Sweet :)
:D not bad.
1000/1050 might be there :)
with that cpu speed and single card - nice teaser, I think another one is in the race :D
what a find :woot:
looking forward to this round for sure
Hmm, nice
I think we all have an idea of what this card may be *cough ATI*
it looks like his "unknown" videocard is overclocked a bit :)
Lol sick!!!
i think overclocked a bit is an understatement.
:) Stock cooler :)
PS. Another 'missing' file ;)

anybody know about how much does the 8800gtx@default do in 3d '06? with similar setup. This is really interesting :gamer:
WRC,
8800GTX with february forceware
SM2 ~ 4900
http://www.ixbt.com/video/itogi-vide...1280-pcie.html
HDR/SM3 ~ 5000
http://www.ixbt.com/video/itogi-vide...1280-pcie.html
The reference nV G80GTX I had till around 2 days back (planning for 2x R600 :D) did around ~12500 in 06 with a stock QX6800 on the eVGA 680i, XP 32bit with ForceWare 158.22.
KTE, total score means nothing
how much SM2 and HDR/SM3 ?
As I said, I don't have the card with me now and hardly used it anyway, but that's why I gave a rough approx of total score based on some notes I had made in an email. :)
If you really want me to estimate and think back, I "think" it did around ~5100 SM2 and ~5400 SM3. ;)
I won't be far off with at.
In another forum kinc mentioned this 'mystery' card scales very well with increases to PCIE frequency. Care to comment more on this Kinc? Does increasing the pcie freq net a higher score/more performance even at identical clocks if keeping the frequency lower or does this card only allow you to get higher clocks because the pcie freq is raised? Can you comment how high on the pcie freq you went and does the card scale linearly? Like 1mhz pcie freq = x amount of mhz of gpu/mem clock of the card?
Raising the PCIE freq from 100 to 116MHz on a 975X with a unknown graphics card scaled very good. 118MHz didnt do much on stock clocks, no increase. With oc I tested 120MHz (the limit using SATA) and got a healty increase again, much bigger hen you usually get. On the same clocks.
nice, I've been running my pcie at 125 mhz without a problem for quite some time now.
david901101's avatar says it all :D
Heehee
More more!! :slobber: :slobber: :D
Wow. On air and stock cooler. My god thats insanity.
if thats true i own one.
Edit - Didn't mean to sound like i dont trust you kinc, of course I believe in your results, what i meant was that if retail samples perform like this I own one.
:toast:
Kinc nice
hopefully i will get 8.37 tomorrow

I had a feeling it was going to be that way and with Sampsa himself more or less saying the same thing I am not looking forward to the gaming results with this card. If all you do is run 06 than this card is for you otherwise its Nvidia or another 4 month wait for ATI's 'refresh' offering.
Sampsa, can you say anything on if a Swiftech MCW60 can fit on the card or not?
ati went with stability first with the drivers.
Performance will go up.
hello again kinc, when you say without the shim do you mean the shim on the card itself around the gpu or the shim you put in to fill the 1mm gap , so as long as the gpu waterblock is bolted tight a thin shim may not be required, if you could confirm that that'd be grat, keep up the good work
Glen
Sorry I ment without the coldplate. The waterblock I am using covers the shim around the gpu wich is slighty higher then the die. I did a test where i first tightend the bolts like I usually do and wasnt quite happy with the contact. I tested too tighten a bit more (I stopped when the pcb started to bend;) ), and the contact was as good as ever. I am still recomendng you to use a coldplate so you minimize the risk of dmaging the card.
So Oc'ed the 8800gtx's will still hold the records for this round even in 06?
thanks kinc i have been looking all over for some 1 mm copper sheet with no luck so hopefully i'll get away with not using one, i know your busy but i appreciate you taking the time to answer, a pair of these should work well in my old p5w-dh , thanks again, you're still the man ;) Oh on a side note would you recommend using ram sinks on the upper side of the card as well,as the ram chips are on both sides on these or is this not really neccessary with these thanks
http://www.petrastechshop.com/2x2x1cobl.html
1/4" thick copper but only $6 and petras rocks
well this looks promising :)
Kinc goes subzero:

And this is far from the peak ;)

Can I get back to the earlier point about synthetic benchies vs real world gaming?
What do we think the real world gaming / 3d performance is gonna be like on these *mystery* cards...sky high or dive bomb?
thanks i am cutting up an old amd xp heatsink as we speak, thanks again a money saving tip as well can't be bad
oh and no one else has mentioned it but the 3dmark 05 canyon flight score of yours 165fps beats the existing no.1 score for a single 8800gtx by 5 fps :) and your using 1400mhz less cpu speed
wow :slobber:
That's 5fps more than Hipro's 160FPS's singlecard WR run!(with CPU @ 5,4GHz!)
Have you already found hard voltmods? Hopefully, Wizzard will make Ati tool working with this :)
Can someone explain the coldplate solution to me real quick? I plan to mod my XT w/ a waterblock but am a little concerned about the raised shim around the GPU. I would rather not have the GPU naked; I've heard that on past ATI cards the shim was only removed by a sharp knife or razor blade.. not screws like on G80.
Is the piece of copper linked from Petras used inbetween the GPU and the waterblock, or how does it work? Can someone explain it in detail giving thermal material application as well?
Thanks!
singlecard WR!

