Doing some big changes in week to come new case, new cooler for CPU new psu.... so hopefully bigger overclocks and bigger scores :D Id love to crack 12K with my system!

Might get an 8800Ultra... and overclock it.. recently got my 2900XT for £215 delivered so quite please but seen some 8800ultras going just over £300 so is £100 extra worth it to get the Nvdia top equililent i.e how much more id score with one? is needed?

Might be better to get another 2900 and go for the crossfire. You'd probaby have to get a different mb, but HP got the crossfire to work on a Nvidia chipset. That was for an Intel system though.

mmm unfortunatly all crossfire Am2 mobos suck esp with Amd 600SB means u can get bluray players to work which i cant live without on my 24'' tft..

Next upgrade ethier...

Ati tool 2.7 doesnt wana play ball ... changin fan speeds works fine but it wont let me change core/mem speeds when i click set clock it just goes back to 510mhz or so... and it actually when Ati tool is loaded these safetey or 2d clocks overide the 3d defult clocks of the card making fps drop from 70 to 48.. ati tool still isnt vista complatible?

Ive set clocks to defult via rivatuner and i notice lightflash has rivatuner showing temps etc while ati tool is running... really irritating as id like to use Ati tool as it can change volts etc... :mad:

ATI Tool 0.27b2 and you can adjust card voltages (at least in theory, but it seems to be working :) ). My card original vgpu is 1.15V and max stable 3D clock is 863MHz.
The problem with ATITool vgpu manipulation is that when you change gpu clock then it resets voltage settings to BIOS defaults (in my case 1.15V). This mean that my max 3D clock will be max 2D clock@default vgpu which is around 885MHz.

I need XT BIOS to flash and I'm sure 900MHz+ will be easy on stock cooler :) !

Regarding memory I haven't noticed any artifacts up to 2050MHz, not sure about higher clocks because I've never tried them (yet).

On a side note max memory clock for my HD2900Pro is 1071MHz(2142) and 870MHz for GPU. ATITool voltage adjustment doesn't work for me at the moment... Next week I will try flashing this card with XT BIOS.:)

Its not the voltages im having problems with, its setting the core/mem speeds .... every time i try set clock it just goes back to defult... dam thing wont set... seems wont work... will just leave it at 820/1950 for 24/7 gamming usage... unless i can try benching with ATI tool working

Final few attempts on air before switching to water-cooling for the cpu and chilled air for gpu.

I'm gettin' good temps here tonight so I'll do a few more runs to see how it goes.

For now 11K falls :)

GPU was at 661mhz / 36c idle with this run as I can't get the core past 663mhz until I get chilled air rigged up :(

GMEM was at 1055mhz.

Could be the OS, but the cpu score, from what I've read, is also video card dependant.

My mobo is holding me back currently or CPU... wont let me go over 3.4x... can do that in 1.45V but even at 1.6V still cant get 3.5... might get luckly with crosshair mobo im soon to get :D or i get Evga 8800Ultra first not sure...

On a side note... i sold both 7900GTO for £125 each and bought this His 2900xt for £200... so i basically got upgrade for free.. one card thats sameish power as two 7900gto's... but also can use DX10 and HDR+AA at same time and its phyiscally smaller due to 1 vs 2 cards slotted in :D

As for CPU score it might be memory timings that also play big role as I'm on relatively tight 4-4-4-12-15 2t setting. Vista is part of blame for sure, but at least I can be 1 day on top ;)

Think your'e right Lightman. Believe its a combination of os (and os tweaks), ram timings, an that the cpu score is dependant of the gfx card. I for once ran my run at 4 4 4 12 800Mhz, wich is stock, with no os tweaks.

A few weeks ago i was bottle necked by my stupid CPU/3Dmark glitch...It seems @3.5ghz 3dmark06 was bugged with my system...After hours and hours of tweaks i discovered that setting my CPU @3.49ghz was the only way3Dmark would then reconize it as 3.5ghz...I know ,crazy wierd problem. It will run properly @3.55ghz ,but i needed it set to 3.49/3.5ghz .I will be keeping my CPU @3.5ghz and any increase in 3Dmark06 from this point on will be all VideoCard:up:

Hahaha Im sorry....It took me three weeks to go from 11427 to 11600+ with the new drivers and stuff...Im stull not at my Old Oc yet,But im workin on it ...By the way look for steppings of CCB8F 0729 xxMW.... mainly with 6000+ the 0729 is the production or week of silocon. Ive been seeing 0729 thru 0732 do over 3.5ghz on the 6000+

Im running a CCB8F 0728 GPMW ...the chips are supose to have price cut this week too ...I wish i waited a extra month :ROTF: , i woulda grabed a 6400+:yepp:

Nice score mate congrats :) Incase you didn't know your 320MB version is exactly the same as the 640MB version 'cept for half the memory. Given any bench that runs at 1280x1024 and both cards will score the exact same. You shouldn't look down on your card as being inferior to the 640MB version, well not in 3D MARK 06 atleast.

