Low clock 3D Pedro's Game style...

HW really is getting out of control lately with multi cards/cpus/cores.. it's nice to get back to the real original art...Pedro's game 2k1 style :D

This was fun to do and for sure still learning. Really want 100K with less than 4600mhz on this E8200 and 9800gtx's moderately clocked on air. Not about high clock but high effeciency..translation = Pedro's game. I'm learning myself. Post em' up. Maybe around 4.6 cap on cpu and 1475fps or so on nature.
Air cooling isn't required on cpu and and please no mipmap/hardpage BS.

EVGA 790iSLI is screaming no doubt. Best I can do so far stuck with multi 8X

E8200 AIR / EVGA 790iultra SLI
EVGA 9800GTX SLI AIR stock cooled

Damn nice, I guess its not worth trying to install Win2K for that extra bit of a boost?

AFAIK, win2k gave no benefit with DirectX9 and 10 cards

no, but I've been benching only 2D, so I need a proper card for 3D, 9800GTX should be the choice probably :)

Win2k and SLI is a no go, thats why its not the perfect solution ;)

Looks good Vince, try running 1024 res desktop, might help another 50... :)
Could be interesting to see how low CPU freq will do the job!

How the hell did you get 173.x on the 9800GTX? With *.inf modding? When me & Moonman were benching the 9800GTX we were so horribly affected by very low CH & stuttering we couldn't even pass 98k mark -> http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=183424

I see some potential 500 points laying there to pick them up :) They regard:
- your desktop
- benchmark sequence
- 'certain' bandwidth

There's still a possibility to pick up some more MHz out of your chip directly from your OS.

LL looks a bit low too, i get a good boost if i start with that test, anyway nice score@clock ;)

Sure you can join metro, this isnt a competition for highest score, but more like sp1m low clock challenge. Run what ya brung :D

LL can be higher yes, but it will sack more important tests if starting with LL, I experienced this recently when I tried GX2 :)

But especially LH and CH need the greatest amounts of CPU power ;) Something like N – CH – LH – DL – DH – LL – CL or LH - LL - CH - DL - DH - CL - N or CH - LL - LH - DL - DH - N - CL should do the job ;) Run CL a lot of times till you find the " sweet " run ;) :D Try 10 x 76 (bench resolution), of course you should kill explorer.exe ... Nature likes more VGA core MHz, when Dragos like more VGA memory MHz ...

Interest thing 9800GTX about have same performance as 8800GTS 512MB, but 173.67 driver give very-very lot boost for 9800GTX in nature...I have almost same results as 9800GTX in all test, but nature is slower 100-150fps. :(

Whichever is the FIRST test that you test (the first from the test sequence), no matter which is that, it's going to be higher than normal ;) For example as M.Beier says if you first run LL, LL will be higher than when you test it in this order : N – CH – LH – DL – DH – LL – CL ;)

Run the test with the lowest FPS first. I always run CH first as it's the hardest one, the lowest FPS and worth FPS x20 points :)

I'd be a little more strict ( CPU & VGA freq's given ), but strict CPU & free VGAs is also fine.

Guys, 322FPS CH @ 4.58GHz is more than good actually.

Gonna join the "club" soon ( gotta get some of my cards back from a friend )

p.s. The "gun" has fired once Vince, and it's 9800GTX @ 1068MHz Core at UnKnOwN Voltage ( rushed everything, including insulation, mods, measurement points, etc ) @ all 3D benches @ -52C ( -53C is coldbug ) :D

Now I prefer N->LH, because its the two tests that are more likely to crash when pushing CPU/RAM...
BUT.... Running DL at first use to be beneficial.... - and after each run, deleting 01SE, rebooting, reinstalling, and then running again, we all remember that 5-9FPS gain now dont we? :) but thats 50-90marks, when around the 100K mark, other things are more beneficial to do....

Nobody said anything about running DL first. Nature can in some cases give a boost by running it first. Imo with the 8800 series that was the thing to do. With gx2 i dont see that boost, and its therefor useless for me to start with...in my opinion....different hardware different settings and tweaking.....

01 is all about finding the bottleneck of your system. Once you've found it, you can tweak the run order, tweak memory timings and so on.

Pedro will show up sooner or later I'm sure of it :D

Now my 790i / E8500 still are on cascade where I did recently did the "Best of The Rest" - i.e. the best 2K1 result in the ORB without counting Mr. k|ngp|n results :D

Did 114.737 with the E8500 on the cascade and 2 9800GTX's stock - see http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...0&postcount=36

115 is so so close, I may do it in the the next run...


My best "All Air" 9800GTX run was 99.760 I think, I have the screen cap somewhere in the bench disk - used E8500 @ 4.6 cooled by Tuniq / 9800GTX's 825-1240 stock..

I will try the 100K "All Air" as soon I dismount the setup from the cascade, but 1st I must do 115K with CPU on cascade :D

In Lobbies (my favorite tests of the game) I always use the best memory timmings I can and the best performance level the mobo can give ..hello ..hello Mr. Voltage :D

CH - It's CPU, memory and luck ...set priority to high may help your luck

Dragos nowdays is much more CPU/FSB than GPU Core/Mem ..believe me extra CPU/FSB can help you more than extra GPU speed..

