Yorkfield screen shots from IDF
-
OMG.. 8.5s with only 5.3ghz??? this new chip surely Greatt... Congratz on the WR... you could take all WR with this new chip Fugger :D... give it a run on spi32m, 5.3ghz could do it :D
-
What speed was the 8.406sec at Charles?
-
How do you know that this chip is a B1?
-
I don't have an intel system, so I'm not familiar with their vcore, but I do believe 1.125 isn't typical...and the speeds their achieving with such low voltage! How are the power consumption of these parts, they have a large cache, so that's probably the reason for some of the high TDPs? Regardless, that's quite an amazing overclock, and the performance is ridiculous.
-
Amazing!!!!
Congratulations Fugger for your relentless efforts.
Metroid.
-
Charles, you blow my mind.
-
-
32m added, it was an early run. Ill bust one out at 5.1Ghz on the vapo.
I am on the blitz extreme now.
-
"Intel Pentium III 4950 MHz" P6 Architecture FTW!!!!
-
Is that under cascade temps or ln2?
I'm in love with this chip
-
8521 cpu marks in 3dmark06 very cool. thanks for finally posted this. also very very nice 10min 32MB superpi
-
-
More images, some were not showing up.
-
That settles it. No kentsfield for me. Awesome numbers.
-
Nice! Guess I will patiently wait for Penryn. By the way, there's a breast on your desktop in one of the pics  :p:
-
Looking promesing for Yorkfield no doubt :D What graphic card(s) used in 05? Looks like one ultra to me.

I noticed that also :p:
-
Yes, an ultra at stock speed and lod = 0
-
Sweet stuff.
Can't wait for a Penryn/Yorkfield of my own. :toast:
-
FUGGER, what about Nehalem? Maybe you are aware of its test results? :)
-
omg... last time i ran superpi i was happy to get 24 secs on 1M...
nice scores, congrats fugger
-
Yep, Not sure they stated publicly what it was. I will have to ask on that.
-
Are you going to be able to get your hands on a SkullTrail?
-
nice.. how's max FSB looking for these cpus ? :)
-
Wow.... How much time does AM3 take to complete at those speeds?!?
-
Congrats once again, this is what legends are made of :D
-
Incredible scores Fugger
Congrats :)
-
am3 is about 45 seconds
running them back to back to back, i had 10 seconds to spare.
485FSB so far on that board, I have a blitz extreme now that I am playing on. Ill update on FSB tonight.
-
That's 45sec to start, screenshot, and quit, right? Should only take a little over 18sec to run at 292FPS :D
Those screenshots are just sick....considering the big jump we recently hand with Conroe, seeing another jump so soon is just awesome
-
charles it looks as though you forgot to add LargeSys Cache for 32M SuperPi
-
Correct Dinos
That was an early run, fixing now.
more images added.
-
Hey Charles: I have been running cinebench 64 bit.
Ran 32 bit today on the WC clover at 3102mhz.
18406..
You killed my 8 cores with 4..
Congrats pal!
-
easy sub 10m at 4.6 :) but you've gotta get that FSB up heh
did they give you the flagship dual core because that's the chip most of us are drooling over :D
-
Really really impressive. One thing. Stop, relaxe and breath dude. I might of just got home from the hospital and drugged up to my eyes balls and out of it but i found it hard to catch what you were saying most of the time there. Meh im sure the 5.5 on new tec was more than a good enough reason behind it!
-
Charles, you were kinda racing there at the IDF; did they limit you to an incredibly narrow timeslot, or was it just nerves?
-
I did not want a long spot and I was very happy for the five minutes I allowed.
My machine was running for almost two hours idle at full speed, and then I ran three benches backto back.
Without water on the NB, it is booting into windows at 480FSB.

Gotcha. The results speak for themselves.
Had you met Otellini before this?
-
Quote:
Had you met Otellini before this?
Yes, briefly.
To meet some of the other Intel fellows was the ultimate experience. Chip architects from past and present designs. I met a lot of the mobile guys and platform memory guys.
-
I watched the video, as Pete said It was really impressive, even me would be very nervous out there, but you went fine. We are very proud of you have represented us there and showed them what overcloking is all about.
Metroid.
-
Fug wait for amd, that they will ask you to present new cpu
-
damn these new intel 45nm chips are gonna be great :D
-
Is this the max that this cpu can do? ore where you limited by a 'save' working speed?
-
This is just amazing.
Congrats Fugger.
From the looks of things you did a fantastic job!
-
I hate WMP.
Every time I try to fast forward to see Fugger's moment in the sun, I lose SOUND ! ! !
Every.
Single.
Time.
(Although I am using WMP9, but I don't want to admit that's the reason.)
-
WOW.. thats freakin awesome ..8.4sec   .. god damn !!!
-
Hey Charles, Great show man, and well done. look forward to seeing you in Taiwan soon. (I've got those Betelnuts ready!!)
Check out this article on your performance..

Can you imagine peepz of TeamJapan with one of these at IDF?

