Intel X58 coming out 08 Q4

Well this will be intersting none the less. Bloomfield, what socket is that again? since 2 different sockets is going to be confusing. But due to this, I see this motherboard costing between 450-700 dollars. Easily.

So why Warboy thing those mobos are going to be insanely pricey?
I were extecting them to be cheaper than current high-end 790i and X48 boards beacuse Nehalem needs lots of simplier chipset so chipset mustbe cheaper also.

There will also be socket 10xx for board with only Dual Channel and others for the New version of Timna that Fusion will copy. Knowing Intel, there might, MIGHT, be P51, P53, and P55 to go along with the X58. Heck there might even be a X55 with less PCI-E 2.0 support like 2 8X PCI-E slots.

Is it just me or does that board pictured still have 2 chips, 1 under the HS & 1 naked? Unless it uses the N200 chip that is...

Compared to what? the crappy celerons are more expensive. I think Atom could be cheaper but is still cheaper than Celerons.

About this news i cant wait to start playing with nehalem hopefully it will be a oc friendly platform.

nope, there will be no more chipsets other then the south bridge on the lower end stuff. all the normal northbridge stuff is now in the cpu package.

Tylersburg will have a different product name for its uses in DP and MP platforms though.

Maybe I was wrong but I was thinking the other numbers would apply to the Capella mobile platform, the Piketon business desktop along side with Kingscreek consumer desktop. Why? You think everyone will be able to afford Nehalem and not buy these?

Mainstream Nehalem will only hit the streets in Q2 09, P45 has at least a year ahead.

P45 will be around for awhile...this X58 requires a major ugrade, mobo/CPU and memory. P45 will be the weapon of choice for a year or so.

What I really meant was, it won't be very long after P45 is released before Nehalem fever pushes it off the front page around here. Eaglelake is a process shrink of Bearlake frpm 90 --> 65nm so there's power and performance improvements. From a manufacturing standpoint it lets Intel retool factories up to the more profitable processes. The bulk of the chipset improvements come out in the integrated graphics versions in the form of faster 3D and hd movie playback, although there will most likely be some benifits to top end memory and FSB speeds as well.

ICH10 adds intigrated gigabit and wifi and a few other things i cant remember now. so this reduces the ammout of seperate IC's on the board lowering power consumption and costs.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Cantiga, the mobile chipset might be out or make it out first. I'll have to do some digging to see if the Montivina platform (i probibly butchered the spelling) has made it out yet.

yeah, the big improvements are mostly getting better HD movie playback and initial work at getting 3D up to snuff that will be improved with the mobile incarnations of Nehalem (Aubrundale).

Can tylersburg be used with Core 2 Duo & Core 2 Quad?

Yes it will. The QPI link is scalable and there will be EE chips with unlocked multipliers. Both will allow you to push up the clock speed.

This is an interesting development. Its news to me that bloomfield has no NB, but instead, its built into the cpu. I wonder how this'll affect temps. I skipped 45nm, and I think i'll continue that trend till the 32nm shrink happens w/ 6cores (12 via hyperthreading). Thats going to be awesome.

2010 looks interesting:

Westmere 32nm w/ 12mb L2 cache
Cheap DDR3 (i'm hoping)
Triple channel mobos.

2011:

Sandy Bridge:22nm 4.0ghz up to 32 cores (rumored)

I'm thinking, cheap westmere in 2010, then upgrade to high end sandybridge in 2011 and retire my "slow" westmere to another primary computer. Am I thinking way too far ahead? Most likely!

3 channels would mean two slots per channel. This would explain 6 sticks. So if you get a kit per channel, thats still 2 stick per kit / channel. So if you get three 4 gig kits, thats 12 gigs, 4 gigs in each channel, right? Its not dual channel with 3 sticks per channel.

Triple channel will have 192-bit instead of the dual-channel 128-bit,so it will require more one stick on the channel to fill in the 64-bit missing,so it's going to be 3 sticks kit's;)

That's exactly what will happen for Bloomfield... 3 Channels with 2 slots per channel.

You can therefore run 3x1GB, 6x1GB, 3x2GB, or 6x2GB to get max performance.

However, you could still run 2 sticks to get 2 channel performance.
