Thanks ;)
some1 try this out?
Will a single 3870X2 work on a Nforce board?
Tried it with two 3870 X2 on a P5E64 WS Pro under VISTA 32bit...
CCC does not work and so I can't activate QuadCF...
Same for a collegue @ our forum...
I've tried with 3 cards on X38 mobo and vista... No CF-X is avalivible.
is this suppost to work with 4 cards only?
Ive tried it and it with 2 ASUS 3870X2s and it dosnt work.
theres a chance these may work.
http://www.hisdigital.com/html/driver.php?id=60
the source is unconfirmed however. so I just hear they will work.
dont actually know if they will.
like always, you need vista for CFX.
X38 Motherboard 3x Pcİex 3x 2900XT Trİple Crossfİre?
Are there any new drivers that are suppose to work with 2x 3870X2?
The drivers in this topic don't work. I'm, going crazy... does anyone have any info on the drivers?
Yes however their not released yet afaik.
Hem... sorry but i think it's so easy to post some screen when the "normal" people can't use this driver... any link is much appreciated....
found something, dont know if they work
ftp://ftp.onda.cn/download/driver/mb..._rc1_vista.exe
No 'high end" cards support so no HD3870 crossfireX.
there must be somewhere leaked beta drivers... :(
i didnt had time to test it myself, but here a guide how to install them:
Quote:
You can't use the installers...well, theoretically with inf modification you could, but my inf modification-fu died a long time once i ceased having an S3 card. What you do is go to the device manager and force install the drivers from there...I installed them as HD3470, as that's a fairly safe bet
not long for the official drivers now... i'll be getting a couple of these cards for quad fire so i'm hoping they are out and in good condition soon....
http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=523
there ya go... looks good....
paid for two x2's.....they will be here and in my rig tommorow.... ;)
gonna be fun benching these things.....
Here is 2 versions of the new vista beta cat 8.3 with crossfireX support
http://www.octeamdenmark.com/forums/...ead.php?t=1368
No HD3870 support, someone know how to mod those to support the X2?
just install trough device manager , i installed on hd3870X2 as HD3450

has anyone tested one card on these drivers to see if there was a differance to the stock drivers which come with the card...
yesterday the rc1 "worked" , now when trying to install rc1 or rc3, i get the error, that windows could not install those drivers.
8.3 RC3
amd_vista_8.457.rc3_sample_hybridcf_br59582.pcpop. rar
Force install through device manager as HD3450
I have checked and have these running with 2x 3870X2 Asus's
Scoring 24.4k 3dmark 06 and 71fps in crysis.#
Fully working quadfire.
ah right, thanks
Simon, what cpu and memory speeds are you running? Also what resolution were you running in Crysis?
Crysis = 1280x1024 all high settings DX9 64bit mode - 3 pass test using the benchmark tool
CPU at 4500Mhz
I just set up for 4500mhz 1800fsb
3dmark06
25,801
sm2.0 9771
hdr/sm3 13,045
cpu 6700
I did not log to see if all 4 cores were loading and that they were all 825/900.
The fans only spooled up for canyon flight and deep freeze. It appeares that parts of the driver don't work properly with sm2.
I have everest but never logged with it. I will check it out. If the sm2 score would have increased like the sm3 score did, that would be something. 3dmark also looked a little choppy.
screenie for ya, so there is hope for 8.3
my corsair mem is rated at 1800, fsb is 450 by default, nice. I have been walking the clock up too. next is 11x. also had all four cores locked in at
864/900 with amd gpu clock util. Lower fsb is probably true. try to unlock your memmory, lower the cpu clocks and raise the fsb. faster busses are good.
i burnt rc1 and rc3 to a disk and then told device manager that i had the disc to search for drivers... it came up with *.inf as the file name in the search and once again found no drivers present...
theres something really simple i'm missing here, but these drivers wont show up when they are anywhere on my hard drive... i cant extract the drivers manually from the dll and so i'm at a lose end...
what should i do next???
all it finds is the ccc 8.1 and 8.2.... i untick 'compatible' and search through them all as i would with the rc1 to choose the 3850 driver to install.... but i cant get it to detect that i have rc1....