CL is random as you all know, altought I have a "tweak" to force my luck - pray to OC goods for a good Car Low and pray for the dam thing dont crash :rofl:

In Nature with SLI the CPU speed still count, but must important is of cousre GPU Core/Mem speed ..

The key for good runs also is Bios optmization, in 790i settings like HTT Multipliers and specilly SPP-MCP Ref Clock have great impact !

In short all counts and that's why 2K1 is :

I used the one that Billy(benchzowner) linked to somewhere on XS Search for 173.67

I am going to try to join you guys tonight and see what I can push as far as effenciency out of my setup.

It will have to be all air, and no more than 3.4Ghz on the AMD X2 and 800/2400 on the 98GTX just to push stuff a bit on the hardware. I don't have a current run at the moment for my 98GTX recorded on the orb to base off of. But I will definately trying to break past my 350HTT on my AM2 and see if I can hit 400HTT. You guys wish me luck, Ill take what I learned here and see how it goes.

I've been using my own "tweak" to get a good CL fast myself lately:

When you start CL, the car goes to the right and hits a bump in the road, making the car shake and out of course.

When the car hits that bump (after 5-8sec I think), hit ESCAPE and directly press ENTER twice. All you do is quit the game test and quickly go back into the game test. That gives me a relatively good CL to start off with so my end score will be already quite good.

OK some AMD Action: Pushing for 50K then I won't feel so bad about my AMD setup if it will get half of what your SLI setups are doing.

So I did just a bit of bios tweaks to get a nice even 3410Mhz with DDR2-974 @ 5-5-4-12-1T, HTT at 1240Mhz

PCI-E bus @ 100Mhz / LOD @ 3.6 / Driver Set To High Performance

Of course 687 FPS is a really good score for 3870X2 - Nature ;) I was talkin' though about ATi VGAs in general ... They perform poorly in Nature, so the overall score is seriously damaged ... ;)

You should first run CH or LH, they are are the most demanding in terms of cpu and memory power ;) Hence, the final outcome is better when one of 'em is run first ... Others prefer CH, others LH ;)

ATi VGAs Nature score is given a considerable boost when using LoD +3.6 ;)

on this game everything is important and thats it that makes it so fun to play. mainly? maybe run order and lods. memory tweaking is also very important, but there are many other things :)

Depends on the model, with 3870 for example better scores with +4.0~4.2 here

I am going to try some runs when I get home with my AMD
320x11 = 3520Mhz --- Ram @ 5-5-4-15-1T 1003Mhz

If I can pull it off I should be able to break 51K with the GPU @ 800/2000/2400
I just can't find the best LOD for the 9800GTX and my run order is a bit off (N-CH-LL-DH-CL-LH-DL)

Seems like my CPU doesn't mind pushing the DDR2 @ 1T timings now if this is worth the boost then I keep it, if not I will back down to 2T and tighten the timings just a bit to around 5-4-4-12-2T, Using the G.Skill 8500-2GBPK kit. Also though its hard to keep stable at 3.6Ghz my CPU and board are allowing me to stay stable up to 1500Mhz on the HT with a AM2 cpu.

Alright Vince it's on. :D Finally got the rig stabilized at what I wanted (sort of), now it's time to squeeze points and attempt to fully make up my FSB deficit...can't run quite at your level without LN2. Vids are acting up big time, I think I botched my heatsink mount big time, so I just dropped it to 810 and increased mem to compensate, hope you think that's fair. :p: I brought the mem up to 1280 on nature actually to equalize it with respect to you, backing the GPU down was hitting me hard.

And btw, did anyone tell you you couldn't run sync? :wasntme:

i don't have any air clocks on CPU but phase CPU at 5ghz and water on 8800GTs heh which was good for 105K '01 heh......similar core clocks and around 955 on RAM :down:...my GT RAM sucks heheheh...

i wonder if i clock it down and bump the FSB if i'll get similar scores as you guys....i guess it will be a touch weaker as it's they are GTs

looks as though the nature is almost on par there actually .... 400MHz CPU clocks won't make any difference

And if Asus would fix the 6-5-5 clocking on the S2E I'd say 450MHz FSB ( 1800 ) and RAM Linked & Synched at DDR3-1800 6-5-5-16 1T along with two GTXs at 864MHz would be good enough for 100k. ( P1 & P2 enabled of course )

Jumped LOD to 4.9 in Nature all others still at 3. I've got tomorrow off so I'll test each test then.
The core still has more in it, not sure about the gpu's mem.

And I can't seem to get the G.Skills to run 7-6-6, and on top of that most of the test's ran slower.

Oh well, I have some work to do.

Im having a lot of trouble getting even close to other guy's CH.
Running 4400MHz (440x10), 880MHz 7-6-5-14, 777/linked/1134 GX2 and almost always tops out at a measly 250fps :(

Surely 200MHz on CPU and 60fsb isnt making all that difference?
Or would my 174.88's be neutering it?

In what order do you install your benchmarks? I've had the same issues when I grabbed my 96gt for a second round of ln² benching.
