Look like this is the most common case... the need of 1.4v to get stable at 4GHz...

That is what I need for 4ghz stable if talking cpuz volts, 1.31vcore cpuz, then 1.344 cpuz for 4.1, 1.376 cpuz for 4.2....mine has been a decent Ocer.
Regarding socket pins, I tilt my computer at ~45 angle (using small sturdy box, lay top against it), to prevent air from getting in via t-line but still makes it easy to change cpu. I bent socket pins on my P35 DQ6 doing same as you, trying change cpu out in upright position...but was able to bend them back with microscope and microforceps.
I've bent pins before as well and a mechanical pencil works perfect. :)
Is there a problem with running more voltage on Vtt than Vcore? I'm asking because I'm running only 1.184 volts Vcore cause that's all I need to achieve 4011Mhz CPU clock. I have Vtt set to 1.215 which is getting close to the .5 differential WRT my 1.66V setting on my Vram.
From the i7 review by Rajinder Gill on anand - http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=3502
- he said that 166 would be the sweet spot for 965 because of the ability to also get good oc on the memory.
So I started working on the 27 multi with the idea that I could pick up some DDR3 2000.
So I have been able to get 27x159 prime stable with HT on - pretty happy about that actually (see below).
So if I pick up some new 3x1GB DDR 2000, I should be able to run it at 159x12=1908?
I'm going to pick up a new set of DDR3 1600-2000 3x1gb in a couple weeks - who makes the best set at this point?
I have not had a single reboot or other problem on F5e. So I like it and am using it. However, stability wise or benching, F4m, F4j, and F5e all the same on mine, requires same settings for same OC, and spi etc, no difference, max OC 4.922 same, and max bclk 217 same.
I was on XP sp3 with corsair dominators 3x1 gb at 1600 stock 8,8,8,24 (8x200bclk). Now that I can use 6gb (changed to windows 7 64 bit permanently) I ordered 3x2gb OCZ platinum 1600 7,7,7 21 from newegg, due here on wednesday. Will be interesting to see how much more qpi/vtt I need for 6gb vs 3 of ram, currently only 1.31v for 21x200.
yeah, dont know that I will notice the difference, but I am one of those that has to try everything:p: I am assuming I wont have to go all that high, but that is one of the things I want to know, and best way to do that is try both. But I will run at 4.1 minumum regardless, preferable 4.2
This is the lowest my 940 can do on 211 x 19.
No, actually my chip does the exact same thing. I just did a 20 pass run maybe 2h ago. Same clock, same voltage. I used memory at 1691, 7-8-7-20-1T timings, uncore at around 3800MHz give or take a few MHz.
LLC was on auto in my run. CPUZ reported voltage showed 1.288V (not completly correct, but then again, only a DMM is really correct).
If however I set 20x200MHz, I have to use roughly 1.3V.
It's funny that OC with higher BCLK actually works better than higher multipler. Completly opposite of what we should be seeing.
No wonder all the chips basically clock the same across the versions (920, 940, and 965 XE).
