Forward: official GIGA 965P-S3/DS3/DS4/DQ6 beta BIOS

Hmm, i dont know what exactly D9 problem is for me and my board, but I can do 480 x 6 @ 4-4-4-9 SuperPi 32M stable with Teamgroup D9GMH 2Gb kit @ 2.2v with 965P-S3 board and F6 BIOS...

But looks like it cant go higher, because my chipset needs more volts, +0.2v its not stable, but with 0.3v its is ok. Maybe I should do voltmod on this board to get it higher stable? Any suggestions what to do? Max screnshot that I can get if 505FSB, but thats not what Im looking for :rolleyes:

For 24/7 at the moment I use 472 x 7 = 3304Mhz... dont know the real limit of CPU, its E6300 L627 and BOX cooler :slap: :banana: Soon will test this CPU on water when I will recieve waterblock.

You're using an Allendale, it's well known these chips get much higher FSB then the Conroe.

MadMikeSS: You know what, think of this one question(to start) ... at what % of overclock will you be satisfied and not go nuts because some tweak isn't in? Then think about WHY you feel that way. next on this little train ride ask yourself why the hell should the company conform to your expectation that it never advertised any set amounts in the first place? Then Finally why should the company conform to your expectations and not someone else's?

When you get that answer you should see why there is no rush to push out a fix right away, and why it's a matter of they will do it when they do it.. because there is no expectation they HAVE to meet that satisfies EVERYONE because even if they magically found a way to hit 1000on the system bus right now there would still be someone saying "but my stuff should be able to do more".

EVERYONE: All my first post said was enjoy what you have while they fix the issue, yes letting them know there is a issue you (meaning anyone from an individual to a large group) would like them to fix is good, yelling and screaming does nothing to speed up the release.

Yes, but Im talking about FSB that the board is limiting not CPU, maybe if someone cant get these boards so high they can try leave all volts on stock and add +0.3v for FSB OverVoltage Control (The Northbridge) and +0.4v for DIM OverVoltage Control (DDRII) :)

why don't you just buy a fan controller.

i just got two of them just for the hell of it, just to have it.
its a 3.5" bay controller so if you have 2 floppy bays it fits right in 1 of them and controls 4 fans.
i believe i paid 20 bucks shipped for both of them on eBay.. thats 20 total not 20 each.

again aside from just wanting to help out,, and since your on an overclocked system, i GUARANTEE you your fans wont slow down they will run full speed all the time anyways.. so wtf,, why are you even bothering with QST and HECI ?
it's a worthless cause that isnt going to do anything but cause stability issues.

you run an overclocked system with a cpu that runs hotter than normal the fan will be running full speed all the time no matter what you do ... so... help me understand.. why are you so flipping worried about making it work ?

not always lestat. I use speed fan to control all my fans currently, sure when I am doing something intense the fans spin up but, thankfully, that is only when I am 1) playing a loud game anyway or 2) away from my pc. If it wasn't for speedfan or the digital auto-controllers I designed I would have gone def years ago.

Well there is one simple answer to your questions. Competition - thats why people should expect it. Gigabyte isnt the only fish in the sea and since Asus can deliver 500 FSB - I guess GB just doesnt care enough to keep it's customers happy. It's called business and delivering a board that doesn't do what the others can means loss of it.

Easier said than done with a week 24 6600 pal!

But just give me time - still need to pull my p4 ee out of my watercooling setup and get the conroe under some h2o - that should do the trick....

that statment only holds true on 1 of gigabytes boards. the DQ6
the DS4/DS3/S3 are all budget boards and none of us should expect very much from the boards.
now granted a year ago even two years ago a $140 would get you an Ultra-D SLI now.. 140 gets you a budget board.


the DQ6 was designed to compete against the P5B and P5W but it cant. it cant even come close not by a long shot...
if i was a DQ6 owner i would be mad,, as a DS3 owner im very happy, as i always said i am,, and i have gotten my 140 dollars worth out of this board and then some.

And thus proves my point, if a product doesn't do what you want it to do BUY SOMETHING ELSE, yelling and screaming about it only shows that you didn't do research about your purchase first. Yup thats a harsh reality but you don't see me :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:ing to OCZ for their ram which costs more then the Gskill ram that spanks it most of the time because it's my bad for not doing research on it first.

I hear ya there. Despite what people may think, I'm not mad about the wall I'm hitting because I know that my other hardware is capable of more.

For those giving a hard time because we buy budget boards and expect the overclocking? This is XS if I really need to remind people. That's what we are all about here. I did my research and choose the S3 because 1) it's essentially the same board as the DS3 with different capacitors. 2) I knew about the D9 issues beforehand but also saw some great results in OCing. I couldn't afford the higher priced boards that are better overclockers. I took a chance and that's my problem. But I also see that the DS3 is probably the most popular board, it takes up at least 1/2 of the entries on the [H] conroe overclocking list. I'm sure that Gigabyte will fix the issues. I think I am just getting impatient with announcements from people saying there will be a fix to the issue that I and many others have run into. That's just human nature. Doesn't mean I hate the board. I actually like the board. It's taking some getting used to moving from a board like the Ultra-D to this one. 1) I don't have slots to save my bios configs, 2) Don't have people constantly working on different bioses for different memory configurations.

Point is, I chose a budget board, but one that has a lot of potential for the OCer.

All this announcement means is that Gigabyte and Asus are creating another company to build motherboards and videocards together. They will still exist separately for their own purposes. It's not a merger announcement.

Well, thanx for clearing that up MadMike. I thought it was a merger.

As for the ASUS BIOS working and the DS3 not, Well Honestly, I dont know, the only thing that I can think of (and this is just my thought) As most people know the DS3 isn't a full ATX. so maybe they cut corners a little too much and now they're trying to find a BIOS solution to fix it. As I said Its just a thought. Not to start a fight or anything. Hell This is the second Gigabyte board in the last 3 months I've bought.

Just curious who said anything about no overclocking? Did I miss a post somewhere?

Hello to everybody. I'm have gigabyte DS4 with F7b bios. The good thing is that it solved the X-Fi problem. The bad thing is that if i overclock, i cannot plug in my usb keyboard / mouse as the computer resets itself. I have spotted the problem to be when the bios initializes the memory. If i plug them right after this, (just after the "Memory runs at dual channel" message appears), NO problem. If i don't overclock this problem doesn't exist, if i overclock even 1 Mhz it appears. Does anyone know if this is bound to be fixed in a future bios release? I hate to have to unplug the usb keyb / mouse every time i restart the computer.

iceblade try turning off USB mouse and KB support and turn off LEgacy USB see what it does.

most usb mice and keybaords come with PS2 adapters. simply use those and plug them into the PS2 ports.

see what happens for you.

Well i have just hit 500fsb on my budget S3 board which for cheap dollars isnt bad at all

I've tried messing with the BIOS options for usb mouse and keyboard. Nothing seems to work

I cannot use a PS/2 adapter because I'm using a microsoft bluetooth desktop (which comes with a bluetooth usb dongle where the k/b and mouse connect). Can't I have both overclocking and my usb devices? (since this is advertised as an o/c board?) I think it is a reasonable request, it's not like im asking for 500+ FSB or anything. I would really like to see a fix in the BIOS update from Gigabyte for that.
I really have messed up with everything in this board and this seems like BIOS bug that has been going on since the initial BIOS release of this board

All my loot comes tomorrow for new system! oh yah!
