I am still waiting mod this board with version HIPRO 5 !!
Everyone PM hipro :D :toast:
hehehe i did that a while ago.Quote:

NO SHI(f)T...........NOT AGAIN for God's shake!.......DON'T UPLOAD something that you HAVEN'T EVEN tested......You have burned some people's AOpen mobos like this in the past PLUS mine that I've spent $450 and now it is sitting here burned......SO PLEASE NOT AGAIN......:( :slapass: :slapass:Quote:

OK...........Here you go......
Locate this IC......
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/A..._mod_1_jpg.jpg
......AND this spot.....one side of the capacitor......
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/A..._mod_2_jpg.jpg
Solder on this side of the capacitor to GROUND an 100KOhms 25 turns trimmer and trimm it to it's MAX resistance (100KOhms)....:)

woot woot!
any more mods that you've published hipro?
Thanks hipro, I will try this shortly :toast:
lol, sorry , masterQuote:

Thanks Master !! How about Vmch and Vdim mod ?? :toast: :toast: :toast:
Give him time, he needs to get some WR's first!! :p:
vdimm and vmch / chipset mods for AW9:
vdimm:
http://www.nordiccrew.com/crotale/vmod/aw9_vdimm.jpg
vmch: (to the right of the upper PCI-E 16x port)
http://www.nordiccrew.com/crotale/vmod/aw9_vmch.jpg
Both mods will give approx. +0.1V when soldered in.
I have tried them both myself
Nice pics, thanks for the mods crotale :)
I love XS !! thanks Crotale :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:
I can verify that the vcore mod is working.
Here is also a read out for the vmch, along with a vmch booster mod. (either ends of the thick wire)
The booster mod is engineered by Hipro, all credit goes to him!
http://www.nordiccrew.com/crotale/vm...ch_booster.jpg
Wohoo! Thanks for the great MODs! How much does the MCH Booster mod increase the voltage? Is the booster Mod just the thick wire and no other modification?
Seems very simple to do for me!
Offtopic: Does the mainboard undervolt the mch? Now I'm at 425 MHz FSB with 1,9V MCH. 430 MHz --> blackscreen --> increased voltage to 2V --> still blackscreen. Does the MCH mod helps here or should I wait for another BIOS?
I assume the smaller wire is going to something you have setup so you can read the vmch voltage w/o having to flip over the board. Am I correct?Quote:

True, I can verify that oneQuote:

Ok, thank you for the tips. I have just the stock cooling on the mobo with one 120mm fan. But If you mean that my cooling isn't good enough I can put a watercooler on it today. Do I need watercooler on the SB and mosfets too or is a watercooler just on the NB enough?Quote:

Hope I can reach 445 MHz FSB on the mainboard without mods.
What does the Vfsb mod do? Which voltage would increased?

can anybody locate the vcore measuring point ?
Measure it at any of the four coils around the CPU socket.
Did you guys remove the thermal pad of the coolers to apply AS5 on the north/southbridge? Or just aplpy on both those two "chips" and put the coolers with thermal pad that they came with ?
Making the mod's right now. :)
Remove the thermal pad.
Definetely remove the pad, it kills the thermal transfer.
Can we se the bost Vmch mod?
Isn't this mobo TOO "strong" ?......
Take a look at the PCB.....:D
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/A...ng_pcb_jpg.jpg
hipro do you think its making contact? Maybe you need more mounting pressure!
Yes I have thought of that too.....Maybe I'll "press" it a bit more......:DQuote:

Way to go Hipro! :D
Can anyone verify if mods are the same for AW9D non-MAX???
How do you come up with this stuff Hipro? Are you an electrical engineer?
Electronics engineering....:)Quote:

Ditto, if anyone would be kind enough to show pictures of their completed mods it would be appreciated.Quote:

also, where the heck is the vcore measuring spot? someone says any of the coils around the cpu but which coils were they referring to? :)
The coils are the four black cubes with a thick copper cable in them. They are placed around the socket.
I measure it at the back of the board, at the CPU side of one of the coils.
http://www.nordiccrew.com/crotale/vmod/vcore_coil.jpg
It's also possible to measure at one side of the small capacitors inside of the coils here. (Just try... one side is ground, the other is vcore)
i've tried all 4 coils and i can't get the vcore to be measured.Quote:

One simply question : what max vcore mobo can do ? More than 1.95V or not ?
Regards
Martin
To answer your question, no.
At over 2.03Vcore, it shuts down from OVP......:)Quote:

You need to measure from the leg of the coil, the copper part is insulated and wont give you a reading. so measure the parts with solder on them.Quote:

im just about to order a waterblock for the northbridge to gain more then 435 fsb like i did on with cooling. i wouldnt extra cool the mosfets if its not beneficial. what do you guys think, is it worth to order a waterblock for mosfets as well for high fsb ?
Need your help guys:
Any alternative vmod points for vdim and vmch where grabbers can be used?
Any alternative soldering points for vcore mod?
Thanks a lot

I'm new to the modding scene. I'm just wondering what kind of wire that is, I've decided to finally put my soldering iron to good work but I'm still in awe of all the info out there.Quote:

If anyone was wondering, not only can you use the read point for voltage, but GURU also has Vfsb labeled as "CPU VTT 1.2 Voltage"
And a few pics :)

Anyone know the safe range for voltage? GURU starts buzzing at 1.45v which is like 1.39-1.4 actual. Thanks for the guides great work!

thanks and sorry for English :p:
i have done this mod but when i lower resistence from 50kohm the readout voltage indicated drops from 1.22 instead of rising
i looked at the datasheet and see the pin below may have the opposite effect.
would using a 50kohm resistor on this other pin perhaps raise vfsb for me?
datesheet here: http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/data.../5/LM358.shtml
i'm aiming for more fsb for a coming cpu/gpu dry-ice bench.
i have good copper cooling for the NB and i would appreciate any help with more fsb :D...
thanks
I know the board is kinda old already, but if someone is still interested, I could post the GTLREF and some other mods. ;)
OK then. As soon as I get back home, I'll post the needed information, if I don't forget it. If I haven't posted it one week from now, please send me a PM, because then I sure forgot about it. :D
Edit:
I'm back at home now. Will collect the pics and post them when I'm ready. ;)

Here's the pic describing the VDroop-, QRSEL- and GTLREF[3:0]-mods:

Update: I also did the Southbridge Voltmod yesterday. If anyone's still interested, I could post the instructions for this one, too. It's on the same LM358 as the VFSB-Mod. ;)
Edit:
My account where the pic was hosted was changed. I will update as soon as I have the time to and have finished all the mods. Will be ~ mid February 08.
OK, on request here's the updated link to the pics for VCCPLL-, VDROOP-, QRSEL-, and GTLREF-Mods:

The pics should be pretty much self-explanatory.
