Open up your psu. The silverstone ones look like the internal connector is pinned with enough wire lead so you can pin it out and have the wires on the external cable one to one

im wondering what happened to the good old days where we tried to hide all wiring instead of murdermod them.
Hmmmnnn ... that's a possibility, DB. But, I've got another idea up my sleeve ... still thinking about it.
And pingpong ... don't worry about hijacking the thread - this is a learning experience for me and others who are interested. If I was worried about perfection, I wouldn't post pics until I knew everything was perfect ;)
@NaeKuh ... Hiding wires that are in plain site in a Torture Rack is something I haven't figured out how to do. My thought was to try and make them look as good as possible. Unfortunately, I think the uni-sleeving is a bit much for this build - but stay tuned.
Shazza it looks good so far :D
i am never going to get the torture rack because i am cheap and i dont like to sleeve the cables only adaptors
Shaz or some other resourceful person, if you can find this in 18 gauge so it would be perfect for a psu. If you find it please link me!!!
Shaz, to stealth cables in a torture rack you make a bottom front panel and then paint all the bottom inside panels ;)

@NaeKuh ... OMG - a finished system! That looks good, but I'm trying to get rid of/cover up all the multi-colored wires / fishnet excuse they use for sleeving in some of these power supplies. It's really just a quest I've set for myself to keep occupied.
@Cosmos ... well, you don't have to sleeve everything in a Torture Rack. I'm just experimenting.
@ DB ... That stuff looks interesting. And, yeah --- painting a front panel would be one way to do it, but kind of cheating for the goal I've set for myself here.
A question ... If I want to make a new ATX cable from scratch, can I just use 18 AWG wire for each of the individual wires? The manual shows varying sizes from 16-22 AWG for various wires (although what I see in the actual cable doesn't match their spec) ???
I know, I was wanting to extend cables on my build and ran into this issue too, but it is only the gold pins they are sold out of, they still have this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=3593
I doubt there is a huge difference between the silver and gold.
Thanks, millertime! I didn't catch that.
And ... here's a quick shot of the sleeved cable in action. I didn't spend time yet "arranging" it neatly - it's just too much stuff sticking out on what is meant to be more of a minimalist build.

man that looks sweet shazza the blue looks awesome
but i think ill like the red better
did you get the blue RAM on purpose? Awesome work!
awesome Shazza !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im finishing my torture rack too... shame on me I havent post any pics yet !!!!
you're so organized! amazing how you can keep your work area neat shazza
great work on those heatshrinks!
i will have look at your worklog and remind myself to keep things uniform when i do my sleeving

:P drag it under the board so you dont have a loose waterfall going but more of a curve.
Red looks great!
Yes - blue RAM for a blue board. Shopping is my specialty ;)
Get those pics up! I need some ideas.
Thanks, bianco - not always neat, just trying to be more organized.
Ah ha ... I had intended to route the 8-pin under the board, but forgot that the TR has those openings in the mobo tray. I will try going under the board with the 24-pin, although still concerned I've too much going on there. Good idea!
EDIT: Had a chance to do a quick try at routing the cables under the mobo ... has potential:

I agree with Naekuh - routing the cables under the mobo looks heaps better!!!
More pics are needed though to determine further improvements ;)
another vote here for under the mobo :)
I just realized I've never seen a 20/24 molex power connector mounted horizontally (parallel) as apposed to vertically (tangent) on a motherboard. My guess is the reasoning behind that part of the ATX spec is due to insertion force (pulling on things standing vertically tend to topple over - break off) ... that could be it, don't know. ... i've been thinking of modding that part of my mobo recently simply based on color... Might try and "parallelize" it too.
I just mention it because I think in a lot of builds, horizontally mounted power molex would make for a far more unobtrusive wiring job if ones' aim is to hide wiring... Of course, when showing of sleeving as wonderful as shazza's, the obtrusive becomes un-...
Ok, I got a PM asking for "cleanup in aisle 8"
so what needs to go here without me reading the whole thread?
Give me post numbers and I'll take them out with my wet mop, I mean broom..:D
Ok, I cleaned the thread.
How about a little respect for Shazza, one of the nicest people I've seen on XS.
Manners, tact and never a nasty word that I've seen.
I know none of the OT was meant to harm the thread but would have been better off carried out in PM's or in another thread.
Thanks.
