Those were my first words when I saw the parcel from the USA, sent by a David Hunt, when I walked into my study this afternoon. Now that I've opened it and read Movieman's note, I am speechless.

As usual, you didn't do what we thought you would.
We sort of guessed a "Holy Sh*t" but your close enough!;)
I guess the best way to say it is that we think your a special guy and wanted to say that in our own way.
I wasn't sure if you had a conroe system or not. I've been doing some digging through XS and I think it's time you took some time and showed the guys here some of your other talents.
I happened on a post by Mr.Icee about you which opened my eyes to your talents.
I wouldn't be surprised if you can see 4100mhz with that combo.:D
Now we can let you in on a few other things we've been working on named clovertown and woodcrest!
And my damned heart can restart as all I've been worrying about is sending electronics literally 1/2 way around the world!

The motherboard has the debug mod, the memory mod is very easy and can be done with a pencil but most likely not needed. The motherboard will deliver up to 2.4v to the memory.
That motherboard will do up to 480FSB benchable but 366~400 is realistic for 24/7 use.
Well lets see some of those soldering skills of yours Victor:) IMHO I think the badaxe was one of my better mobos... My 6600 did its highest clocks on my old badaxe. It was my Kentsfield that killed it:)

I have a rev 304 mobo, so I assume I don't have to add the 5 smd resistors to run Conroe. Charles did the debug mod with what looks like conductive ink, and I plan to redo it properly with either a switch, or jumper headers. A removable Vddr mod will be added while I am at it. Let me know if there are other mods I should do before firing up.Quote:

I'd put decent sinks on the VDIMM and VTT regulators. I seem to remember a post somewhere about them getting hot and burning out when too much voltage/amps are pushed through them.
Victor just grab the latest bios from here....
Now as for any other mods I would say just the vdimm would be fine... That mem you have will run some great speeds at 2.1-2.2v at 3-3-3-8... I know mine do:)
This ss is pretty much all you need to see.. Although with the newer bios's you now can go up to 50% for the Host Burn-in Mode Percentage..

Victor, I retract my preivious statement LOL You might also want to do the MCH mod so you have give your north bridge some volts. With this conroe setups in order to hit certain high fsb's you will need to pump some volts into your northbridge... The mod is in one of the pics in my last post.
Also, with the badaxe you can choose different fsb straps. I would stick with the 1066 strap with a higher fsb... The reason, is the chipsets internal timings will stay tighter while using the 1066 strap than they will when using the 1333.. They automatically loosen to adjust for a higher fsb while using the 1333 strap. So most people are booting with the 1066 strap and using clockgen to get the clocks up. You will notice faster superpi times among other stuff. I hope this helps:) If you want to read up on the difference between the 1066 strap and the 1333 here is a great thread from Tony.... His thread is based on the i965 chiipset but it pertains to the i975 as well...
With the exception that you might have to tester wether running ram at 1:1 or any other divider is faster for you.
1:1 is faster on my setup, but that warries quite a lot.
With you guys to call on and his experience, this sucker has to be a winner!

The main intention was to get you a nice new toy to play around with a bit and after that use it as cruncher.
The HSF was a donation and we didnt plan to buy it in the first place.
Of course a BT or Infinity has a sligthly better performance, but that doesnt matter that much for a cruncher.

1304 and latter allow up to 1333+50% FSB, all others previous to 1304 only allow +30%. With 1304 and an unmodded board (cept the debug mod, which doesnt really count :D) I could get to about 430MHz. I dont think theres been a big difference in overclockability between the BIOSes so I'd go for 1304.
The rig is in Windows comfortably over 4G, but not benchable yet. Have to do some more tweaking to get it 24/7 stable.

I was running with phase at 4.2Ghz 24/7 stable and benched at 4.6Ghz on that board.

LOL, you wouldnt run phase 24/7 for a little extra this just doesnt sound right coming from you:) I actually ran a Yonah for about 3 weeks straight crunching Rosetta on my single stage so it wouldnt hurt it.. The only thing it will hurt is your pocket:)

This Intel bios is strange. 1333 + 18 gives me 3930, +19 is 4017, and +20 goes to 4054!:confused:

The IHS was lapped, but core temps under load did not drop at all.
The rig is now running at 1066 +46 crunching Rosetta 24/7. Boinc bench same as 1333 + 17 but memory bandwidth is much improved at the new setting. And the + setting gives correct MHz all the way to 4G.:)
