Seems like they got rid of the old 70's style condo that was cooling the chipset for a little more "traditionnal look" :D
this is too early.............
Not really Ken, only what 3 weeks away?
http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mainboa...820120456.html
:soap: Only 2 PCIe 16x slots? I'll have to pass. Here's hoping Asus comes through for me so I can run Crossfire and my Areca card.
they finally got rid of the parallel port on the i/o connectors, and went with some e-sata's. this looks like the next mobo i will buy, in ddr2 flavor...
bump
i will get mine this week:D
i hope to have one by friday.
in sweden a few got the boards today.
i have got mine :)

Lovely pics....please post more if you can, maybe focus on the layout and the chips.
It's available at www.komplett.ie for €265 minus shipping.
will the Thermalright ultra-120-extreme fit?
nice, mine will be comming in a day or so , any results yet anyone? high fsb?
directcanada has some left ncix is sold out
NCIX has it in stock atm zsamz...
After reading the tomshardware review on this motherboard, I wouldn't jump on it...at least not yet...you might just wind up spending a lot of $$$ for a motherboard that can't overclock better than any of $150 P35 mobos out now.
Hopefully BIOS updates will improve overclocking....Am I the only one that is reading on Intel's repeated (I believe 4 in one month) BIOS revisions given to board companies before launch of this chipset?...couple that with the respin Intel had to do and it makes me feel a bit underwhelmed about X38....maybe that's why the X48 is coming out just a month after this??
I agree. I wouldn't jump on x38 for a couple of reasons:
1 - Need DDR3 to utilize full potential.
2 - x48 is just around the corner and is supposed to be "the" overclocking chipset.
3 - P35 is doing just fine and dandy and the prices of P35 based mobo's should fall some more.
4 - pci-x 2.0 bandwidth will not be utilized for at least until a chipset or two come out.
5 - prices of these mobo's!!
here some first benchs from me

one other guy who has got also this board with 2x hd2900xt got on a quad @ 4,1 ghz about 20k points. GFX Cards also @ Stock :)
i want the tool to overclock the cards :( bot nobody gived it to me
greeds Feichti
they are not allowed to give bios tool out :(
You can try this:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=159890
any suggestions to install the 120 extreme that backplate gonna be a pain
Feichti: Nice, try push that B3 CPU as far you can :)
nice results so far ,give us a o5 in cf :p: have you tried 8x multipler for higher fsb? mine hasnt come yet ,on the way though.
i got to 545fsb
9986 read 9900 write 10300 copy
needs some tweeking need new bios too lol only 0.03 droop n 0.02 overvolt on memory
cpu running cooler 17c motherboard 27c aux 33c "maybe its because i relapped it lol" arctic silver on everything lol
i flashed to f4 bios n it wont keep it
bios recovery puts back f3
once overclocking fails its a pain
i cant get memory to go past 1150 my p35c would let me go up to 1250
lets see how it does with 4 sticks :)
now give that board some abuse :)
It's going to be nice to see all the different kinds of X38 here in October...
But looks like Gigabyte has made what was expected of them...:)
mobo seems ok
just testing a new chip with Nautilus 500

it's not a bad chip with dual 8M SuperPi with 1.44v under load but so far the FSB is around 514MHz for 32M hmmm need to do some testing on P35 just to make sure the chipset isn't topping out too quick
so far the RAM doesn't seem to OC to same levels as P35 gigabyte
Probably seeing the fact that DDR2 support for the X38 is more or less a legacy inclusion on the MCH. BearlakeB (P35) was developed with both DDR2 and 3 performance in mind, while BearlakeC (x38) has many more DDR3 optimizations in place to the extent it seems that DDR2 was somewhat left to flounder.
after 550fsb is where it really shines:D
10200 read 10000 write 10500 copy
i gonna push more lol
Ordered mine, very happy to see Gigabyte loose the com port and add extra usb.
It's a festivous miracle! ;)
Is there any place I can get this in the US?
my x38 goin back for rma
bios all messed up
here some more pics from my X38-DQ6

