Anyone else having problems with these...
When I tested them at 1600 w/ my system default settings 9-9-9-24 (Memtest Passed), but when I use the manufactures recommended settings 7-7-7-24 w/ all other system settings on auto as indicated below (Memtest had tons of errors)...
Truthfully I would like to get a little more out of these… I expeceted more from OCZ, but I’ve also heard it’s difficult too OC anything over 2GB…

dram voltage = auto?
you need to back the CPU down to stock to test starting at 1333, the load quads place on x38 and X48 is massive and yes you are right in saying its hard to clock 2GB modules.
transaction booster needs relaxing and you may see NB voltage at high as 1.6 to get things stable.
Its a whole new ballgame with quads at 400fsb and 4GB over 2x2 dimms. 790i does it well but X38/X48 is not as good.
You many want to try 1333 with tight timings, its a lot easier to do and will allow you to get the CPU where you want it. i was running 6-6-5-18 in a premium board to around 1400 with sensible voltages.
To finish, if you had a dual core in there the ram would be doing a lot better, its the quad that is causing the issue.
Wow, I would hate to run them a @ 1333 (Rated at 1600).... I just replaced my 4 GB of Team 1333's that would run at 1544 7-7-7-20... Looks like I'm going to RMA if I'm forced to reduce performance :(
Memory voltage at Auto?
That will result in 1.5v for the ram. Set that to 1.8V, then try at 7-7-7 at 1600.

errors in test6? hmmmm
what memory slots are you using?
try 2 and 4
go for 888-24 to make sure the fsb is stable, if that works, then go for 777 again and try to find the sweet spot, remember more vdimm isnt always better :D
if 1600 888 doesnt work then try each stick individually, you might have a bad stick, or maybe your cpu cant do 400fsb stable?
drop the multi to 6x to check this.

Tried each stick alone? 1 stick, cpu 6x400, ram 1600Mhz, 7-7-7-24 1.8-1.9V, NB 1.6-1.65V, dram command rate 2T
And don't touch transaction booster yet :)
Yeah, I'm testing single sticks now... Just had my first one fail (The sticks have a sticker that indicates 7-7-7@1.9v?)

OCZ has excellent support/RMA services so no worries :)
I still feel I need to remind you guys that quads add a ton of load to NB chipsets, specially when the CPU is overclocked. I found using 1 dimm was able to pass tests but the load of 2 dimms and the quad with 400fsb pushed some chipsets to hard...and I test a few boards remember ;)
All these huge clocks on DDr3 are with 2GB kits and E8500's, makes you wonder why ;)
790i is better than X48 with 4 and 8GB though, so there is hope :)

you have a 2GB kit there, much easier...the issues are with 4GB spread over 2x2 or 4x2 for 8gb.

But is it because of the ram or the NB:...? If you have access to the gear, can you give it a test on a RAM-tester... ? (simmtester)

Maybe v3.4a has it fixed, but I found 3.3 and early 3.4 to give errors where other memtest did not.
v2.01 from www.memtest.org is still what I recommend for testing memory outside of Windows.
I had the same problem on my 2x2 EB sticks. When I run them @1600 @ 7-6-6-24 2T(the rated speed and timing) Memtest 2.1 showed errors. This is on 790i(S2E) and memory @1.9V and SPP @1.4V. They run 1600 7-7-7-28 2T fine. ALso, I have a lot of system freezes running everything @ default except for memory and SPP voltage. I am RMAing it through mwave.
Yeah, OCZ recommended that I use Memtest86+ 2.01 (This version recognizes my chip sets and runs smoother/faster IMO), but I’m still having the same issues/problems... I wish I could keep the good one and replace the bad one (1 for 1)… I dread getting a new kit with the same issues…

malkiewicz, try less vdimm, some sticks like more or less vdimm :)
that one stick might not be faulty, it might just prefer lower vdimm
and if its faulty, im sure ocz can change it quickly :D
I've decided to return my OCZ ram kit, and I'm thinking about replacing it with the G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Kit... Its rated at 7-7-7-18... Question - anyone know if this will perform at the rated speeds... I've seen nothing but good reviews... Thanks...
I have the 2 gig Kit with an E8400 and these sticks have been by far the hardest part of my system to setup. 9 9 9 will run at 1600, 7 7 7 is a bit of a challenge. I've also noticed that these sticks don't like anything about 1.86/1.88 at any speed or latencies. 3 months later and I'm still battling it out with these sticks. I've been writing down all my settings... I have pages and pages of notes as the ME is a picky ass board too. I must admit that my luck as far as clocking goes with OCZ memory has been pretty shotty but I've never had a problem with OCZs service. I"m quite happy with my 1010W poiwer supply. That thing has been great.
maximus xtreme, yeah, all rog boards i ever used were a bit picky and not easy and predictable to tweak. i looooove the REAL asus boards tho :D

