Well get that watercooling kit, and lets see you get that board flying:D. I still need to post my photos of heatsink, but i have redesigned it totally, trying to get even lower temps, based on the temps im getting now with my heatsink mod, you dont even need watercooling, im idle in 30s full load overclocked in 40s to about 50c, i think my new design should improve temps, will be hooking it up this weekend for test run and see if it improves.
I still check in every week. Nothing to add tho, I'm topped out at 1702 linked and synced. I have tried everyway from Sunday to go higher, 100% certian my RAM can't do it.
What speed is your ram rated for ? my ram is rated for 2000 mgz, im running 2040 linked n synced. Try some faster ram, i have linked n synced up to 2090 with my ram.
it's in my sig OCZ 7-6-6-24 1600....but it's 4GB. Quad core + 4GB is tough to get over 1800 with any reasonable timings. Thing is I want to go to 8GB, probably won't even be able to hit 1700 with any of the RAM available today. You can read through this whole thread and there's maybe 2 guys who tired to OC 8GB's, none with any remarkable sucess.Quote:

It works f'ing great!. It's running excellent @ 1780 24/7; rock solid stability with absolutely no issues at all. In fact, I had to work 24 hours straight to meet a deadline and ran this machine without rebooting the entire time. I highly recommend the Vipers when running 8 gigs.
Previously, I had 4x1 gigs of OCZ Gold sticks. They were pretty solid, but 1500 fsb was the max I could run those at 24/7. You have higher quality OCZ memory than mine, so you may have better results than I did. If you do install more memory, just make sure that the retailer has a good return policy, because you never know. What works for some may not work for others, especially with such a finicky board like the Striker II.
I really like this motherboard, though.

Dude thanks for posting..first time I have heard 8GB's successfuly overclocked, I think I will ditch my OCZ and get 8GB of something faster rather than add another 4GB of OCZ.Quote:

As far as seeing much of a difference going to 8 gigs, it's night and day if you use ram hungry apps like photoshop, premiere, and the like. I see no difference in games, since most of em aren't coded to use that much ram.
Slim, even though I don't have an Auzentech, I think I know exactly the maps in COD4 that give you the crackling noise (your on the helicopter firing the cannon, I believe). I get it too, but only when I aim to the edge of the screen. Weird crap.
COD:WaW uses the same engine and it doesn't crackle and pop at any time.

I used to back when I first got this board set up, there was something up with it working properly on a 64 bit OS SLI setup from the start. I have the same card on another system that was 32 bit and didn't have a single issue with popping or clipping at all so I knew then the drivers were clashing somehow, especially the video drivers, only way I got rid of it was to roll back the vid drivers then it got better. Using SLI myself I was testing to see if that had anything to do with it, there was no pops when in single gpu mode, SLI mode did have distortion so for sure there was some issues there. Since then though with all the updated drivers for the sound card and gpus that have been released, the crackle pops have all but ceased. Personally I like the card very much, have them in 2 of my systems and the difference in sound quality is very clear. I have to agree (real quick) with Royalty because this card is one of the best cards out there, only one I would compare to it are the new Forte and the Xonar (The premium one with the fancy heatsink). So far, I love it, really nice sound when paired with my Z-5500.Quote:

Sounds like a great card, but im not liking the crackle you say with dolby digital enabled in movies, cause i watch alot of movies, i dont game that much, but some. I dont want any crackle in movies that just wont fly, is this with vista ? xp ?
It only happens with SLI enabled, when SLI is disabled, you wont hear any cracking sound at all.Quote:

When it comes to movies, I get no crackles there. I watch plenty on this system as well and never had any issues with audio, regardless if SLI was enabled or not. The SLI thing came into play mainly with games but like I said before that was quite a few months back, it's much smoother now.
Best bet is to just do some research on it and read some reviews and see if it fits for what you need.

Sounds like a pretty good card, i read the reveiw on it. I also read the review on asus card, and it gets pretty solid reviews, will have to read a few more reviews and then make a choice, thanks for the input guys.

Anyone here tried the new tri-channel RAM sticks in their SIIE, seems like good value 2x 6GB is almost the same price as 8GB of dual channel. I could use the extra 4GB's for a buddies new build so it's wouldn't go to waste.
Would the lower volatge requirements(1.65v) of the tri-channel ram allow us a higher overclock with it?
I havent tried 3x2 tri kits, but i saw a thread here somewhere where somebody was asking if they will work on non i7 boards, and the answer is yes, im looking into trying the samething, dont know if the low voltage will help in overclocking or not, but it definitly gives more memory options.
