Foxconn Quantum Force Destroyer Preview (56k no way)

Got a package on my porch today and to my suprise it was the Quantum Force Destroyer. The upcoming 780a board from Foxconn. It has 4 PCI-E x16 slots as well as an onboard GPU. It also allows for hybrid SLI.

The name is cool but could become negative if one of the boards kills a cpu or some ram.

I have some OCZ Reaper PC2 9200, and an EVGA 8800GTS 512. Possibly a second for SLI.

So far I have been messing with a Brisbane x2 5000+ and stock air. Clocked up pretty well but still learning the board. I will have bios shots today or tomorrow.

Well It supports 3 way SLI plus a fourth slot for physx card. Considering 8 and 9 series should be able to do physx shortly.

you are learning nothing till you put a Phenom in that board, the NB is on the CPU and all memory controller options are coded to only appear with a Phenom.

Don't take this personal...If you want to promote the board how it should be....get a phenom m8 and stop messing with old dual cores we all know do 300+HTT ;)

Good, Would like to see if a Phenom heats upp youre PMW\NB as much as it does on 790Fx based boards...

As I type my temps are CPU\PWM\NB 53C\84\66C on DFI 790FX, Cooling is Si-128SE With 1400rpm ADDA fan. 2800mhz stock (1,3v) running OCCT. That´s F*cking hot in my book!

Who uses sound when benching. :D I believe it has a realtek chip on there look around the PCI-E slots it should say the chip.

As you might know, the 9850BE comes with unlocked multipliers. But I think a 9750 95W TDP is still very attractive, and 9550 could OC the same as the 9850BE as long as your board + Phenom will do high HTT's. However, there's only like a ~50Euro price difference between a 9550 (145Euro) and a 9850BE (190Euro). There are no real 'extreme editions' around and 9850BE is already worth any Euro you pay for it (IMO).

Dont start looking for AM2+ boards which had some massive HTT's coupled with an AMD Athlon X2. It's completely useless. My board can do 290Mhz+ HTT, but with a Phenom 207Mhz HTT is already a disaster. Although Im very convinced something is wrong with my board apart from the known SB600+Phenom issues.

Whatever you decide regarding motherboards, either pick up a 790FX/SB750, 790GX/SB750 or a board with nForce 780a chipsets. Only one board is released officially thus far with the SB750 as of today (from Foxconn too). Other manufacturers might follow soon, just so you know that SB750's are hardly around for now and you might want to wait a month before they're available on the market.

That comment, you mean to tell me I can use my current physx card? or is there a PCI-E Physx card out? Very confused here, and about to kick my own @ss if I can use it in the x4 PCI-E slot; took me a long, long time to be able to use my HD2900XTs and my Physx card on my old P5E3 Premium board.

Nvidia bought Ageia/Physx not to long ago. Rumours have been floating around that 8 series GPUs will be able to be used as a Physx card.

I've tested another bios - 05/29/2008

it's suck!!!111oneoneone

max htt 300mhz (mb star one time with that htt)

mb doesn't start when a settings is bigger than default.

the destroyer is running very slowly with 05/29/2008

and the second bios isn't work correctly. He is broke.

the best bios is 05/12/2008 for me

x4 9600. I expect low 3GHz s out of the chip. Might even throw it on the cascade to see what happens even though performance doesnt get better.

So is the 9850BE the chip to get or is there going to be a 9950BE

Plus is the destroyer worth waiting for and is this a good combo,

not that i am rich but money is not an object.

my team mate has told me bios haven't got a a regulation of nb multi. It's big - and the limit of a voltage for a cpu/nb, board cost 299$ so I think it's another -. Does this can be bring in another bios ? Better than 0529 and good as 0512.

disappointing, no nb multi, no enhanced cpu multies :(

svende has told an old bios 0424 has got regulation of multi but max htt aren't high, when board comeback to me I have test it with 9600.

massman, regulation is a question of bios.

Would it be possible to have a look at that bios? (Screens or possibly downloading that bios)

Phenom is capable of breaking 20s barrier in superpi with the right tools ... ;).

I'd like to know how elaborate the cpu mp and northbridge mp settings are in the 0424 bios.

Why have there been no reviews on this board yet by a major review site?

Have you done any testing with the likes of a X2 5000 or 6400 Black Edition CPU with this board? :)

I dont believe the board has hit the retail market yet. I tried it with my X2 5000 and it did pretty well. However I am testing with the Phenom right now. I know FatAlbert did alot of testing.

massman, a score of litleboy is really high, I'm not try to bit him because I haven't got 9850, I can have 9600 ;/

masell's score is really high but with a 6400 + couple tweaks + higher mhz, I think it's a chance to do better time but first you should know more tweaks and have more mhz ;)

I have a Mach II.

I am having problems with my Asus Crosshair and want to know if it would be worth it to upgrade to this board and keep all of the other hardware.

I don't have a phase, I' will use dry ice ;)

I want buy 6400 but not black edition. I think the CCB8F gave me high mhz but I have a time to think which cpu I should buy :D

I'm going for Phenom damage, not A64 damage. A phenom at 3,75G in combination with an average tuned OS should hit 20s flat quite easily ... that's how much power is in those chips.

Now, 3,75G will definitly be difficult, so I'm aiming for 3,65G and better tweaking :D

I don't have a 6400+, I only have my Phenom X4 9850. That's the reason why I'm going to try to attack the 20s barrier ;).

Is there any news on when this board might be out in the UK?

I've been looking around and all there are is vague promises that it's out sometime around now. There was even an ad in this month's Custom PC for it, yet it isn't available anywhere.
