The test is very simple,i just had to stress the card for about 6mins and the results are very impressive :)

Thermaltake vs Zalman
VF900-CU It's quiet, quality, easy to install and performs well ,The VF900 is really small especially when compared to the DuOrb, which is about twice as heavy and twice large,well... the Zalman is no contest for the Thermaltake,there s about a 9C difference between them, ,if it's performance that you want, get the Thermaltake :)

The case is a Coolermaster Stacker with no air flow and of course is with the side panel closed and the room temp -> 24C

the NB drooped from 62c to 56C and the cpu went from 50/45/44/47 to 47/43/42/43 :)

What's the significance of Load - Idle temps?

Delta should be Load - Ambient temps.

Interesting that CPU temps went down too...I can see why though (the card artificially chambers the heat and because the card is physically cooler with the better HSF, it allows less heat to transverse to the CPU area).

Want to see how this baby performs on the 8800s.

yeah looks interesting, if its a lot cooler, i´ll consider changing my VF900 with that dual orb on the 8800GTX.

the RD600 is a big problem ,in bad conditions it hits 60C+ easily and part of that heat went to cpu area

Tt works great(it's my opinion) with a low level of noise and don`t need any speed controller,its only 21dBA @ 2500rpm

Zalman you can adjust by yourself the speed
in silent mode -> 18dBA @ 1350rpm
in normal mode-> 25dBA @ 2400rpm

I was testing and re-checking all the tests and looking for a possible mistake in the instalation and the contact was perfect ,I have tried several times but in all tests the 8800's core reached 100c.....

8800GTX puts out much more heat than the X1950, saturating the duorb? Would be my guess, it just can't handle the heatload.

Must be something wrong, you'd think it'd perform better than the stock hsf

When it's loaded, it may just be too much heat for those two (low cost) heatpipes to handle...idle temps are very, very good.

Must be "low cost" pipes because even a VF900 on a GTX loads at 70C according to this thread

If it can't keep an 8800 cool I doubt it'll keep a 2900 cool

Just installed the Thermaltake DuOrb on my Inno3D 8800GT and idle temps are 20C lower and 28C in Crysis.. Booyeah!!!

I get 50 FPS in 1920 x 1200 on Medium settings in the built in flyby bench

In game it is gorgeous and very smooth

Did you not put any heatsinks on the VRM's of the 8800 GT ? Sad to hear that the VF900 will outperform the Duo orb when mounted on a 8800 GTX. I wonder what would happen of you mount the VF900 on the 8800 GT.

i recently took the VF900 off my old x1800xl and it works well on my GT. Load temps of 65 max @ 756core/1890shader, in crysis, ati tool, and tabula rasa w/ all settings to max. I'm not talking just running 1 min at load, talking stabilized max temp - constant temp over time - flat line across.

Idles around 40-42.

If you don't mind. Could you do a Duo-orb vs AC S1 w/Yate Loon DS12L? Very nice work on the comparison.

I might try that as well i still have a vf900 somewhere. But i'm worried about the uncovered VRM's.

i would really like to see a comparison of the DuOrb and VF1000. i plan on buying one of them and i would like to see how each cools a 8800 GT; right now i am going with the DuOrb

I would pick the other one. The Duo only had two heatpipes. And when you put it at a 8800 GTX a VF900 seemed to be cooling better. Soms say it has low quality heatpipes. The VF1000 also have more heatpipes and you can also mount two fans on it so i would go for the VF1000 instead.