DAmn that was quick lol. Now give it a few more drivers and days of OCing and surely it will do more. 30k gratz
O o o, just edged K|NGP|N's 29686 8800 ultra single card WR in 05.....
Both cards very close, kingpin needed 5300mhz for 29.6K where
as Kinc with 100mhz less about 300+ points over...
im sure both benchers tweaked well so that would weight out
any thoughts there......not bad.......8800 vs 2900.....
2900XT still better buy @ 429.00 usd get performance
equal to or slight better of an 8800 gtx/ultra....;)
Hehe, seems like the show just started
For benching this will be monster. If ati hadn't screwed up texture units, things might be different...
Holy Crap the XT is fast, I cant imagine the XTX!
GOGOGO ATi! :woot:!
Ouch 1147 mhz on core.....
We have not again the card.. and he give us a WR.....:D
tssss tssss tsss!!!!! (you desesperate me....)
In all honesty, I am looking at 32-33k here when pushed with release drivers :D
I don't expect less.
Nay, not pushed enough yet, eh Marcus :woot:
OMG!!
Congrats to Kinc :woot:
ATi is getting core clocks very close to CPUs ones :D
They should catch up around 2009 with clocks coz of Fusion CPU.. :)
PS. I'm just reached a bit over 10k in 3DM05 ... Kinc score gives something to think about...
Damn insane.
Ati is finally back, waited 3 months for this.:toast2:
just the begining? :D
kinc, do you by any chance know when will Ati Tool supporting R600 be released ?
Kinc nice score.
have you try CF yet??
i thinky 1GB version bios are too old (3/1 vs 4/19)... that is why perf lower than 512MB :(
any chance to let me know the ati tool you use :D
Great job kinc as always :toast: ATI always rocks in 05'. Can't wait to see Sami in action again too. Long time coming for that. I thought the 2900 would really give it to the ultra in 05', more left? Closer than I thought.
What about the rest of the benches....06,03,01,am3? After NDA?
How close are the 2 gpus in those? :D
Ultra isn't tapped out yet guys, but it looks to be a good fight shaping up in 05 for sure.
so the 2900 XT did 950mhz core on the stock cooler with just a volt mod???
The 30k picture was not suppose to be released until tomorrow, but I guess we can't do much about it now...
Sad that you can't trust people. :(
We have more though, but have taken precautions. I don't know what to say about this really.
//Andreas
Nice result Kinc!
What kind of cooling do you use?
Radeon HD 2900 XT will be interesting card in 3DMarks, especially 05 :)
Good job Kinc! :toast:
why did the mem go down to 999 from 1120?
I certainly don't hope you're referring to me.
I had nothing to do with this, but can just conclude that someone took the time to sit around and spam Kinc's server with random filename hoping to get lucky.
The picture was uploaded for other than the general public. Kind of sad people don't have better things to do.
//Andreas
Indeed it is. I just don't see the point of name-calling, especially as the person above have no idea of what actually happened.
Kinc was perhaps a bit careless, but I know why he did it and neither I nor anyone else thinks this was his fault this leaked. None of us really expected people to be this desperate, which we only have ourselves to blame.
Both techPowerUp and VR-Zone have been set up to similar things, we all look kind of stupid by now.
//Andreas
blame, not blaim.
Thank you all :)
I'm pretty sure there is alot left in the card. The reason why I cant go higher is that the cascade cant keap up with the card. Imagine a R600 running 1.46V (stock 1.2V) and 1150MHz. Hotter then the Sun. For 1 test I have been able to run 1204MHz with this cascade. Core temp is close to 0C during load wich is silly really :)
For rest of the Marks R600 will need a new driver, wich is around the corner i hear.
I have tested to lower volts to 1.0V to test for coldbug and -82C core temp no problem at all. Not even in post. R600 is a ln2 baby for sure :D
So it was under cascade? not Dry Ice or LN2...? ... Nice..
lol that poor cascade , 1.46vcore and the temps go 0°C :p: .
looks like we have a new winner under the hotty's :D , great work now get those containers off ur's and run some LNē :D
Simply WOW!!!
Now I'm interested, great news kinc thanks! :toast:Quote:

Besides if I know my ATI, we (and by we I mean the enthusiasts) are truly loved by ATI. There's nothing they love more than seeing us push their hardware further and further ;)

Doesn't look too bad. I wonder how it will do in games.
