Mid novemeber on the DFI UT X38 T2R is anyone excited :D
I just ordered the Asus Maximus X38 and will be very curious which one peforms best.
Right now I have the DFI UT P35 T2R and the Asus P5K and P5K3 so I thought WTH.
The DFI looks to be a very interesting board.
I don't think i'll be able to help myself. One of these and a couple of RV670 cards will do very nicely, and then a yorkfield in the new year :D :yepp:
Thats effin HOT, though it looks like it comes with the transmopiper, it's still WU!

I am pro musician with extravagent needs.
Looks like I'm in the right place.
I have been using stable sytems w/ stock Intel boards for years, and have been warned over, and over........do not OC you DAW.
Well, I saw first hand what benefits can be achieved a couple of weeks ago by a friend who is an extreme OC'r / gamer.
I was concerned about my 45 DSP's that reside on the 32bit PCI slots. So that is where my dilemma lies.
I was proven on a DFI 975 board that one could tweak the other busses and leave that buss alone. The apps I use will be extracting audio from ny HDD arrays, so it looks safe to me.
The CPU and memory really benefit from the amount of Virtual instruments I can load, and the host app, Gigastudio 4 will spawn multiple threads to feed these instruments. So I am going to follow advice on tweaking my purchase here.
You guys are deep and I feel as though this is the place.
I await the QX9650, and the DFI X38 T2R. My reason for this choice is that my apps benefit from lower latency RAM.
I await their release feverishly.;)

Any word on the cooling solution? Same as the p35 t2r, or even more crazy since x38 requires a heatspreader?
that looks awesome and 2x16 and 1x4 pci-e2 slots, maybe they will put those thermal rite looking chipset coolers that u have to self apply
any news on this thing, im in search for a board, i need one asap.....
Reading the specs, it says that it has dual Gigabit LAN, but on the back panel port list, it lists 1x RJ45.
Looks great, I'd love to get one but I'd never be able to afford it :(

As with everything nothing is for sure until the board is available retail. But right now there are two RJ45 ports at the rear of the board. One above each set of USB ports.Quote:

Why cant DFI release a product that will actually sell in volume? Most just want a solid board that is affordable.
That thing costs more than most of the cpu's being used today.
the price is ugly... and the board too :P
the infinity line is the value line. comparing there prices to others they are not bad. the lan-party line is similar in price to the high end asus boards. the infinity's are about half the price of the lan-party.Quote:

I personally think that dfi boards are more like one night stands. You use them whenever you want to go extreme, but once you're satisfied you go back to your average boards (like the ds3r) because they're just so much more dependable for general use

I thought DFI was going to skip X38 and go straight to X48.
The pic above seems more like the P35 board with the name photoshopped to X38. It still has the same silly mistake DFI made with the P35. (square MOSFET cooler to the left of the RAM slots versus the rounded ones else where)
Skipping the X38 chipset was never a consideration. DDR3 compatibility is still up in the air because of ram prices and thus slow enthusiast adoption.
I wouldn't worry about the Bios caution on the DFI if I were you they have hired some really great help on Oskar Wu's caliper to assist in pumping out stellar Bios updates and from what I see and experience its all been top flight in the Bios Coding:up:

ihmo dfi is far away from beeing the best choice for the intel platform. A lot of people think, cause they where good on the amd platform it also makes them good on the intel platform.
what board has been better? I've had the top asus boards and the dfi blows them away. the p35 is an astounding board, read the thread about it. DFI has really brought out the big dog with their latest boards and I bet the x-38 will be similar.Quote:

RE DFI versus Asus... I have Asus P5K P5K DLx P5K3, Maximus SE and the DFI...the DFI out performs them all...period. The only benefit of the Maximus is 16X lanes.
Highest OC on the Asus boards: 4050 Highest OC in the DFI: 4105.
Other than the great GFX support I am not real happy with the Maxi..I would be willing to try the DFI X 38... but TBH X 38 is not that exciting...if you run CF yes...if not no.
Not real crazy about the Maximus: runs hot!

Is this board going to be about the best board for 775 chips?
I want a Q9450 and 2x3870's in crossfire. I know there not out yet, but there not too different to what's out now... will it be the best board for the job or is there better?

EMU E5000 fully loaded hardware sampler, My Access Virus B, Alpha Juno-2 etc. I really should get back into it but I just never have the motivation to sit down and create anything. Back on topic however. I have always overclocked my systems when it came to Audio. Jimmyz ....Is there any performance difference btwn the LT and regular X38 ....or is it just transpiper?
million dollar question right now but i will say this, I'll bet the DFI LT will reach the maximum that your cpu/ cooling can handle and be as stable as an LP UT unless you are absolutely pushing the limit of your cpu.Quote:
