ASUS Bearlake P35 Chipset DDR2 P5K Deluxe and DDR3 P5K3 Deluxe (56K warning)
-
thx for sharing Andre! At first glance they look similar to P5B dlx :D
-
wow .... how u get all ES stuff from asus andre??
-
Not bad.
Wondering how that DDR2 version will perform against good old X975 and P965.
When NDA ends?

damn nice ... now do u have DDR3 dimms and working bios?? lol
btw does X38 supports Crossfire?? cuz if it does .. i am switching to that .. screw nvidia.. if u wanna do SLI nv board is ur only option, but for Crossfire if AMD let Intel use it on their board. that will be pretty neat

Still a month waiting... I can't wait.:slobber:
But thank you for the pictures! :D
-
Hey Andre :D Thanks for the pics...is it just a performance NDA, or are confirmed chipset cababilities under NDA too.
Can you tell us what the 2nd PCI-E x16 slot works at?
Are the ICH9R SB fully implemented on these boards, and if so, can you say what the improvements in spec are?
Think thats it (for now) :p:
Cheers!
Kenny

X38 support Crossfire for sure and performance is better than P35. I cannot talk too much about that.
-
haha nice, ahh and ok i understand that ur under NDA

The Bearlake NDA include all. I only can share motherboard pics.
P35 is PCIE 16X+4X. It's the same from P965.
I don't know about ICH9 because I never test my hard driver's performance.
-
hey andre thanks for keepn us up whats . i thuoght this was supposed to be released a mounth ago
-
I can't wait for some head to head comparisons

Where is mouse PS2 port? No one said that.

You know that Andre posted pics of 2 boards, right?

Forget the mobo, I want that camera :D

It's going to be a long month's wait before we see some performance figures.
Thanks for sharing as usual Andre

Oh well, so i might be able to upgrade MoBO before CPU =]
...and what for is there a green light diode between the SB and IDE(marked SB_PWR)?? It indicates whether is the SB powered  ?
-
another one  didn't you also get a Gigabyte mobo too :slobber:
i waaaaaaant one......... :D ... gotta get some DDR3 gear from some friends :):slobber:
-
nice looking boards except for one thing: the realcrap pci gbit chip. :slapass:
the pci-e nics from realtek are quite ok, but the pci parts are really the worst gbit chips you can find on the market.
they should have stayed with the good old marvell chips they used for 3 years.

YHeah, pretty good camera :)
IŽll need to upgrade my Canon S1 IS....

SB means StandBy, its a LED that shows you that the board is getting power from the PSU

Glad ASUS is releasing another motherboard covered in roller coasters of heat-pipes, fancy Brand-Engineered Logos, and shiny colors. I almost which they would make a motherboard for those of us that are more concerned with performance, price, and modability over silly marketing gimmicks.
-
nice motherboard
Andre, any info about any republic of gamers motherboard? maybe the X38?
-
will the x38 be released shortly after the p35?
-
Thanks for sharing Andre. Looking forward to the new stuff on the market.
-
damned this sucks...planning to upgrade around june, had my rig already figured out and now this...But will this not be VERY expensive in the beginning(cpu, mobo and DDR3 memory)?
-
i think for people who doesn't update their pc that often, the best time to do is @ Q4-07 or Q1-08
-
Heatpipes actually offer silence, so it's not only a marketing gimmick.
However, putting a heatpipe that close to the memory module slots is a little...well... uhh.. odd. I mean, there's barely a millimeter or two space between the two. Fortunately it's DDR3 with lower voltage and lower heat dissipation.
-
Some prices in Europe ;)
Link
-
Love the multiple e-SATA ports and extra rear USB ports. Of course, I won't be upgrading my mobo any time soon, but this looks really nice.
-

Heard of DFI yet??? :stick:
-
Very interesting indeed, looks good! :)
It looks like a nice competitor for the DFI P35-boards that are on the DFI Q4 2007 Roadmaps (posted here).
Hope to see some X38-goodness during Computex-week, we'll wait and see! I'm drooling just thinking about that... :slobber:

can u post some bench or spi andre? :toast:

