Hmmm beging to hate my P35 DQ6 rev 1.0 i changed over memory from Patriot extreme editon PC6400 because it wasn't holding it's overclocks more than a few day at a time on my E6600 before resetting, to Corsair XMS2 PC6400 4-4-4-12 now it won't overclock at all no matter what i put the FSB on im now running stock :(. tried diffrent bioses as well no luck :( :(

I Ran memtest no errors so it not the memory at fault

any ideas people before i rip this thing out and get a new mobo from so other maker.

Thanks r4st4m4n, I've check all the options on the BIOS and nothing like leave the USB powered when the PC is off. Probable because my GA-P35-DS4 is rev. 1.0 and still didn't had this option or something...
It has the ACPI option for the PCI port so probable I'll try buying an USB card with ACPI support. There is only one brand in Japan that says on the box that is ACPI compatible. I'm going to try with that, if doesn't work I have to try the hard way...

I had a problem with my P35-DS4 after remounting a cooler. The system just wouldn't post but instead kept rebooting (without any beeps or anything). I've found more people with this issue using Gigabyte s775 boards, so I'll post the my solution.

The problem came from the the tiny SMD resisters on the bottom of the CPU making contact with those in the middle of the socket causing some sort of short. The cause of this is probably that I always tighten nuts fairly far :p:

Did you try PCI-E +0.1V ? My board need it to be stable over ~390 FSB.

I am at =.1 so I will try moving it up to .2 to see if that makes it stable. I don't understand why the multiplier would cause it to fail since it already runs stable at 450 x 8 but then becomes unstable at 450 x 9. I am also going to try lowering the temps to see if that makes a difference too.

In that case, it shouldn't be needed.

I didn't really read carefully your post. But 4GHz is not something that easy to reach for a Q6600. 1.55V real might just be not enough for your chip.

Why don't you try some values in between 450*8 and 450*9 ? 450 MHZ is quite a big jump. Is there any reason why you absolutely want to stay at 450 MHz FSB ?
Maybe you should set your voltage at 1.6V, start at 400*9 and then increased the FSB by 5-10 MHz step and test the stability at each step.

The reason I went to 450mhz was that the strapping changes when you go from 400mhz to 450mhz for the Ram. My ram actually has no problem overclocking to 1080mhz at 1066 strapping, but for some reason it has a problem going to 980 at 800 strapping, very frustrating. So to fix it, I lowered the multiplier and raised the fsb to force the strapping since I couldn't figure out how to change it. If you have any suggestions or know what the strapping changes at what fsb, ie 425mhz then that would be helpful. I am going to try a couple of things this week, cooling adjusting the voltage on the mch and northbridge. I am also going to try raising the fsb up to 475mhz to see if I can run at that speed, although it only gets me to 3.8Ghz, I have seen plenty running at this speed.

I _THINK_ the strapping changes at 416 to 417 FSB. It does so on my DQ6.
Just set it to 416 and run som ememory benchmark (Everest is a good one).
Then jump up to 417 and run the same benchmark again to see if a big change occur, then you have your strapping value.

Anyone has installed chipset drivers on Vista?

I´m asking this because i´m struggling with oc on my P35-DQ6.
I don´t know if installing the drivers will affect perfomance or oc...:shrug:

I eventually had enough of my P35 DQ6 not holding it clocks & not clocking at all when i changed the memory, so went and bought a cheap MSI P35 NEO2 FR.

Now im happily sat on 3.6GHZ without a single problem :)

Now ive been a Gigabyte fan for years and never had a problem with them my P965 DS3 was rock solid aswell.

This is the 2nd DQ6 rev1.0 ive had both showing same problems.

I think Gigabyte have slip alittle on some of it P35 mobo's personally.

Keep your ram within spec by using the divider inside the bios, i.e. if you are at 400Mhz you would set it to 2 for 800mhz ram. Then try overclocking the cpu. Set you voltage to normal at first and try 333mhz x 9. If it doesn't boot or if it isnt stable try upping the voltage to 1.35 in the bios and try it again. If it still isn't stable try upping the voltage to 1.4 and so on. the "GO" series should easily get you 3.6 at 450x8 with a voltage of 1.45 setting in bios. Also try putting your MCH and FSB voltage to .2 voltage in the bios.

Let us know if that helps,