A new board arrived here, the X38-DS5
6phase seems to be the major difference but I will take it for a spin anyway.
paul at i4memory is running the new bios fine so could be your board
don't these boards have like 50 million bioses or something which would allow you to recover
I recieved my board 2 days ago. Manage to install Xp ans Vista without any trouble. After the install i decided to update bios. Now the board wont boot anymore. RMA on the way :/
I couldnt get my MCW-30 on the SB, and I didnt have a heatsink to replace the heatpipe assembly. I had RAMsinks for the mosfets but since I have nothing to cool the SB I had to just run the stock cooling on the NB/SB/Mosfets.
Also, by sticking with the stock heatpipe I couldn't remove the crazycool assembly on the rear of the board to use a backplate for my Fuzion. Will have to get a TR mosfet cooler and a decent chipset cooler for the SB so I can WC the NB.
Really looking forward to getting some time in with this board but way to busy to get around to it.
Will have to settle for later this week.
Here is a pic of my board :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...x/DSC_0022.jpg
My DS3 has a DQ6 bios on it. E1
this board is a bit touchy with extreme team ram.took a few reboots before i got them to play ,and still a bit har to get high fsb with these pc 6400. managed to bench 4,2 with my 6850. kan boot 4,0 then tune software for the rest, still working out the biose here .
ok, just installed the board, flashed to the F4 bios and board is dead........WTF!?!?!?!?!
anyone know how to fix this??
ok, so i fixed the board, just take the battery out for 5 mins, and put it back in, board boot back up.............thank god!!
My own review of GA-X38-DQ6 ... (in Czech language) but graph dont need a translation ...
http://www.pctuning.cz/index.php?opt...9486&Itemid=43
heres where i am so far http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=249061
board wont boot at these settings when ram is not set to spd.im just about orthos stable at 4,4 . but i cant bench 3dmarks at this speed ,which i find a bit wierd , any memset for this board?
so i changed over to X38-DQ6 from DS3P on my Single Stage setup and thought i might as well flash to latest bios
so from F3 to F4
my conclusion is DO NOT USE F4 bios if you have this board!!!!!!!!!!!!
F4 is ****ed  i could not go past 445Mhz FSB no matter what and even that wasn't too crash hot stability wise >> i've spent a good 2.5 hours trying to figure it all out and since i have a fair bit of experience from the last few months of testing with Gigabyte boards i was a bit surprised that i could not figure out WTF was going on
after trying to figure it all out i decided to flash back to F3 bios
and now all is fine
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/3...i169vssip3.png
DO NOT FLASH TO F4!!!
it's a shame because F4 has some excellent voltage and RAM strap change options :(
F4 working fine for so far, also im not pushing too high of an fsb, 389x9 = 3.5ghz..........thats preety much all i need.....im sure a new bios should be out very soon.
nice dino , nice fsb . are you booting with those settings?
any memset for this board?
they should but I had to clear CMOS once so far.
First flash to F4 required a CMOS clear. Rolled back to F3 and back to F4 again.
Using the following Bios Settings (Bios F4) GPU benches have increased 8 to 16% over P35 with same hardware.
Graphics Booster "Turbo"
PCI "105"
Performance Enhance "Turbo"
Memory Multi "266D" applies to Corsair PC8500 5.5.5.15 2T E6850 @450 to 455 FSB
PCIEX "1000"
PCI-E Overvoltage "1.5 to 2.00" as applied to Ultra 8800
latest release of CPUZ 1.41 reports memory Mhz above 4000 Mhz X38 Chipset.
No MemSet for this chipset. Everest will release update for X38 this week.
i was asked by tech to take out batterie before i rma
so i'll do it when i can lol
whats all that about you have to call question against that 85% drivers probably
For people having team extreme pc2 6400 3 3 3 8 ram .think twice before ordering this board ,as these ram kan only boot in spd ,hopefully i biose will fix it , i thought my board was bugged ,until i got hold off another ram (adata)
now i can set the timmings manual ,which i couldnt before.
My X38-DQ6 is booting my Patriot PC9600 with SPD @ 5-7-7-23, running E6850 ES @ stock untill XP is set up. True about the scare with flashing to F4 bios, mine did exactly the same as others have reported in this thread, but re-setting the CMOS fixes it. No worries.
Any more updates on this board? Faster....Slower than a p35 chipset:cool:
My X38-DS3 with 6 phase power doesnt hold vcore too well, far too jumpy to what I am used to now with the quads at high speed.
I managed 4950Mhz 450x11 but stability was a problem. I dropped the FSB back to 333 and I still could not get to/past 5Ghz with stability.
DS3 might be better for dual core
i've been emailed some beta bioses for X38 to try out so we will see if there is any improvement there :)
HELLO GUYS...:)
A few test for me too...
max FSB...

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...Q6/5362mhZ.jpg
WOW, nice results my friend...
Any word on when a new bios is coming out????
@ Dinos22 i could help you test those beta bios's ;)
nice stuff #82 ,what ram you using? any chance off biose screenies?
How about max fsb on a good air solution? One more thing, is 12phase really better than Asus 8phase? I can't really decide between the 2 for my next purchase... And it need to around 570+ fsb, which is really useful if my cpu could really go that far, who knows!
Dont think he will share the bioses dudes. They are beta and migth end up costing $ for gigabyte if you slaugther the board :D
^^^ what he said
sorry guys
but i think i've seen someone upload them on a different site lol
if i were you i would not put beta bioses on as they may void your warranty
anyone have any luck with 4x1gb of ram with this board, can seem to get memtest to not get errors with 4 sticks.........im using one kit of g.skill hz d9gmh and one kit of ballistix 6400 d9gmh......any help would be appreciated, thanks.......and do i need to pump alot of voltage to the mch to handle 4gbs?
could it be the F4 bios, should i go back to F3????
Mine is also here from 2-3 days , maybe in weekend i'll also give some feedback to the damn thing :p:

Ye i saw it too :
04.10.07
GA-X38-DQ6 - BetaBIOS Version F5D
Improved performance
Improved Vdroop /in better way i hope:rofl: /
And quicker Speedstep Multi change
anyone try the graphic /turbo and extreme settings? what do they actually do? theres some settings for the ram aswell , u guys touching the reference voltages? im benching 6850@4500 now :)
Hi,
I'm an oc noob and i would like to know which voltage settings will i have to increase with the following settings?
9x400 = 3.6ghz
1:1 mem ratio = 800mhz
memory voltage is set to run at 2.1v (default voltage for ram)
MCH?
PCI-e?
CPU?
any other voltage settings need to be increased?
Thanks
