Maybe was the lack of sleep but i somehow found the diference, look at the memory support.
Ultra SLI > 2000MHz DDR3
SLI > 1600MHz DDR3
So maybe there is a hardware diference, one has 2 phase DDR3 and the other doesnt
Ultra SLI is suppose to be a better overclocker too.
The difference is about the same here as it is between X38 and X48.

This board and a good set of DDR3 4GB is going to cost $1,000, thats about $650 more than a 780i and a good set of DDR2 4GB, do you think 5 frames per second is worth that much more??? the mainstream is still DDR2, DDR3 adopt rate is VERY!!! slow, it has been available for over 9 months and sales and prices are really bad, adoption rate is slower than DDR2 was in 2004.

x48 = high binned x38, its a bit like calling a quad an extreme because it can handle a higher fsb. I very much doubt that 'binning' is done based on anything more than the position of the die on the wafer once a process has matured. FSB testing each die would take too long.Quote:

Initial impressions look good. With 9800GTX rumored specs, i believe that many would consider sli. If 790i will bring near Intel's oc'ing ability then it'll be a winner...

Most of the new Asus boards have that black PCIe x1 slot for the sound card. Can anyone tell me whether it is a normal x1 slot which is compatible with any PCIe x1 board or whether it can only be used with the Asus sound card? IIRC nVidia's only quad will be with the 9800GX2 cards, and the last I read was that it was "iffy". Tri-SLi should be no issue w/ the Striker, if the nVidia drivers work correctly.Quote:
