photo/wwm/2009/MGD70/MGD7003.jpg
its gonna fit so perfectly with the color scheme its not even funny
Oh baby:p: That DOES fit the color scheme:D I thought you were going to use the i7, but AMD is a good choice also:)
I wanted to go i7 but all things considered I didn't want to do multiple loops in this build and I most certainly did not want to have to deal with LCing mosfets and the chipset again.
I also was well into the running for winning the CPU so I kinda planned around it
no waterjet cuts yet? btw all college schedules are about the same amiright?
Well, AMD is making excellent CPUs currently. I think I might as well go into phenomII for my next build:rolleyes:
yeah, I am currently talking to pierce ALU close to boston about getting the cuts done there, I should be getting a quote from them tomorrow... thing is these cuts are much more complex than permafrost's side panel so I hesitate to think that I could actually successfully execute them on the school waterjet even if it was working.... I think a professional solution is better to say the least.
Great looking board. I should give AMD a try and play around with it for a while, but I've been loving the i7 platform so much. I don't think water cooling the chipset and mosfets is necessary but I see where you're coming from.
Be careful when shopping for a water jet cutter. I went to a few different places and knew I couldn't trust at least 2 of them. Most shops do large volume and their quality is rough to say the least. The tricky part is, you have to find somebody who cares.
SNiiPE, once again, i envy your build. I am crossing my fingers that a PII will show up on my doorstep some day!
Tomorrow I will be taking Pictures of:
-EK Waterblocks Shipment (arrived at my house today, shipped out from slovenia on monday :D)
-MSI 790FX-GD70
-AMD Phenom II 955 BE from TechReaction.net
As promised A picture update.
more coming as I rebuild the photo set to work better on a day to day basis - the banks I were using were too small to shoot anthing glossy properly ;)
First the motherboard and CPU:

Very nice pictures Ian
I cant wait for the assembling stage :yepp:
Well I have some more good news - After I get back from my trip to france (may12-20) I will beginning work at my girlfriend's father's company as a CAD designer and a semi IT guy. I talked to him today and he told me that I have access to a 12hp CNC router at the factory and I can use it whenever I like free of charge. I will be cutting all my panels on this router So now the 600 dollars I had set aside for waterjet cutting is free up for other uses :D
Good deal!!!!
I need to buddy up with someone that has a CNC.:kissbutt:
Thats great news!
Have a fantastic holiday! :)
Looking interesting, SNiiPE.
Am debating using the EK Supreme on my AMD build - didn't think about taking the accelerator plate out - thanks for that idea.
Thanks guys and gals, and yeah shazza I think it should perform more like the LT with a better flow rate which is what I'm gonna need with the 2 GPU blocks in the loop.
I'll be doing lots of work on actually modding when I get back from Paris - and pictures from the trip will go up in this thread as well!
cheers,
-Ian
Had some fun on the new photo set last night - set up a proper strobe system and a bigger light bank. Gave you guys some large Jpegs as well becuase these came out too nice to be size 1280x1024 :D
Also - Meet my new "photo feature" more of a build helper really :D he will be featured in all of the build photos from here on out

Damn nice photos Ian. I love how big they are and how they fill up my screen. I never noticed that there was a metal plate on top of the delrin on this special edition.
Very nice photos there Ian, can't wait to see how you go with everything installed (guess I am getting impatient with mine seeing as I'm no where near completion yet hehe).
Thanks Dreamaxx
so here's a photo I took while I decided to shoot a gray card for the photo set tonight - thought it was neat so I will share it . The hedgehog was looking a bit dusty in the last photos so I gave him a good cleaning for this shot. He really refracts a lot of light, I had to surround the set in with foam core in order to get him to be perfectly clear like that.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1496/flow0753.jpg
Edit: PS - So long all, for a week, Demain je vais allé sur l'avion au L'aeroport Charles de'gaulle! (may not be my best french but I am fluent once I've been there for a few days :D)
Have a nice trip Ian.
what kinda dslr you got?
