LMAO. What's the CPU_CRAZY part on that board?
And NB CRAZY and SB CRAZY.
Voltage by jumpers?
Voltage
nice
that was quick :)
Asus should use spell check :)
Stricker
pics or ban
:nono:
what is the diference between ultra and ultra SLI?

StrikerII Extreme
NB Volts - 3.10v....
real pics, no crap from manual ...
Asus mobo manuals are always pretty bad for spelling
Im digging the 1x pci-e above the first 16x slot for sound card that is a good feature imo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=&srchInDesc=
I hope it hits retail sooner than expected. Hopefully we can get our hands on this late February...1st week of March? :D
Maybe was the lack of sleep but i somehow found the diference, look at the memory support.
Ultra SLI > 2000MHz DDR3
SLI > 1600MHz DDR3
So maybe there is a hardware diference, one has 2 phase DDR3 and the other doesnt
Ultra SLI is suppose to be a better overclocker too.
The difference is about the same here as it is between X38 and X48.

I'm getting it!
thnxs sxs112 for info...
Is this chipset ddr3 only?
 still 570, yaik...i think nvidia gave up. and honestly, as long as they think 170F and lousy 100mb throughput in raid0 are just fine for that price, you should too...
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/36033/135/
This board and a good set of DDR3 4GB is going to cost $1,000, thats about $650 more than a 780i and a good set of DDR2 4GB, do you think 5 frames per second is worth that much more??? the mainstream is still DDR2, DDR3 adopt rate is VERY!!! slow, it has been available for over 9 months and sales and prices are really bad, adoption rate is slower than DDR2 was in 2004.
^Nice post GAR. I still bet you will probably have one of these before I do and I wanted one yesterday. :ROTF:
Posted elsewhere in this forum (i.e., I can't remember where I read it) someone was recently talking about "expected" price drops of DDR3 memory in Q2. I hope this to be the case as current crack-head pricing may be cost prohibitive.
Same southbridge on my 680i. :welcome:
Attachment 72340
asus overcharge for their boards
reference boards are usually best anyways and cost less...
i reckon they'll probably end up being 250-300 like others
ppl quoting synthetic HDD tests
PLEASE show us how that translate to real world performance ;)
it's just this... e-thingy
Will both boards have the fuzion waterblock ? Kindda love that thing on my Maximus keeps the NB 15°C cooler than passive....
x48 = high binned x38, its a bit like calling a quad an extreme because it can handle a higher fsb. I very much doubt that 'binning' is done based on anything more than the position of the die on the wafer once a process has matured. FSB testing each die would take too long.
recycling 570 chips? thats odd...
and they still didnt learn their lesson... why do they put a pciE x1 slot on the top instead of between the pciE 16x slots to give extra space for heatsinks/airflow/pots? :stick:
I'll wait for the v1.1 version which is rumored to have an underclocking jumper called CPU_retarded. :D
Pics are here - 790i Pics
500MHz FSB on dual core
800Mhz 6-6-6
nice start :)
wonder if we'll be seeing some 1200+ RAM speeds and 600MHz FSB :D
 OMFG! ASUS finally wised up and quit reversing the top 1x PCI-e slot?!? At least that is what the manual pics show.
I never could understand why they reversed that slot on the Striker Extreme.
Also from the AnandTech photos, it looks like the BIOS chip is no longer replaceable. I hope ASUS' BIOS group doesn't brick the mobos with iffy BIOS updates.
525 fsb for Quad, with 1:1 RAM!!!
that's what I'd like to see....
I haven't seen one yet....
BUT THAT'S STILL WHAT I WANT TO SEE!!!!
:yepp:
Would be a pretty sight I agree. I guess we can all cross our fingers!
can not wait for this to get out to retailers! /nerdgasam :worship: :rocker:
any beches out? seen only one on a ty site... no translation yet...
Where are actual Pics, Pics,Pics,PICS!!!!:D
http://www.anandtech.com/weblog/showpost.aspx?i=391
not mutch...
Initial impressions look good. With 9800GTX rumored specs, i believe that many would consider sli. If 790i will bring near Intel's oc'ing ability then it'll be a winner...
I would really like to see this chip cick some b_t, cause I got 2 fresh G92 GTS's, and a warm bowll of Q6600 G0, just waiting... + 2 juicy mushhin 996594 kits!
Yeah me too but with my 8800GT SSC cards and my Q6600. I just bought some Crucial DDR3 1600 to go with this board. This memory is doing well and I got
them for only $185.00 new.. :)

i am very happy with this board ... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=179184&page=2