I use the RC3 driver, 8.2 ccc and X2 as 3450, it's works fine:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=179269
i know and i understand how to get it to work. but for some reason when i search for the driver with device manager it doesnt find it...... i thought i had explained this.. thanks for your help anyway but this is where i'm at with it...
Does this work with with 64 vista?
I think so
Purecain, directory structure should be amd/packages/drivers/display/lh_inf/cl_59582.inf
im using vista 32. if your using 64, maybe thier in the lh6a_inf folder. don't let windows search at all, choose manual the whole process. I see now your using 64. try the ln6a_inf folder, file name ch_59582.inf
edited
from device manager, choose card, driver tab, update driver. choose browse my computer, let me pick from a list(not the next button),
choose have disk, now browse to the amd directory wherever you put it. fallow the path amd*/packages/drivers/display/lh6a_inf and choose ch_59582.inf and open.
install from disk window opens, click ok. you should see This driver is not digitally signed, choose from the list. repeat as needed etc. thats how I just walked thru it.
done it thankyou:D 20000+3dmarks http://service.futuremark.com/result...&resultType=14
So let it be with the :banana::banana::banana: beta drivers, the final ones are coming :)Quote:

it would be great if the 8.3cats were coming out this week. unfortunatly the chances are they will be released the same time this month as they were last month...
just a random question,
can I be satisfied with a score of ~13700 in 3DMark06 running ONE 3870X2 and Q6600 on stock settings?
Edit: 18528 3DMarks with Q6600 at 3600MHz...
Not really getting good reports in GPU-Z with my card... 28.8 GB/s bandwidth.
I flashed the newest bios.

New vista cat 8.3 driver up
wow i cant wait to see the benches now that the official 8.3 is here... great time to buy a 3870 now too the OC version from msi is only 409 dollars!! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814127326R
good luck with the new drivers guys... ill be watching =)
It is not the same got different number than the 2 old betas
Is not WHQL, as the real 8.3 will be. is RC3 with new CCC and .inf only. Performance is worse than RC3, stutter is more obvious...higher numbers in files does not make it 8.3, nor does it make it better:
your "8.3" 19877 3DMark06:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=5578388
RC3 20225 3DMark06:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=5570875
2d rendering is not ok either, with the driver you linked, which was on this forum HOURS ago.;) This is XS, after all.
RC1 is DriverVer=01/30/2008, 8.470.0.0000
RC3 is DriverVer=02/08/2008, 8.470.0.0000
This sample is DriverVer=02/25/2008, 8.471.0.0000
So something must be diffrent? I dident say it was WHQL drivers and i found it this morning at 5 oclock
no 64bit support in that driver... >M<
Sorry there's no screenies but E8400 @ 3.8GHz on P5N with 4GB DDR2 800 4.4.4.12
1x3870x2 = 17201 3D Marks
2x3870x2 = 19210 3D Marks
on CAT 8.3 using 32bit drivers on 64bit Vista
Pushing the CPU to 4GHz broke 20k
Should be able to see how it stacks up against 9800GX2 and 3x8800 Ultra tomorrow.
Have fun guys!
let the benchmarking beginn :D
Vista32
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...common-vista32
Vista64
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...common-vista64
I tested them out and my 3dmark06 score dropped from 18k to 15k! I have Vista64 and a couple of 3870 in crossfire.
Then you must have done something wrong
I have just talked to my mate and he has a 200-250 point raise in 2dmark06 with 2 x 3870 in crossfire and he also runs vista 64bit
I have a issue, downloaded the cat 8.3 release, installed(CFX is enabled in ccc), but somehow i have a lower score with 3870x2 + 3870(vista64) then 3870x2 alone(winxp).
and i just cannot pass 20k under vista64(did it witho two 3870 in xp), cpu clocks are the same q6600 @ 4100mhz.
its strange, i know vista is not so good like xp for 3dmark, but i have one gpu more....hmmm
Okey thanx for the info. Anisotropic filtering was at 16x at default so that was causing it. Got about the same score as with previous catalysts.
18528 3DMarks in 06 with 8.2
11212 3DMarks in 06 with 8.3
what the hell am I doing wrong? custom settings / let application choose in ccc, although it were the same settings on both drivers unless 8.3 defaulted something "on" which the 8.2 didn't
however I can admit that it looks better, so it might be some setting(?)
plz help
With catalyst 8.3 the gpu does the scaling and not the screen. So if the default 3dmark06 resolution (1280*1024) is not your screen's native resolution then your gpu does the scaling with better image results but with much worse performance. Change the 3dmark resolution to your native resolution of your screen and you 'll see that you have better results, but of course lower than the results that you would have at 1280*1024 without the gpu scaling. So for now on , with catalysts 8.3 and above ,their can't be 3dmarks compare since the gpu scaling plays a very important (negative) role in the results you get.
Sorry for my bad english, i hope you 've understanded.
Personally I unistalled 8.3 cause I had almost half the performance in crysis, and artifacts in cod4 and race07 that i didn't have with previous drivers.
I have a 3850 512Mb pcie and windows xp.
ever since i isntalled the 8.3 my card has been working great. i used to get 14k on 3dmark, now im getting 18-19 depending on what clock my cpu is running.
I ahve a second hd3870x2 sitting aorund, and im thinking of trying out those drivers you guys sent. Crysis is being played at 40+ FPS, and its quite fast, would love to see it at say 55+ :P
So I ran a few tries with 333 FSB (3006 MHz)
original settings 8.2 - 15969 3DMarks
all max (1920x1200) 8.2 - 9855 3DMarks
original settings 8.3 - 12179 3DMarks
all max (1920x1200) 8.3 - 8158 3DMarks
all max = 8x fsaa 16x anistro etc...
original settings = set resolution to 1280x1024 in CCC instead of 1920x1200
Things got better, sure... but not good enough. Do you think I should use 8.2 for gaming? What is Catalyst A.I. btw? should I have it on? (off atm)
Also I wonder if there's any fix which allows me to run Warcraft 3 with this card, it's completely unplayable... it doesn't lag but the image + mouse pointer is flickering like hell.
edit: if I make a shortcut of the Frozen Throne.exe and add -window to the executive line. it doesn't lag at all EVEN if I maximize the windowed mode to 1920x1200...
edit2: it works flawlessly with -opengl...
yes, turn AI on. It helped with my scores. I see no difference between standard or advanced though.
Hey R1 rider, I'm a R1 rider too ;) What year are you sportin'?
Can someone recommend the best crossfire driver for 2 3870x2 and walk me through a quick setup to get it right. I installed just one for a while and since the single card is considered to be already in crossfire I can't seem to get the 2nd card to work as a single unit with the first!? Doh!
Thanks!
catalyst ai off = crossfire off.... then you have advanced which offers another rendering option besides the normal AFR....
chris, I'm packin a 2007, a sweet machine it is. cat 8.3 + latest hotfix works fine here. drivers are wierd and require a couple of reboots to configure themselves. xp will not run quad gpu's but vista will. are you using xp?
Sorry, I am running on my computer with 2 x 3870 in crossfire (with p35) yesterday downloaded from the Web AMD catalyts 8.3. But the results were not as expected.
Catalyts 8.1
3dmark 05: 25k
8.3
3dmark 05: 18k
howto install the RC3 version??
Banshee---> if u run at XP, try uninstall them and use driver cleaner pro also. Then install 8.3, followed by hotfix 8.3..now it should be read as 8.4
He cant/shouldnt be running XP as CFX wil only work in Vista with either cat8.3 or the hotfix version.
25k in 05 seems about right for 1 stock X2 and approx 4ghz on E8400.
he tries to run 3870 in CF (dual)not X2 in CF, and indeed a quad gpu wont work in XP since it wont allowed 3 frames ahead rendering
Hey all. I just got a second 3870x2 that I installed on my DFI X38 mobo. With one card installed I got between 13300 and 13400 3DMarks. With the second card my score only went up by about 500 points.
Is there any way I can make sure both cards are working? I ran the Shader Mark test with both cards in and got around 1275 fps. Under "Details" in 3DM06 under "System" I saw this:
Unfortunately, I never noticed if it was on for one cards, but IIRC it was on for dual 2900XT's.Quote:

Run 3D03, the difference wil be noticable :)
i second what loco says , in 3d03 there will be a massive difference but in 06 the big difference is only apparent when you up the resolutionto say 1920 x 1200
OK, I ran 3DM06 for kicks. Last time I ran it was with my old system that included two 2900XT's, and I got around 60K. New score with two 3870X2's is 73K.
I'm working on the CPU OC now...