The 2 recent posts we shot with a Canon 5D mkII, the former with a 35mm lens @ available light + Elichrom banks overhead used for the set. The latter was shot with a 50mm lens and a single 4 foot dome Elinchrom bank on a 1000watt/sec pack set to flash on setting 150. Later on I will be shooting with a Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3 for overall case shots as I complete the modding parts. To have a photo set in the studio large enough to shoot the case with lighting would take up nearly all the free space I have so I will only be taking full strobe lit shots of the case once I have it completed (that may change )
well you have it planned out really well. Photography is half of what is needed to make a really nice presentation of a Xtreme PC,
SNiiPE, have a good trip....and for crying out loud, behave yourself over there. We want you to come back to us. :p:;)
Loved your previous biuld Sniipe.. Will def. be looking at this one
Hi SNiiPE_DoGG
Juste one question. Of course it is maybe a stupid one, but anyway...
I was always impressed by people that get sponsoring, like you, from Lian Li or EK. But, how do you do this? Do you work for them?
Thanks for your reply Ian, I'm actually working on a P80 Armorsuit, and was astonished by the work you did on your Permafrost (which i cannot find on MDPC anymore)
cheers ;)
I imagine he cut his teeth doing builds without sponsors, and then sponsors started climbing on board once he built his portfolio up.
He might have lost a few with that pink fan, though... JK! :D
I think Ian had a fall out with Nils, it's stilll on there, just not linked from the front page.
Yeah but I came to XS hoping he'd still have the link in his signature, but that's not the case...
Well I have been building for about 3 years with visual modifications and making "nice looking" builds. After Permafrost I got in contact with lian-li via their forum and went through a vetting process where I compiled a portfolio and worked with a contact there to receive sponsorship. Once I got the case I began designing, starting worklogs on many sites, and sending more emails with my portfolio and seeking sponsorship. Its all about salesmanship and convincing the company you are proposing a sponsorship deal with that you are worth them sending you a part or parts.
you know you liked the pink fan :p: geeze that thing is gonna haunt me forever isn't it? :D
All is well now :) :toast: Nils and I have resolved our differences
anywho, you can see the pictures and the entire build and photos here on XS:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=202460
Okay thanks a lot SNiiPY ;)
I'll post my worklog (already started like 3 months ago on different sites). Thanks for your help, I'll try to do my best, I think you're a good example for us all, because personnaly, I can see in your works that you care about each detail. As we know, details make difference, and that's particularly what I like in your mods! :)
enough with politics...
Great looking build so far sNiiPE with lots of cool sponsors. Looking forward to the next photographic update!
Personally, i didn't think your last build was anything special. Seen loads of normal builds, powder coated, water cooled, sleeving, and waterjet panel. You only need to go take a look at some of the german forums, to show how much must people builds aren't really that great.
Excellent photos Ian *jealous of your 5D MkII :p:*. I hope your trip over in France goes well, good luck with the rest of your build.
bentleya: That wasn't really necessary to post ...
that is a wonderful compliment mate, thank you very much :bows:
you know I cant wait either :p: I have had so many ideas and inspirations being here in Paris and see so much beautiful art work and sculpture :D
and thanks for the kind words on my public messages  :)
thanks metric - if its any consolation, I am jealous of your maxwell render work :p:
Nils if you would review my posts, I have never criticized murdermod without first praising it. I do think it is beautiful and I think Charles' work is genius. If it is an "insult" to criticize some parts of things and praise the rest, then sue me, because nothing is ever perfect in life and criticisms can only improve us.
This is one of a few builds I'm watching as im working away on mine...wishing I had access to lots of the cool stuff most of y'all do, here I am, cutting a top plate for my Xigmatek using a dremel, files, and a drill, it's turning out ok, but if i had the talent/tools you do, it would have been done hours ago, lol
either way, kudos on the sponsors/great work man
I didn't say you couldn't have your opinion mate :D In fact I was quite nice considering that you insulted me pretty overtly there.
I love to see peoples great ideas and beautiful builds so why don't you post your work up?