Yep DFI really has that part of the market covered,,, as long as you don't mind waiting until the end of a chipset's lifecycle
-
Can't wait for results...
-
I bet X38 will be another $400 motherboard... I just expect this boards to be good and not many failures as the 680is (in many cases not all)
-
The good thing is that this time they are releasing the mid-range chipsets before the high end ones (975X before P965) so they can make sure it actually DOES perform better ;)
-
Was planning on building a new setup with E6420 and DFI 965-S Dark but may wait another couple of months.

Yeah indeed..been planning my new rig for 7 or 8 months now,and evrytime when i was ready to bite the bullet something new came around(8800gtx,price-cuts C2D,2900xt...).I'm willing to spend around 2300 euro's for a new rig(without monitor etc),and because i don't spend evry dime on my machine i want the best bang for the buck...but the longer i wait, the more i get confused:slapass:

I canŽt wait for the results to come :D
My DS3 will probably be retired, it was a good companion... :)
-
i must know how much performance boost brings the DDR3 so i will know what i'm going to do with my 2x1gb DDR2 Crucial Ballistix DDR1000.(stay with P35 or go directly to X38).if initial DDR3 performance sucks,i will stick with my DDR2.
-
Whats the release date that they are aiming for with these? I was gonna get a ds3 and a e6600 but with these coming out soon im tempted to get some DDR2 and the 6600 and which ever version of the new mobo is best on release. Im still stuck on this old school 939 x2 with ddr and im itchign for something new.

I think Intel is pushing the new memory formats just to stick it to amd (on chip memory controller makes it harder to adapt to new memory)
-
I think a lot of people are overlooking that "Made In China" in the corner over there.
From what I've seen all the striker extreme's made in china can't even hit 400mhz fsb...
Also this heatpipe crap really doesn't work very well. The nb on my striker is still boiling with that heatpipe on.
Many people have resorted 2 cutting the heatpipes and just getting some hr-05's.
If you just look at it logically it makes no sense. As everyone knows heat travels up. Also the SB is most likely the coolest part in that whole heat pipe loop. Why would you want heat going from a boiling NB to an already hot mosfet?
-
So this definitely means now is not a good time to make the jump to the Conroe bandwagon... Damitt
-
Would sure be nice if Asus found a way to adapt the X38 to DDR2...

nice pics.. :)

Hurray! More useless heatpipes! And why in DDR3's name P5K has less heatpipes than P5K3? isn't that pure marketing (look at Striker vs P5N32-E)?
-
Just like in the MSI offering, useless heatpipes as mentioned a few times now, could have spent the money on improving the power supply section of the CPU/Memory even more than all this useless copper heatpipe gimmick!
-
-
caps cost down.
Typical Asus Style :(
-
[QUOTE=AndreYang;2151457]The performance is still under NDA, so I just share some pics for everyone.
Yellow Memory Dimm is DDR2.
Orange Memory Dimm is DDR3.
DDR3 P5K3 Deluxe pics.
DDR2 P5K Deluxe pics
nice pics..a Nikon D50 on a tripod?

Wow wehre the cool asus light that the p5b deluxes had ?
Yea asus take that
-
What the?
That board doesnt even have a buzzer on it?
The retail will have one I hope Andre, if not what a jip. ;)
-
Let me guess, Nvidia will STILL shove an inferior chipset down SLI users' throats.
-
Well, yeah, sheesh......
Then they will make the newer drivers still "unhackible" for any other chipset...
-
Mmm, loving the legacy-free I/O panel. I'm glad they're finally eschewing redundant PS/2 ports, LPT ports, and so forth. Everything's gone USB/Firewire/eSATA anyway.

I wonder if mounting a heat sink will be a problem? Those sinks completely surround the CPU.