Indeed shader-clock is your benching friend. I wonder why they've taken so long to activate the shader clock control and why it wasn't suppoted to start with? The increases I'm seeing are insane.....I'm on the edge of 12k here and ain't gonna post 'till I make it :yepp: ....I've switched to watercooling and chilled air from my A/C for GPU.....and am thinking of pencil modding the mem and gpu to pull every last frame outta this sucker :D

Hmmm, so far with the new version of RivaTuner the VideoCard/memory makes the biggest impact on performance next to the ShaderClock...then the Gpu when its above 650mhz....just make shure that Card is Cooooool:up:

Ive realized that when i add 50mhz on the memory my scores increase substantially... @2016mhz on the memory i would see say 11427...then if i up the memory to 2100mhz i would pull 150-200 more points...ive taken note of this because even if you keep the Shader linked to the GPU the Memory and Shader will still give better gains overall...Even @ 600mhzGPU and 1547mhzshader, the memory provided the best results...im still tweaking and am trying for 12000. On Air and no volt mods yet:up: I know once im back @729mhzGPU and 2200mhz memory as in my sig i may need to Volt mod too keep it stable with new driver and RivaTuner...It is harder to get my Overclock back up to par with the new Nvidia Driver....I know the New RivaTuner will only give you independant Slide control with new driver so if i choose to use old Nvidia driver i wont have that option...For now my 3Dmark06 is 200points higher than when i had it Oced to 729/1728/2214mhz...

NOTE:Ive noticed that system ram @800mhz vs 1000mhz had no impact on my performance...3Dmark is more CPU and VideoCard dependant....

Also for those of you shooting for 3.5ghz on a F3 i use the 13cpu divider and Vcore of 1.58v My temp on water is in sig with 2xBIXIII. Also (CPU to NB set @1.32v)....I also use( 5xHT the Asus Deluxe mobo likes it for some reason)...Ive tried x3HT and x4HT and it screws with my memory settings over 950mhz ,,:shakes: just buggy but at least im @1000mhz again with 5-5-4-5 18TRC.....Keep em coming:up:

Now I need to find highest benchable settings, my goal 11600+, so far CPU@3500MHz stable but memory @1000MHz not so stable :( . No worries though, I will remove 2 DIMMs and ease load on mem controller. I've tested my sticks in pairs for 1000+ stable @2.2V so there still is hope :D

With nice equal temps you should be good for 3600mhz-3700mhz with good watercooling and 666mhz divider on mem :)

SOLDNER my cores run 4-5 degree apart under heavy load so it's not bad :)
I tried my CPU @3500MHz and 1.43V on my Ultra120 Extreme and it was bench stable (at least Cinebench 2xCPU and all Everest tests / temps 45C/41C). I will try to lower mem div and give it a go shortly ....

Pay attention that this run was again on 2900PRO BIOS! It was strange for me that SM2.0 score on faster processor was worse than previous run (11333). I was wondering what it can be and ... eureka! XT BIOS is older and it perform worse!
I know that this run is with mem slightly higher, but TBH on XT BIOS this setting was slower than 980MHz! :shrug:

Heh I'm saving tweaks for next weekend, now I will work out my new CPU and start looking for better motherboard! I'm sure my new 6000+ would do 3.6GHz on proper board, but PWMs on my cheap MSI are a bit scared when I'm pushing over 3500MHz @1.5V+ ;)

Nice run on that chip,now i really have to start working on my Oc...I hoping to sqeeeeeeeeeeze 100more Mhz on my 0728GPMW to give me an even 3.6ghz,then ill call it the day....On non chilled water i couldnt ask for any more...As for my 8800gts its still on Air and am pushing for 12000 as my goal for this system untill i get a :up: 4core...:up:

My new 3Dmark06...I lowerd my CPU a lil bit and have been working on just the SM2 and SM3 ...I think im starting to gain a decent Oc now despite the Beta driver and Rivatuner 2.05 ,It seems its harder to Oc with both..I mean i easily clocked whats in my sig with the Older driver,but there is a lot more potential with being able to adjust Shader with out flashing and not using a VMOD....Once i get my card to its full Oc ,Only then will i shoot for 3.6ghz on my Cpu:up:maybe ill really be able to post a decent 3Dmark!!!!!! Remeber i am only working on my SM scores for now ,this way i know my card is doing all the work:yepp:

Note:1st// I was bored and disasembled my card and put on some MXII and polished the Heatsink after a 2000lap/job .

