I would call that a risky purchase.

I would call that a risky purchase.
Hope the bios will be released soon. Else im going to return my board. And get an ASUS kickass board instead.
Not trying to influence anyone...just posting what I've found.
The only beta F8 bios I can find hosted anywhere has a change list posted with it and says it deals only with Fan control issues. So unless some of you folks have actually ever recieved beta bios from a gigabyte rep to test for memory issues, I wouldn't hold your breath. I personally think about 80 percent of the info you are being fed is as rotten as last weeks garbage.
Lol ... but the F8a DID fix the x-fi ... despite not posting the damn fix with the change list.
Does this ram work ok with this board? Im not looking at a huge overclock, just to around 3ghz.
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

its only $200 vs the $250-300 high end stuff with tighter timings.

your ignorant and childish bashing of bingo is crap and i would suggest you stop where your at.
just because you don't see a bios out for download in the wild doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Xtreme systems has long been a haven for industry testers and people in the know and just cuz your not in the know, and you dont know Bingo doesnt make him full of crap. it makes you full of crap cuz your pouting like a little baby for not getting the beta bios.
some of us already know WHO he is, and know his legitimacy. your ranting and calling his offerings of knowledge "stinky like last weeks garbage" is b.s. and i would suggest you stop and grow up.
again these are beta bios's bingo is a tester, he is not at liberty to discuss certain aspects of the bios and testing nor share the bios unless auth. by gigabyte.
just cuz you can't handle that doesnt make him a liar.
deal with it until the final version is released.
I only see one person ranting. And I see another promising things daily that don't happen.Quote:

Well i took the plunge today and ordered all my parts, I settled on the CorsairTWIN2X2048-6400C4..expensive but peace of mind with a computer purchase is nice since ram is the hardest part to pick out imo. :D
Other parts are the DS3, E6300, video card just a 7600GT to hold me over till G80 comes out. :) See what i can do with over clocking this weekend with stock HSF.
Vista drivers for Realtek 888/883:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
marko, when using the stock hsf i would triple check the surface mounting are of the hsf and the cpu.
make sure they are flat.
the stock HSF needs all the help it can get.
i sure wish intel would give us better heatsinks. like the opteron heatpipe coolers.
i have one of those on a 3800 X2 and wow i am shocked at how well it cools the cpu.
i think our conroes deserve better heatsinks than those poopy copper core alum. ones.
I actually think these stock HSF from Intel are great! Especially for the non overclocker, but even then I could overclock the CPU greatly without sky high temps (even in comparison with my old Zalman).Quote:

Only problem I have with them is the noise production at somewhat higher temps!

I receive BIOS updates from Gigabyte on a daily basis. There will be another F8 spin today due to a 4:5 ratio issue with the Allendale series. Just because you cannot find it does not mean it is not real. ;) I hit 7x520 on this board today but forget any further information from me on the subject. I am tired of the emails and general abuse around here when trying to help someone.
hey bingo dont mind those      . i really apreciate your help in this thread..
BTW can we have a copy of the f8g bios? :D
regards
Thanks for the updates bingo! You aren't going unappreciated. When i purchased this board, i came in knowing that gigabyte was updating their bios' every other week and its' great to have an ETA on them. Again, thanks!
Also, i'm sure when he's able to leak the beta bios' he'll do so on his own discretion. Theres really no need to flood his PM box with requests.
any newer BIOS than F7b for DS4?? where I can DL it?
I'm eventually going to water cool the CPU, but im holding off buying stuff for that till G80 cards are out in force. Even a modest overclock on stock HSF is welcome by me. Of course use some trusty AS5 instead of that lame pad. :DQuote:

And Gigabyte's early boards came with BIOS's that only supplied stock voltage (1.8v) at boot up. So many of the expensive sticks failed to boot!
Bingo could you please upload the BIOS for us? pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaase :slobber:
Being an extremely happy owner of an ASUS P5B-E, and a considerate purchaser of the s3 or DS3, I can gladly say that I went the right route. I can run my E6300 up to 515 Mhz without a problem on the P5B-E. The only pro the GB boards had over the -E was added vdimm. vdimm on a limited FSB means nothing. You have to realize that people are sitting on these boards and are waiting to overclock their CPUs.Quote:

I'm sorry but GB needs to put out a beta bios and let these people play already....

Stop begging him to release the beta bios, or to send them to you. He will post them if available if not just enjoy the fact that we are getting any form of updates at all. It's like last call at a bar when a hottie walks by, everyone begging-pleading-whining "Where's mine? You whore I want it now, wha wha Wha"
We would all like all our toys right now, sit back, relax..I dunno maybe USE your computer with it's "limited?" oc (hitting well over 50% higher on any cpu is fantastic gains). When the new bios comes out and you oc it it further you will appreciate it all the more.

I only have ONE question for Bingo:
(ahem [clears throat]..) did Gigabyte update the JMicron bios ROM for the DS3 and other boards?
If not i'm gonna be super pissed!
Richard please get us latest intel and other drivers that update recentlyQuote:

Where do u think all the beta bios's they post come from, if they weren't legit.
I want to say thank you to them for what they have given us so far, which they never HAVE to.
Lets not piss off the people outside of gigabyte who actually care enough to help us out.
Sheesh
Werd! Great Post :clap:Quote:

It's like Groundhog Day!:slap:
I wish i could push the ban button on JPH for being nubbish ... and we'll just leave him to create a new s/n
Anyway, How the hell do you have it show the real bios instead of F3 all of the time ...
