Mem looks nice :)
Congrats.
Perkam
what opty did you order? ive been looking at the 1.8ghz AM2 opty. can get it for 215$ CDN. cheapest way to get a dualcore with 2x1mb L2 cache.
im interested to see what clocks you get from it.
That ram is AWESOME
Nice choice on the memory man :D
i ordered the 1210 picked it up at new egg $169 same as the 165..i like to payless and get more so well see what happens
and i got this too gona mod it to work with my 939 rbx cooler
http://img475.imageshack.us/img475/3381/nry6.png
looks like i got a crappy stepping but will test on air first cause i got to mod this bracket
http://img472.imageshack.us/img472/8443/imga0165oc2.jpg

ok since im in virgin territory what should i shot for with the ram =timmings and volts
thanks
so far so good but i got my mem in sigle channel by mistake
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/2707/age1.png
ok please forgive for my posting but im happy with new toy
gonna run this to see if it is stable on air stock heatsink
http://img474.imageshack.us/img474/7669/bua8.png
THIS IS A GOOD STEPPING!!!
The stepping does not look so crappy LOL.
Come on try for more do you have a max on water yet.
@speed bump i have to mod that bracket and find a spacer that go under the board probably got call dfi and get one from the 590 series
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4260/din8.png
any Super Pi ???
hmmm maybe i will go buy this instead of a opteron 170
Sweet, mem looks good. enjoy :)
i got my water cooler on but at 13c it does not boot so i unplug the water pump and it booted at 319*9 when over 17c is this a cold bug at that temp
if so this cpu stepping is for air only and i had it running at 3.1ghz last nite
funny thing i dont know if it is the board or cpu but it only clocks high when cpu is loaded after i quit prime it freezes but it can run prime for hours:mad:
http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/7574/hqo2.png
Ouch I hope it doesn't cold bug at 13°c
3.1ghz on air sound pretty good though.
Also the freezing after prime might be a bios or a windows issue. I had something like that happening with my back up rig and it turned out it was a known problem and I needed to update the bios.
@speed bump
you know what i think, this mobo has artificial overclock limiters in the bios.
i cant boot at 333*9 all i get is memory beeps at any ratio but if i boot 319*9 i can get into windows easy and then use clockgen all the way to 350*9 no prob
same thing with temps i can boot at 310*9 at 13-17c but not at fsb319
but if i pull the power on the water pump to raise the temps it boots. and the mobo is not cold booting it just boots back to stock which leads me to think somethings preprogramed into the so that when these condition are met it does not boot
im thinking maybe they did this so this cheap board doesnt clash with the landparty series performance or maybe im paranoid and need to rma and see if the next board does it
son of a @#$^& you mean i gotta buy yet another adapter so my apogee will fit the DFI M2R/G
Q@#%)*U%_^ arrggg!!!!!
so much for this weekends project.
hey lestat the landpartys have the backing plate but if your cooler is not for am2 u need a mount
you're one lucky person. awesome rams ...:toast:
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/2232/imga0158cs2.jpg
Doesn't look spectacular.
wish i had a 10x i know im reaching the limit of the chipset it get flaky around 348
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/7421/kjf5.png
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/6290/lgz9.png
:) :) :) :) :) :) :)
update this thing has a crazy coldbug but i found a way around it i hooked up my water but im running high vcore to heat up the water and now its working
the coldbug happens around 17c-318fsb or 328@24c if i had a 10x then i would have been all rite but for know this trick seems to work
also should i rma or sell it to someone running air and try another one??
trade you for my chip :D jk, unless you want it.;)Quote:

seems you got a good mem controller too. my mc sucks, can run 280x10 with 1.45v and the cores be stable, but the mc isnt stable untill i give it 1.5v.
@WeStSiDePLaYa - i did a google on my stepping and found some0ne in dfi-street with the same step and problem so im gonna put this up for sale for 10days or then send it back take the hit and get one with a 10x this is only for those on air or 33c water setups
still testing
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4124/1qm6.png
why not just keep the water at an ambient level then? from what ive heard the AM2 chips have coldbug bad.
@WeStSiDePLaYa - if i get a opty with a 10x multi i could take it up to 310x10 and not hit the water coldbug
but then you run the risk of getting a chip that doesnt clock as well. as this one seems to be above average for AM2.Quote:

i would keep such an insane clocking chip....
if you get the 10x, you might not even hit 3ghz...it's a possibility
I went out and got an Opetron 1216 thinking ok no problem my Asus M2N32-SLi Dlx will run it. I mount the chip watercoolit with the same Swifty set-up and what happens the Asus screen just hangs?
Why? because DFI is the only freaking motherboard maker on the planet who bothered to write BIOS for 1000 series Opterons. Eeven thought it doesn;t state at their site they support these chips they obviouly do. So here's my Quandry.
if you were me, I have a 3800 X2 which does 300FSB at default Vcore! and I have this $330 paperweight which could or could not be the a great chip. Do I get a DFI board?
Or do I return the chip which they said they take back, and put that amount towards a 8800GTX card? Right now I have two leadtek PX7950GX2 TDH's which allow a QUAD SLI run.
the real question is how muvch of an improvement in performance is there betwen the AM2 Opterons and a 3800 X2?
Liquid3D did you clear the cmos before putting in the new chip??
also did you try using the stock heatsink first?
and also since you have 2 7950 i would suggest the land party590 cause even if you mod this infinity it still would 8x 8x setup and dont quote me but i think your setup needs 16x16x to run sli
and did you look for any bios udates or betas. iwould like to see more am2 opty results so if you dont have the money i would sell the asus and use it towards the dfi
im also work on getting a 1212 by next week so with the 10x multi
we also have a vdimm mod for this board, ill be testing when i get my new cpu
and those who have d9 will want this because when you set 2.5 in bios it only gives you 2.46, time to start play with the big boys now :) :)
http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sisu...4;t=000001;p=5
To be honest I didn't clear the CMOS initally, however, I did clear it after the firt failed boot then try the Opteron again with no result.
It's pretty much a given this is not supported since it doesn't mention the chip at Asus site and all BIOS notes I've looked at say nothing about Opterons. I've posted on multiple forums concerning this issue and there are others whom have had the same problem.
In fact I had this chip past seven days and Newegg gave me a extended refund w/out restocking fee option, so I would assume their hearing this repeatedly from those buying the 1000 series and then getting the bad news at home.
msimax what is your DQS reciever enable delay under the AM2 memory fine tuning section of systool set at when you max out? I found playing with this might help you out with overcoming FSB walls. ALthough I am starting to think there is a small defect in the AM2 memory controller that limits how high the HTT can go.
Good job msimax!Quote:

The ATi chipset boards don't seem to be fairing too well on AM2. They are slower by default and do not overclock very well from what I have read. I'm surprised the Asus doesn't like the Opty's. They were one of the very few manufacturers who's s478 boards could take the mobile celerons.Quote:

Does having a 1k lowet HT on these OPtys affect it much?
3Ghz, very nice. Thanks for the pics!!! Keep em coming!
@SPQQKY
i must have looked at every am2 board reviews they all have issues going past 280-300 range maybe user error but it is not a issue with dfi even with their cheap boards, not to boast but i think i best cheap setup you can get, this board for $89 bucks rock them all. and ati chipsets gets to 370htt no sweat its the boards maker who screws up the oc potential.. the only boards with ati chips for am2 are msi asus and ecs avail..now but those boards suck this infinity 3200 should rock but only reviews will tell tell
the DFI is not bad at all.
I'd tie it with the ABIT Nview for 1st in the bang for buk and then the Epox 6100 for budget. I'd then place the LP for 1st.
i WOULD ALSO KEEP THAT OPTY...
That maybe looks a little high, try booting at your max you can boot at go into windows drop it down to like 4.15ns and then clock gen up and see if its stable.Quote:

I see Rebels Haven has posted a similar mod of the 809 BIOS... But the HT Ratio 1.5x and 2.5x settings are labeled... :D
Linky
im gong to order a AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2.2GHz as my funds are low right now but i hope it will reach 3ghz to test out memory until i can get my opty. but for now i have a mod bios and more vdimm to help :) :)

i have a mb and ram in the 4/s section good stuff :)
Ha, I see youre playing with your new toys already. :)
I have an X2 5200 CCBXF, can get to 3200MHz on water @ 1.45V, can't seem to get any higher though, even at 1.6V. It upsets me a little, but I guess an AMD @ 3200 is good enough for me.:DQuote:

2Gigs Kingston value DDR2 667
X2 5200
various random HDDs
XFX 6800GT
Silverstone Temjin05 case with 3 x 80mm intake, 1 x 120mm intake, 2 x 120mm exhaust, and 1 x 80mm exhaust.

