ClockGen Ver 1.0.4.8 BETA (support P5B Deluxe added)

Folks, found an interesting particular post here by CPUZ ASUS P5B Deluxe make E6400 @4G & X6800 500*8@4G air cooled

Grab it here -> ClockGen Version 1.0.4.8 BETA

At the PLL setup for P5B Deluxe, choose CY28551.

Triple checked at all Asus FTP mirrors still no 0605 bios. Neobremen, any release notes for this new bios ?

Binary comparison between 0605 vs 0507 result, looks like it is newer.

I have also no info about! The only think i now is that you can have a more stabelized FSB with less voltage(tested) (Please use on own risk-i don t like to make people angry)

The non deluxe P5B uses an ICS 9PLRS522 (a PITA to program).
Eventually using the 9PLRS509 w/o GSP/PCI "should" work with clockgen, but so far tests are far from being good.

(P5B Dlx uses a Cypress CY28551, don't be wrong when selecting)

Noob question, does Cypress CY28551 is really OC friendly clockgen ? If not, which do you think is the most easiest and of course powerfull clockgen you've worked with ?

Well it's hard to answer to that, I can only speak about the programming of PLLs, not say about their quality as a ICs. Most of the time ICS are very easy to program, but this 9PLRSxxx serie is an exception. The documentation is really fuzzy, lot of stuffs are not mentionned and were discovered "in practice". They are also mistakes.

CY28551 is a good PLL, well documented, and also has lot of features, as you mentionned in the linked topic. Also, it is a multi-chipset PLL (Intel, VIA, SiS), that allows to use the same BIOS code for mainboard manufacturers.
I don't know about the price of this PLL, but it is a good strike for Cypress, definitely.

DONT FLUSH THESE BIOS IT might corrupt you NTFS.sys

I just flashed and this stupid bios corupted two of my windows installs. After first coruption i thought it's cause i overclock, but then i switched to my other windows install hardrive and on default clocks and settings got into windows. After reboot my other XP install is gone. ntfs.sys is corupted. This suks big time:lastweek:

At PLL Setup, just choose "CY8551." It works perfect and nice! :toast:

Damn that bios Flash realy ruined my sys. I tried to reinstal windows but get same error message. I checked all components but they are fine. I need to flash back to 07 bios. My problem is that i only have Cdrom. I can boot to DOS fine but just cant make a cdrom so in dos mode it sees the bios file and afudos. Anyone can make me iso with simple boot disk and these 2 files.? Please help i'm frkn screwd with this flash.........

Well, use Google search for how to make bootable USB stick, even 128/256MB is more than enough and put AFUDOS and "ALL" BIOS version plus latest memtest in there.

I just plugged it there and forget it, usefull during this "beta" testing phase while juggling around bioses and ram testing. :D

The USB stick doesn't need to be bootable, the flash utility built into the P5B Deluxe BIOS can read directly from a USB stick, it just needs to be inserted into a USB port before you boot the system.

BTW: I flashed 0605 on my P5B Deluxe / WiFi and have suffered no problems. However, it did rectify many of the issues I had with the previous version I was using (eg: it no longer ignores my manual RAM timings).

That method will not clean/overwrite the boot block area of the BIOS (the flashing module it self), just watch during the flashing prcocess using that method, it skips some region.

Actually that is no biggy, but I just want a perfect rewrite on the whole BIOS block.

Well i fixed the bios issue. Just created a fat32 partition on my HD, placed afudos and bios file there, boot it in dos mode, switched to the drive and was able to reflash:D whew.
As for clockgen it works great, thanks CPUZ:toast: . I'm tempted to try these new bios but can someone go first this time:p:

Running XP 64bit here, clock changes work fine, but whenever I reboot, it won't post :(

Have to reset to defaults.

Haven't tried on 32bit XP yet, but anyone else using this with XP 64?