Ive heard of many people having problems getting 2x2gb 1600 777 kits stable... it seems its not plug and play for all people...
If thats really the case then i dont think it makes a big difference what mfg you buy your kit from, you might just have to try several kits to find one that works well on your board. with ddr3 there are some weird compatibility issues, some kits work great on one board and suck on another one...
id say give ocz a chance to fix this, im sure they will :)
if the rma kit still doesnt work, go and sell the kit or return it to the shop and try another kit...
I tried the GSKILL 4GB DDR3-1600 Kit when they just appeared at newegg. They are stable on my P5E3 Deluxe at 7-7-7 1600 @ 1.92v. They can pass memtest @ 1.70v, but need 1.92v to pass 4x superpi 32M in windows.Quote:

I have these sticks, well the 2x2GB, for 1600FSB voltage (OCZ site) has to be1.9V and 1.95 for 1600+ i have them currently running on my GA-X48T-DQ6 on 7-7-7-24 timings 1600FSB stable.

I had these sticks today, and i must of had a bad stick, one stick is fine and will pass mem test and vista mem test but the other stick fails straight away and i get bsod of death on vista start up, been testing all morning and afternoon no luck, time to give up and set up a RMA...
i've just had a kit of these delivered...
now i'm not sure if i should send them back straight away (to save any problems returning at a later date) as i don't have a board to test them in just yet :shrug: :(
Asus boards that have Skew control... play with advancing the skew up to 300ps as you clock the ram up. It may prove to stablize the board. Start low and increas skew on both channels.
Boards that say they support 1600 MHz ram do have a tough time doing so with 2x2GB and a Quad Core CPU.

Can anyone recommend a 2x2gb ddr3 kit that works well in the P5E3 Premium? Sorry for the hijack, but I too am having difficulties getting the OCZ Platinum kit to run at rated timings in my board. Mine is the EB kit with 7-6-6-24 @ 1600mhz timings. I am nearly ready to give up on this memory, but will lose bigtime if I sell the kit and move to another brand of memory.
An Update: Re-flashed Bios with v1203 - Was able to reduce the CPU, DRAM & NB voltage... Stable...

I have it stable at 7-6-6-24 2T 1600FSB on a X48T-DQ6 1.85V 31 hours orthos on a E8500 on 1.300V
4 or 8GB is going to need skew delay...you can force the modules and NB to work with juice but both will die over time. Also 4GB and 8GB using 1600EB is having a spec change due to board issues, 7-6-6- is moving to 7-7-6 as its far easier on the board and chipset.
8GB also adds a ton of load to the NB, voltages over 1.4 create to much heat, 1.35 to 1.375 V is all I have needed for 8GB at 7-7-6-24 250ps delay on A and B DDr3 1600 with 9650 at 3.6 and now testing 4GHZ. PF7 rest of timings AUTO, NB GTL 61%
The more load you add the more Jitter the board sees, the harder it is to clock the ram. X48, X38, P35, P45 all need skew with 4 and 8GB, NB GTL tuning also with FSB below 1600, over 1600 add CPU GTL also if you have a quad.
The days of easy overclocking are gone if you have either 8GB, a quad or both.

In bios you may have 2 options for skew, just A and B try setting 200 to 250ps delay for both
I can run Prime95 all day long but OCCT is a different story. Then after OCCT is stable I try and run COD4 cranked or Stalker.. etc and that is the real test. I find (on the Maximus Extreme #1 in my sig) that gaming is by far the hardest stress test on my rig. Prime95 is butter.
Lol... My OCZ kits unstable again.... I was able to keep it stable for a few days... I'm not having any issues with my other brands... I'll give the OCZ kit one more day - then its off to the trash bin...

Its possible that the Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi MB hates (Compatibility Issues) 4GBs of OCZ RAM…. 2GB kits work fine…… Regardless I’m done with OCZ….
your ram is Micron JNL based, setup is everything and making sure the CPU is 100% also helps. make sure the CPU is 100% stable by downclocking the multi and ram and use the PC for a few days,then bring the ram speed back and retest.
Finally try the CPU on the multi you need for the OC
Has anyone here tried running 8GB of this RAM on a P5E3?
If so what is the most performance you can get out of the RAM?