Hi guys, I have been following this thread for some time now, but looks like this discussion just died, so I decided to become a member in this forum and recandle this discussion by posting some of my results. You can see my rig specs in my signature. My mobo will not go over HTT316 and I am sure you know that a lot of these LanParties have that issue. That is partly the reason I have an expensive Opteron with high multiplier. It maxed out at 3122MHz with 1,55Volt, I managed to get it to 3150 with ClockGen today, but it is very unstable. Now I want to buy an Opteron 1210 or even two because I have seen about 8 different of these reach over 3,2GHz, but to be able to to that i am going to need a DFI mobo that can go as high as at least HTT360. What Infinity board is most likely to reach highest HTT?
I was wondering where all the 1T's were @..
Nice clocking little chips here for sure..
LOL coldbugged on water is Baddddd!!!
@Lestat ......Bro that Avatar is killing me....LOL:D

if your using air then yeah i would get the 1210 but if your using water i would go with a 1212 or1214 then again i dont know if the stepping changed that allow for high htt @ cold temps, i haven't seen a lot of testing with these optys lately but right now im looking at a 4x4 board with 2 2210 in my futureQuote:

msimaks: are you still waiting for that 1212 with 10x multi?
because if you get a cpu that is coldbugged you will want a higher multi to get to 3.0-3.2ghz not with the 9x multi
Are the DFI boards the only boards able to run the Opteron 1000 series? I had a 1218 Retail in the box I only paid $300 for at the Egg and it was useless because my M2N32-SLI couldn't run the CPU.Quote:

Does anyone have a list of mobo's which are able to run AM2 Opterons? The only board I found which did was the DFI LP and even at their site they don't specify this or any other board can run the 1000 series Opterons?
msimax can yopu tell me why you decided to go with the Infinity rather then the NF590?
I have to say for a NF4 chipset I'm simply amazed at the performance, it seems the memory controller in the Opteron just loves this board, but there's obviously more to it then that. Could it be the Infinity's nF4 chipset is tis good at running DDR2? Once your in the DDR600 club that's really getting there.
Some Intel Conroe based board don't OC memory that well?
I went with the infinity just to start out with but i didnt go with nf590cause that board doesn't clock as high the asus crossfire and the asus dont run optys so im waiting it out. but theres that new epox 580 board out, have not seen any reviews yet and the only prob i see with that mb is no OB firewire . i have a firewire card but there goes one of my slots. basically im going to restrain myself for a couple of months to the good stuff start showing up
Thank you sooo much for replying. Would you hgappen to know why the nF4 based board runs so well? Is it because the memory controller is on the chip itself? I mean 600MHz DDR is really great.
If you could have got the NF590 would you have got this over the Infinity? I would save almost $100 by getting the Inifinity SLI-M2. most important to me is the best overclocking platform and one which might be future AMD AM2 socket CPU ready.
You mentioned the Epox 580 board do you know this board is Opteron friendly?
i just got the board just to check out am2 cpu and test ddr2 ram and the board turned out to be a good clocker but if i wanted all the bells and whistles i would have bought a nf590 but i look at alot review sites and saw that the asus was beating out dfi by maybe 5 to 10% but asus cant run optys so i left it alone..but you can get the dfi nf590 there nothing wrong with it and as for the epox iguess it just came out so i haven't seen any reviews yet. you should also look into those 4x4 boards for the future since they can run optys and quad cores later on and have a 8 core system and be done with it :D
Rebels Haven has mod BIOS's for this board. Look here....
i am back in the gpu race. i dont know why people fall for sli this, thing is so fast i cant run nfs underground it just moves to quick i was gonna wait for ati but there taking to long anyway any records i should shot for with this amd 3500+ cpu with this thing
btw its a evga 8800gts 640

i guess im doing something wrong im still getting 30k in 3dmark 01 and i got that with my aiw x1900
see i can only get 35k and im oc to 630/1055 with a ati aiw x1900 i was able to get 30k i was expecting a large jump and i reinstalled the drivers to the lastest

Friend of mine had a similar problem, reinstalled Windows, and went from like 11k in 3DMark01 to like 22k.
already got the CFX 3200? you posted a pic of it and told something about a week :slobber: , but it's been months now...
want to upgrade to AM2 and i'm looking for the best board with the 580x chipset...

hey thats one nice looking motherboard you have there:rolleyes: , hey if you haven't already you should put a some ramsinks on the digital pwm becasue it gets very hot
yeah she's a beautiful beast :lol2: and i plan water cooling the pwm and every thing else that makes heat :)
3.2 was stable for 2 hours so i go faster

check out wich board you want and it tells you wich one are supported;)
i dont see their high performance boards supporting them though

and btw aint crossfire a top end board option? ..... dual pci-e 16X etc...
msimax I only say  and then :eek2: !

funny how the dfi sets their mem timings so tight it can boot @ 400div over 300htt sometimes its just to tight i was ready to curse these mem sticks until i opened systool :)
things are looking up :D i dont really have the time to post 800 benches if theirs something you would like to see just post it, memory wise i will go higher