I'm sure there are a lot of people wanting to see what the masters of SuperPi will be able to do with those chips.
-
Wow, I remember it wasn't long ago that Intel wouldn't even acknowledge the possibility of running their hardware above stock speeds. congrats Fugger! Bringin down the house!!!
-
Amazing stuff! Gotta start saving.
-
omg! Thats a very nice chip dude! Good to see a XS member overclockin in idf, in a presentation.
-
Awesome results Fugger, this is sureley my next upgrade.
-
those are beautiful pictures
-
Fugger, will you be doing any results on air or water? I think a great deal of people are dieing to see what it will do in the majority or consumer's pc's.
Thanks,
Ryan
-
Congrats also into this thread Charles..... :D
MAJOR QUESTION: Cold bug?.........:)
-
congrats man. I wonder what was going through some of the peoples heads when your brought that monstrosity out onto the stage:D
these yorkies are lookin really nice!

UNFORTUNATELLY, I expect to have cold bug do to 45nm......
Maybe ~ -100*C or so..... :(

C2D have cold bug at -120 I think or something like that
-
yay, looks like you didnt get much sleep there charles, and your skin is amazingly pale for someone living in a desert ^^
awesome results, thanks for sharing the pics!
and way to go for bringing xs to the next level!
nobody in the industry can afford to not know what xs is now :rocker:
-
45nm seems to pwn :yepp:
Just like your sig says.. surly far beyond anything anyone has ever seen before.
-
Good show Fugger, you stayed calm unlike some others :p.
-
Awesome stuff =D, spreading overclocking to the market, so now they will make chips that overclock better, excellent.
-
Great results, but your speech was much too fast :D
-
I did not see any cold bug effects @ -110c but I will be running LN2 on my new block this weekend.
6ghz will go down in the next two weeks, we are about to see a 7s pi runs

Wel when i read this,
Asus P5K3-D no mods of any kind
I was impressed even more, cpu PLL, vdroop, vcmh, OMG you will hit a landmark with it, for sure when Vinces drops a F1 at your door :D
ah srry, just read that you will use your own custom pot!
cool looking forwars!
-
A Fritz 9 benchmark would have been so cool ...
Compare .

QFT! Congrats Fugger, you da man!
-
No one got owned, this is an unreleased part that I was allowed access.
There are a few in route around the world now so more scores may pop up by others soon.
Like I pointed out, I ran at a fair low speed and these scores can easily be beat with the same stepping.

Runs to check for packages at front door..

I love the ever so familiar cascade. Looks like it needs be cleaned and cased up a bit though :) Great chips and I wonder if this will be the beginning of the end for the need of overpowered single-stages for quads.

Ever so modest. Can't wait for the 6ghz 7sec pi runs. Awesome.
-
Yeah, at this point, I'm definitely looking forward to the first posting with Air Cooling.
Not all of us have access or interest in the fancy Dry Ice runs and Cascade set-ups.
"Real world" improvements on air is what I'm concerned with, now that we've had a taste of what this new line of chips can do under extreme cooling. (Thanks to Fugger)
.
***Interesting note***
I had never run the Fritz program (posted above) oddly enough, even though I've been aware of it for quite some time.
I just ran it and compared it to the chart in krampak's post. The results came up as follows: Speed - 10.23 / Kilo nodes - 4909.
That puts me miles away from the top of the chart, but respectable, nonetheless.
Now that I know where I stand - I'd love to see how that Penryn chomps away at Fritz.
.
-
Very nice man. Congratz :)
You are the best :D
-
I personally want to know how well the retail chips will oc. As fugger mentioned, he used an es cpu, and I hate to rag, but we've got to be realistic that not everyone will get the same results he did

Priceless reaction from the crowd when you told them what temp it was running @. And watching that chip haul through superpi...unbelievable. GJ!!
-
Very nice FUGGER
Congratulations
-
I finally got a chance to see the video today.
Charles was excellent..Smoothe and polished..

Charles you looked like you do this sort of thing everyday, very cool.
-
Congrats for the call up and demo! :woot:
Awesome stuff Charles.
BTW, anyone else having difficulty seeing some pics on the 1st page? I can only see a few in Firefox but all of them appear in Opera or IE...

not likely, cooling dual socket quads with 2x two stage cascades would be a very expensive proposition indeed.
Most likely you would have two single stages, one for each.

Here's the real deal... do you remember what happened in the past months ?
Let me help you out a bit... "lucky" guys with Intel Core 2 Quad Engineering Samples ( Stepping B1/B2 )...they got nice overclocks...ES chips you say, so don't expect retail samples to do better...oh well...retailed B3 stepping launched...and people reaching way better clocks with retail chips.
There are lots of factors here, but core revisions are a plus for the retail channel ;)

Lol at that youtube, I was asked if I had a second, when I turned around there was a camera is in my face that ended as quickly as it started.
Stephen is in the background = proof he went to IDF. :)
Also, Robert from Corsair, Christopher (memory arch Intel), Ken Brown from Nvidia or at least he was at his booth.