What is going to be the difference between these 790i boards?
ASUS R.O.G. Pinot Noir 790i Motherboard
http://www.techpowerup.com/img/08-03...r_board_01.jpg
http://www.tcmagazine.com/images/new...r_board_02.jpg
that board is like hot sex.. lol. whew.
so you have the Extreme and the NSE version right?
does NSE stand for Not So Extreme?
Exact same layout as Maximus Extreme and I've tried telling malware over at TPu that he should change the news.
This is X48, not nForce 790i.

Most of the new Asus boards have that black PCIe x1 slot for the sound card. Can anyone tell me whether it is a normal x1 slot which is compatible with any PCIe x1 board or whether it can only be used with the Asus sound card? Only reason I ask is that it is a perfect "out of the way" spot for my TV tuner
I just reread this thread from the start. Is there going to be 2 different versions/bins of this chipset still? 790i and 790i ultra?
Edit: I just looked at the chipset pic from the Anandtech preview for the Striker II Extreme and that is indeed labelled 790iu, so I guess the regular 790i might make an appearance later, perhaps this Striker NSE from the OP
I though Pinot Noir was 790i and not X48 Dinos
Atomic MPC has som intro pics of the Striker II Extreme....
http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?CIID=105756
X48 im almost sure
Well, they coulda have make one with the 790i Ultra chipset too, like eVGA that makes normal and water cooled versions aka black pearls.
How much more awesome it would be if they can just make those barbs for WC adjustable to turn it inward so it doesnt force an external radiator.
Am I the only one that thinks that the pinotnoir looks like s**t? I mean, it just gives the impression of being cheap; and is not tasteful at all.
Is the Striker Extreme II can work with Tri - SLI or Quad SLi ???
i don't think that waterblock will do much either
$500 motherboard... Really???
No,probably the normal 300€-350€
nF790i boards with all these tinky winky schminkies on board will cost those 500$. And average nF790i without useless schminkies will cost about 300$.
500$ hardware price in states transfers to 400EUR in Europe.
Striker II Formula cost 350$ and thats only a tiny step over nF680i. nF790i will be beast, with strong memory controller and everything high end board/chipset needs.
it's the 18th now (somewhere)... can we get our results now???
OBR, where are you?
my striker II extreme retail is on the way to me :D
i think it arrived tomorrow.
Well, initial prices are sometimes high, but look here.
OMG!!!
He's right HERE
OBR's review , though a little light of what I had in mind...not reviewed the 9800X2 yet... any can anyone translate that lol :D
http://pctuning.tyden.cz/index.php?o...1&limitstart=0
Things I like from current reviews I have seen : pretty low NB and SB temps, performance is pretty average but total wattage draw is pretty low again...
sad: again funky mem dividers to be used to get max performance...
where is this available in the US?
The reference 790i Ultra boards are available at Newegg.
Newegg eVga and XFX 790i Ultra's
but what about the Asus??? can't find it anywhere
maybe I should just go for the EVGA...
Man, $349 bucks msrp for a reference mobo?? Are u kidding me??? I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for a high end board, I've owned a Maximus Formula and 780i myself, but c'mon!!! This is ridiculous, are these made of gasoline?!?!?
my striker ii extreme arrived today :D
but with bios 0402.
if anyone find bios 0507 or 0504 please contact me.
thanks.
These are out in Australia for AU$699
Thats around US$629 ladies and gentlemen.
Message to Asus: Thanks for the insult, you're a disgrace.
600$ for a motherboard?
...
well, at least there are better alternatives for the more price conscious. This is getting a little too crazy for my tastes.
