Intel Core 2 Duo E6X50 Preview: The Desktop Gets a 1333MHz FSB
-
looks like i have a lot of reading to do tommorrow
-
I cant take the techreport one serious. Its benched with a 7900GTX and it affects game testing alot.
And E6750 got its own board (P35 based), while all the 1066 CPUs another (x975 based).
Bad review :(
-
Sounds crazy :)
Our Core 2 Duo E6750 sample was a particularly great overclocker, at stock voltage with a retail Intel heatsink/fan we were able to run the system at 3.68GHz (460 x 8.0)
-
The anandtech E6750 CPUZ screenshot does not show which stepping was used, irev210 has already tested the "G0" stepping with great success on this forum, he got better results than anandtech using the cheaper E6550 chip!
E6550 "G0" testing 3.8GHz w/ 1.35Vcore Low Volts, High Clocks!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=147890
.
-
my E6850 is G0 revision ... and 4Ghz at 1.45V runs perfectly and Orthos stable!
-
nice.. :) I hope I have time to read.. :)

all 6x50 chips will be G0 stepping so discussion about what stepping is that 1333 MHz chip is pointless for now.
the thing is many comercial reviewers play with oc for 30 minutes and say this cpu is not able to go beyond e.g. 3.5 GHz. the other thing is not every chip is going to scale same and the last one those are ES, iīll wait for retail to make my opinion.

4GHz with Ninja air cooler at 1.50V ... and 4100MHz with watercooler ... at 1.53V real ...
-
Hmmm, I'm a little worried about the price for these now - I was kinda/sorta hoping for the E6750 to only be around $183 (as was stated on a few websites). If thats no the case, I may as well bite the bullet and get a Q6600
-
not all 6x50 will be good oc'ers like some..
http://i4memory.com/reviewimages/cpu...0/E6750_00.jpg
E6750 G0 - was told these do 3600mhz at 1.46v orthos stable on air but i'm only started to test them myself and i only use water cooling

G0 is Retail stepping, E0 is some pretty old ES chip ...
-
can somebody who read some of those articles sum it up.
i cant justify spending that much time reading articles about an fsb bump :P
-
From just the Anandtech article....Photoshop CS3 and Oblivion went up 11% and 6%, respectively. Most other apps/benches went up 1-2%. Power went up ~2W.
Intel says they'll be out late summer. Price point for the E6750 is $183 per1000 and the 3GHz E6850 will go for $266 per1000.
-
Most presale sites are listing for $289ish for the e6850 (zipzoomfly, tankguys, etc.)
-
My price in Germany is 100%!
This is 270 EUR for E6850 Retail in Box!
On stock next week!
-
Late summer??I thought they would be out for the next price-cuts by Intel(22 july)???

Awesome, I'll take that one! :rocker: I wonder how hard it might be to get e6750 to 4ghz orthos stable?

not hard, just depends on FSB wall
biggest problem with G0 chips is FSB wall. :(

Your 517 (for 750/850) on air is already enough and add 40+ with xtreme cooling ;)

damn, looks like g0 still has the potential to disappoint. seeing a lot more 3.6-3.8's than before. I was really hoping to see 4.0-4.2

Sure it's all luck :) 6x00 had the same problem although the lowest wall I personally had was around 450.

TXT is Lagrande. Or the trusted computing platform.

Lower multi and higher prices, no thanks.

Higher prices? I don't think so :D
me think prices will be the same as the 1066MHz FSB CPUs or lower
-
450 or there abouts will do me....
maybe ill ditch it and buy some other junk instead
need guinea pigs to buy some so i can see :lol2:
most e6600's are/were at 3.2-3.6 on air
...based on the little info. it looks like 6x50's will be 3.6-4.0 on air mostly.
still a nice little revision imo.
4.2 on water should be a sinch

why is everybody disappointed when an E6850 reaches let's say 3,6Ghz?I would be glad if mine would reach that :D
-
E6750 ftw.
Only $183?!?!?! wow...
-
-
OBR, wanna swap with my E6750 G0 hehe

No, 6750 will have same multi and price as current 6420. 6550 will have same multi and price as current 6320. You're just starting from a much higher stock.
-
7x multi isn't going to cut it for goals of 4ghz unless you have board and ram that can do 571 :)
-
How big of a difference in terms of performance are intels new 1333 fsb chips over the old 1066 fsb chips?

the difference is negligible. itīs just transition to higher fsb, intel wants people to switch to 3-series chipsets, since old chipsets dont "officially" support 1333 MHz bus. thatīs intel, always pushing for new things, which is not bad i guess.
-
Damn, is it my impression or the E6850 has 8x multi? :(
wish it would be 10.
I was looking for the E6700 and if E6850 really gets a 8x multi, i should probably then move to the 6700.
Any tips from ya guys?

6550 7
6750 8
6850 9999999

So that means the E6570 will run about $200 for the consumer? In other words the price at lets say TankGuys will be the price we see on/after the 22nd?
-
aye probably around 200-210 at launch. it's already available for ~210-215 at many places. i ordered mine friday night for 213 shipped
-
Looks like I'll be preordering tonight :)

Post results NEOWWW! ;)
-
initial testing on dfi p965-s shows that
this thing blows
:(
seems to be similar to obr's results with his l719a's.
before i swapped cpu's, my settings were 8x450=3600 with 1.50v.
It did numerous up and downs before posting at 8x266=2133 with 1.35v
Seeming to be having a really hard time. If I can't get this thing to do 3.6ghz with <1.4v, it's going FS. i'm looking for something that'll do 8x500=4000 with 1.46-1.5v.

Sigh, looks like I might be selling mine...
Where did you purchase yours?
-
PGN. same place as you?
tried 8x400=3200 with 1.5v. went into windows. used setfsb to scale to 8x425=3400. instant lockup.
testing 7x450=3150 at 1.5v right now to see if it's actual megahertz issue or fsb issue.
edit: looks like it's fsb issue. the optimistic me wants to say the dfi p965-s is going crazy with the new g0 333fsb's, but that's probably just poor logic optimism...
test of 7x450 failed.
-
yikes, not good. I hope the more expensive E6850 are more optimistic. Considering I am going from an X2 to a C2D any speed on the E6850 will be faster than what I have now however I would love 3.6 to be easily obtainable.
-
officially going FS. looks like good ol e6400 will have to duke it out longer. maybe even keep it until penryn.
7x400=2800 chugs along at stock vcore. 7x420 clockgen is instant lockup.
-