GA Bearlakes already going into retail today in Singapore! Pricing in Sing $ (US$1 = ~S$1.6),
http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread...74#post3644374

that's fooking expensive...i thought i saw them a lot cheaper in the netherlands...gonna look for the link...

Here it is at a bit more as 200 euro??the P35 DQ6?
-
Asus has started hosting their P5K Bearlake DDR2 mobo support files on their server for those interested, don't see the manual though.
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5K
Found it,

Mine is shipping tomorrow! Woot! I will make a review of P5K retail version
-
Do they (P5K Deluxe and P5K3 Deluxe) have solid capacitors (made of polymer, much more durable) like all new Gigabyte motherboards?
-
I'm wating on the P5K deluxe to pop up for sale.
Question... When the P5B deluxe first came out was it gtg or were the revisions a lot better? I'm ponding just waiting for a few revisions to come out.
-
On the deluxe model the Ram slots are a bit closer to the Gfx card "virtual" line than they used to be on P5B D...
It looks to me that we are gonna have some trouble with clearance between gfx with long pcb's and clasps on the ram slots when opened...
Is it??
-
Typical. On P5N-E you couldn't take ram sticks out without taking out the gfx.

When enable "CPU Volt Damper", Vdroop is 0.01v or no droop at all :woot:
@ webwilli : do you have some news about another Bios, my shipped Bios 0123 can not clock my Ram at 1000Mhz 5-5-5-18. On my old Commando, P5N32E SLI Plus/non-Plus, P5B Pre, EVGA ect .... it did 1200Mhz 5-5-5-18 . So i guess Bios 0123 is holding my Ram.
I asked Andre for 0303 Bios but he hadnt replied yet :(
-
with vcore damper enabled less than 0,01 measured from cpuz, everest and asus probe.
E6420 @ 3.200
1,350 in Bios
1,328 Idle
1,320-1,328 dual Prime

i have no new bios yet :(
but donŽt use the 4:5 divider. the 5:6 is better.
-
vcore damper sound like a real selling feature!
Nice to see they listened to all te critics:)
-
My beloved Abit Quad Gt board just kinda died temporarily(sp) cus of a bios flash gone wrong. So the question is, if i would get a board wich would be the better one to pick? The asus p5k deluxe or the gigabyte p35p dq6 board. Wich one is the best considering vrops and such. When i saw the voltage damper setting in the asus board i thought that it must been a v-dropp elimination(spell) thiny.
I know that theese boards are new out there, but if ya have one of them could ya up the v-core quite high and se if it changes under load, if so how much.
edit again.
The layout look normal but no replaceble bios chip, what if a bios flash goes wrong?
-
Why there's bios option for that dampener which ain't on on default? Some downsides to it?
-

Just like some board of Asus ( Commando, P5B ect ), this board has the feature "Crash Free Bios 3". It will automatic search for the Bios file (in usb flash or CD-Rom) when booting and flash it if you had updated wrong Bios or corrupted. I did a test and it worked fine.
http://www.asus.com/999/images/produ...crashfree3.gif
:toast:
-
thanx, nice to know that someone has a (do i dare to say) bullet proof bios. Or is it possible to crash it too?
I mean to not make it not to boot at all after a bad flash.
-
Is it for sale in the US?
-
Damn, P5K Deluxe must be the nastiest board on earth :D
Memory runs like hell with the latest bios (0303) and my board takes 570FSB 1:1 out of the box. Funny enough that frequency is cpu logics limited.
The cpu cannot run over 570FSB no matter which board or cooling is used.
On P5B Deluxe it was capped to 570FSB with LN2 cooling.
-
P5K Deluxe and Bios 0303?

wth !! you said it clocks Mem like hell :( but in my case 0304 Bios is the same with 0123 Bios, my Mem (Adata pc6400 4-4-4-12 Vitesta Extreme Edition) could not clock at 1000Mhz 5-5-5-18 with any Vdimm. hmm ...... This mem clocked 1200Mhz 5-5-5-18 at all my boards but not in this P5K Delx  Strange !!!
