You're correct on that one, Chew. Deneb is meant to compete with the 45nm C2D and C2Q series, performance and price-wise.

Prime 95 screenshots for a week or it didn't happen. 24/7 stability is oftenly misconstrued. winter air doesn't count ;)
Thanks AMD for having me out, was interesting to see frozen Chicago again.
The event went good and was tailored for the overclockers and enthusiasts with multiple forms of cooling, best of all you showed scaling. The only problem condensation proofing for the event and a board failed.
Good to see Sampsa and Petri cranking away at top speed, they did good to get up to speed quickly and looked professional. A brutal round trip flight time, hopefully you got to see some of Chicago.
As for the cpu score, ill respect the reviewers working to let them disclose in a few days.
Mikeguava went out with me to Chicago(thanks Mike), his first time to the area. AMD has the pics, Ill poke at Simon later to locate but I think the pics are on Petri's camera.
gah, tease.
please told us only is phenom II @ 6ghz is good as c2q @ 6ghz ? :D
yes or no ;)
Afaik results will be posted the 20th.
Like I stated an average chip as yours via your claims appears to be better than all the decent core 2 duo's on air  does 3.6 air with the best air cooling possible.
If i had to guess deneb probably need's 600mhz over non xtreme I7's to be competitive which is why its priced there. It appears from what ive seen those average 4.2 on air, while this is an advantage it also appears from what i've read ( and I mentioned this to movieman quite some time ago ) that with the inclusion of an onboard MMC it also brought some form of coldbug. Juries still out IMO.
This leaves a perfect oppurtunity for AMD and I think they knew this and have exploited it.
I don't want to turn this into a VS thread asi don't think either of us are. I think we agree that AMD will be most competitive with intel in extreme cooling, and unless intel works some stepping magic, a 6.3 benchable PII will likely beat out a 5.1 Ci7, which is i believe the highest we're seeing 3d stable.
but lets continue this on friday :D
cool you'll be there? c-ya there.
whats everyones thoughts on higher OC with boards with out the onboard grafics. i know it wont make a huge difference.
are they using those boards just so those with them wont be disapointed? to show a low / avg. OC?
Agreed
-- Sorry to continue the off topic --
You believe the performance delta is this big? From what I have been reading this seems way off. Ofcourse all will be revealed soon

Keeps the reviews coming guys, things are looking good
again, i have no clue and we will see first hand on friday, but nehalem is an incredibly efficient architecture, and hyperthreading gives it an advantage in vantage (lol). 15-20% better is a modest estimate, and still just an estimate.
Chew, everyone...I will not be able to meet up at the best buy before hand. I'll be running a tad late, so I'll have to just see you guys there. I'll be wearing a black t-shirt that says "I am EnJoY"...so I should be fairly easy to spot. ;)
You're on a mission to absolutely confirm the day these will hit retailers! :P