2nd// I also installed Nylon washers under the spring screws,This allows the heatsink to mate flat with the board and closes the gap between the Shader and the memory by 2/64th of an inch.....

3rd// this allows use of the factory Grey heatsink paste on the Shader, You just make a ball the size of a BB and place on top of shader before heasink goes on ,instead of using the white thermal pad crap on it...

4th //The memory uses the white thermal pads still,but im looking into getting some of the thick paste for memory then ill i try for 2250-2300mhz:ROTF:

5th//I also modded the fan shroud ,by cutting the VENTS and center out all the way up to where the cover starts to slope down, Make shure you leave the sides and the Factory fan inlet intact !!!This way once you install the 120fan you can use the factory fan to push the AIR oneway thru card and will have no exess heat in your case:up: For a mod that cost nothing ,except stealing the 120fan off my Bigtyphoon and aluminum bracket which i cut at an angle to mount to fanshroud...one day ill bum a camera,for now check out these temps on Air only!

i;ve seen 3000 cpu score on 3dmark06 by a FX60 at 3.8ghz. I think he used only one cpu. Why cant we see a X2 6000 or 6400 hit higher than that? Any 3dmark06 results for 6400+ over 3000? I've seen Intel E6600 hit over 3000 with higher clock.

that is one goal im personally looking into right now im aroundCPU 2700points...I still havnt tried supercranking my chip, getting my 88dialed in It is very time consuming ,although Nvidia has come along way with the drivers..Its almost as good as the old days...:ROTF:

Negative, the extra memory is of no benefit whatsoever in 3D MARK 06 due to resolutions. Infact, you most likely get a higher score with your 320MB card instead of 640MB since your memory should in theory, clock a little higher.

Decided next upgrade to be a 8800Ultra as for overclocking it comes clocked very high but also it has A3 GPU core for best overclocking along with better memory chips which allow upto 2500Mhz in theory... Also Ultra ref hsf is very nice compared to GTX

i am going to buy another 8600gt and put them into sli. let's see if i can break 10000. I heard it goes up to 9500 but with little bit of OC and new driver, i think it is possible.

@Raptor22... to qualify to be on scorebord you have to be using an AMD CPU...

pslee if possible sell 8600gt and instead buying another buy outright a 8800GTS 320MB... 640mb verisions are not worth it too close to 8800gtx prices for not much gain!

So whens sum1 with a Amd/8800Ultra gona come out of the woodwork?!? :shrug:

According to ORB this is fastest AMD CF system on earth! (I know Phenom box is faster but we can't buy it for now :))

As you can see cards was on stock clocks for this test.
I also needed second PSU for CF coz my OCZ 600W didn't liked powering all my stuff :D !

It was nice and clean with cables before I decided to put second HD2900 :p:

My X-Mas will be very pure in terms of computer hardware coz I'm buying freaking HOUSE! To get some decent hardware I will need additional job ;) !

Previous run was at stock XT clocks, but this is at 770/980 which is max stable core for weaker (new) card. BTW weaker card is Sapphire...

Because Sapphire is only 1.1vgpu I'm seeing around 75C @770MHz core, but obviously top card is hotter by 5-10C!

I will push CPU today, it was stable @3570Mhz 1.525V for SuperPi and general use. I just need a bit more time to tweak it properly...

PS. at around 2AM today, before I went to bed, I did 13992 run 06 and just to let you know that 3DM03 scored 61K+... Will upload SS later today... :)

It took me couple of hours of tweaking but finally I achieved my goal! My mem won't do more than 1020MHz stable and CPU 3520MHz looks like max stable on AIR.... No matter what I do, it won't go through 3DMark CPU test over 3520MHz (but will do SuperPI and other things) ..... :shakes:

Ive got same thing with my 6400X2 can bench 3500mhz@ 14x250 with not much over stock voltage but as soon go higher i.e 3570 gets unstable/unbenchable... but this is on Crosshair mobo maby if i had your mobo would be able to get it stable?

Yes, I would prefer two HIS cards, but it still was a great fun!

What is your CPU cooling and stepping?

Also small hint! From my experience if you will lower tRC from 26 to lets say 15 you will gain between 30 and 120 Marks ;) ...

It's cooled by a Zalman 9500
stepping is CCB8F 0720RPMW and thanks for the hint