Edit: thanks Dragoon :D I like to work by hand too when I can but I like the CNC. You will see some things later on in this build that just cant be CNCed ;) particularly the "thing" in the 5.25" bays - cant say what it is now but I know I will be writing CyberDruid a PM for some tips of the trade about constructing it.
psst SNiiPE, I don't think you challenging other people is really helping your anti-insult gathering any O.o
just a suggestion?
 See from where i stand, this build here is more planned out an more unique, and this is what i like, i'm not into basic mods that most people do, but on saying that i really like a nice clean euro style if done right.
From you drawings, you have get my attention, as i can proberoly guess threes going to be custom acrylic and lighting.
But as soon as body filler is brought on to a mod, i'm all eyes :).
I like your idea not using the accelerator plate in the supreme.
I currently have my supreme apart and was thinking about trying it without the plate.
Is it possible that you have any temp comparisons yet? either of your own or from somewhere else?
That being said, I can't wait to see how it will turn out and it is looking great so far.
I assume from looking at the design differences the supreme without the plate will perform the same or minimally worse than the supreme LT. The LT has no plate but its inlet is on one side of the micro channels and outlet on the other - while the supreme has a center inlet with an outlet on one side. I have no Idea if this will affect performance at all - but I can say that it could affect it.
Bought 2 XFX black PCB 4890's with 6+8-pin power yesterday - got a 30gb OCZ vertex and an enermax rev 950w so that I can set up a test bench ;)
Also PermaFrost is back up on MDPC as Nils and I have come to agreement and resolve of our differences :D  :toast: :toast:
Sorry for all watching us "being stupid" here and there: You will see that all will be better than ever before and we can and will do better - all in the spirit of MDPC and modding in general. :)
*hallmark music tone plays* group hug!
yes...I am freely willing to admit that I'm a dork....but hey, now the drama llama can go pack up and find a new home
WOOHOO! on to build log stuff again! have fun across the pond sNiiPe
Update, parts!
I've been sitting on this one for a few days - I went out with my buddies here at home and a day and some hours of mayhem ensued

or is it?
God that is such a gorgeous looking psu, is that a tach cable in the 3rd from last picture?
We need cuts man, CUTS.
The finish on that Enermax is to die for. Also, the units they have been putting out lately are getting A+ in the performance department.
Wow, so want that psu =p.
No offence, but I think you're color scheme just died...
Revolution + XFX = Black + Red
Mobo = Black + Blue
=/
Ian, got a question about picture number 1, you postprocessed it in some way, or does the 50@ F/3.5 produce co thin DOF, that only the XXX edition is sharp ( or am I just blind? ) . Nice looking, waiting for updates ...
Nice Pictures Ian, Would you mind showing us, the photo area :), Lights, Back Ground ETC :)
I don't mind the red, it breaks on trough the standard color sheme
snipe, macro lens?
what photo equipment are you using?
just purchased a Canon XSi and loving it... waiting on my Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO HSM IF Macro Lens...
Dude, your parts just look amazing!! Can't wait for the first pix of the project! ;)
don't mind my ranting ian, but are you planning to change the crossfire connector? :p:
good photos you have there! keep it up! maybe another MDPC in the works perhaps Nils? ;)
Coming along nicely, SNiiPE. I see that PSU going nicely in some of the red and black Classified builds going up these days.
Just got the 5DMII for my birthday ... very nice camera!
thanks mate, yes the 50 @ 3.5 produces the thin DOF which I centered on the XXX intentionally ;)
thanks :)
today I will take pictures of the whole set  my girlfriend is at my house right now so I don't have time ;)
As others have noted (and I have a post earlier on about this) I am using a Canon 5d mkII with a 50mm f1.4 lens. the last shot with the mobo is shot with a 24-70 f2.8 macro zoom
thanks man  :D
see above ;) good job being resourceful
most certainly the 50mm f1.4 :)
ah well you will see what will happen later ;) something along the lines of a stealthing plate
and its not an MDPC yet! I havent even done any modding :p: :yepp:
