I have DS3L mainboard, and I can't find last version of BIOS(F11)...
Latest Bios for the GA-P35-DS3L is F8b
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...ProductID=2629
Still with F7 myself...
I emailed gigabyte suport late last month, wanted to know how I can stop this DS3P I have dropping to 1x Link width randomly. Man they are slow to borderline usless to responding.
took them 1 month to reply me when i accused them of false advertising. took them another month to send me out a new motherboard
Has anyone been able to run 8gb in any of these boards? Or even 4 sticks?
I've just bought 4 x 2gb of OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-8000 (£123 delivered. Cracking value for the UK) and my P35-DS3P rev 1.0 won't boot with all 4 sticks installed. It's fine with any 3 sticks installed at 1000mhz, but it won't boot when I insert a fourth, even at 800mhz.
Y tried 4 x 1 Gb and it works great
I think one of my DIMM slots is flakey. The board won't boot with 3 sticks with that slot filled.
I have 8GB running in my DS4 Rev2.0 but it only seems to like a 1:1 ratio. But that's OK with me, 800 @ 4-4-4-12 is fast enough
Did you try just one DIMM in the slot your wondering about? That would be the easiest way to determine if it was the slot.
so they gave you a ds3r for the ds3 you sent in?
nice :P
Hey guys... I've been out of the game for a long time... I just bought a wolfdale e8400 and a DS3L board with 4gb of ddr2800...
I'm trying to get this thing set up but I can't for the life of me figure out how to control ram timings with this board. Am I a total newb or is there a trick to it?
Edit: I found the answer to this question... ctrl+f1... i hate it when they hide the advanced options.
Also no matter what settings I make in the bios with regards to vcore all of the in OS reading progs are showing it still running @ stock vcore. What's the deal with that?
oh yeah... running F8b bios.
haha.. thats awesome. maybe i should complain. i want an r board, not for the raid, but for the 2 extra voltage regulators.
let us know how that f8b bios is working for ya. im still on the f7 b/c i dont have a 45nm processor and that seems to be the only update. f7 has been super stable so far, only thing was it didnt boot up on 400x9fsb at 1.25v. had to bump up wattage, but thats not really a bios problem. my VID is high at 1.3 :(
well right now it's running at
400x9 vcore at 1.20
memory still at spd settings and running at 42 under full load. I think i need to re-seat this heatsink tbh.
I'm going to make sure it's stable where it's at for a day or so making some small orthos runs and gaming. And then I'll go from there. I don't want to cross 1.3-1.35 vcore. I just don't feel like killing this chip quite yet. So my overall goal is 4ghz at 1.3
I will tell you this. with f7 the system would not boot at 400x9 at stock vcore. as soon as i updated to f8b the system booted at stock vcore (1.18) at 3.6... Granted it didn't run long before a reboot... but it did at least boot which is more then i could say for f7
edit: holy horrible vdroop batman... 1.22 at idle... 1.18 under load. LoL it's going to be an uphill battle with this board.
reallly!!!.. f8b huh. im pretty content with 3.0 right now but if i decide to pump up the fsb, ill switch to f8. The f7 prob you had makes sense b/c i think you have a 45nm processor. hopefully they will have the final f8 version for you soon. i plan on keeping this machine for a while so i dont wanna break the 1.30 vcore unless some game im trying to run really really needs something over 3.0ghz.i would probably jsut set a bios profile for that particular app and only run it at that speed when playing that game.
Hey guys, I don't know if its me, but I want to go ahead with at least
the mch volt mod, however, the volt mod guides I've seen (vrzone) do not match up
with my rev 2.1 board when I look at it, I'm on the gigabyte DS3R.
Anyone knows where there is one I can follow?
I emailed about problems with a PCIe card and was basically told, after a 1 week wait, that they can't guarantee their board will work with cards. They went so far as to ask if the card was tested with the chipset. How the hell would I know? It's a ATI Theater 550 PCIe on a AMD motherboard with an ATI chipset. One would sure hope so! I had spent many hours troubleshooting and put all of that into the email. They apparently didn't read most of it because they asked me if I'd tried things that I had told them I tried. Or they can't read english worth a damn. I dunno.
Turned out that the card was partially defective, but that was only upon more hours of testing on my part with other PCs. GA support was completely useless and took at least a day to respond.
So don't buy these GA boards for their maker's support services. Kinda getting tired of mobo companies, honestly. Hell, tired of tech companies in general!
I managed to fix it by mixing the two kits (ie- Kit A in slots 1 and 2, and kit B in slots 3 and 4, instead of putting each stick in the same channel as its partner).
Tho I've just switched to an Abit IP35 Pro and it won't run them together now, no matter which combination of slots I use :shakes:
Any tweaks or mods for the Giga P35-S3? I've done a droop mod already, that works great
I wouldn't base buying a Gigabyte board for responsive or accurate technical support. For the 3 questions I've logged on the technical service web site, they average about 10+ days for a reply and then with 'strange / vague' answers. If it wasn't for great help in the forums, I'd be really stuck.
I bought Gigabyte for the price, quality of hardware and the level of technology they supply.
Anybody fitted a water block to the NB on a DS3L or similar? Its getting a little toasty and summer will be upon us soon here in the uk..
Got a Q6600 folding 24/7 in mine, so id like to give the NB a bit easier time of it...
