if you ask me galvanic corrosion is way overrated... i know people who are running copper and alu in the same loop for a long time and they have no problems. if you use a water additive the corrosion wont happen or will happen so slowly it would take decades to really damage any components.
even if you dont use water additive, the worst ive seen was a block getting a rough surface and changing the color, and that was after 1 year of usage or so... :)
Could anyone post settings that worked for him for 500fsb?
Thanx
I am not sure if this applies. I have had trouble trying to download drivers and bios updates from official company websites because of a dsl connection at work. Using the same laptop at home with cable lets me do all of that.
finally ordered one:up:
spent too much time with it on the basket and holding off due to price, but the temptation got too big:p:
I just received my Blackops. I am pretty sure that the top plate for the NB block is aluminum. It is painted black and scratches easily. The back of the box clearly shows a copper top.
We are talking about mis-presentation here, it was really strange that hipro5 confirmed in his posts that it is all-copper ... probably he has a different "demo" board, which had all reviewers?
Regarding galvanic corrosion - the speed of it depend on many factors, such as presence of oxygen/acid in the water, temperature, oxidation of surfaces, etc. etc. but the common rule (such as you can't control all factors) is: http://www.fourseasonsroofingandsidi.../mixmetals.htm
Of course if you use a corrosion inhibitor or special liquids to protect against it, there is no problem. But I bough 4-in1 all-copper version, as stated on my box, why should I accept an aluminum cover?Quote:
So, never mix metals!
BTW the motherboard ia awesome, it is rock stable, as expected. Thanks for it and those minor issues are not     ... those just should be fixed to make this product absolutely perfect, IMO.
Anyone know where to get CF bridges that work with slots 1 & 3? :D
I know people are just getting their boards, but, I have a question. I am running on G17 bios currently. I am running E8400. I do understand that the motherboard is tuned for quad core chips, but I want to see how far I can go. My goal is 500fsb and 2000mhz on Cellshock ram.
I am getting strange ram dividing issues. I am trying to boot at stock ram speeds but when I go into windows, I am getting a lower clock than what I set in the bios. When I set ram to 1800mhz in the bios or something else I get a 5:8 ram divider or 2:3 ram divider? Does anyone know whats going on?
Update to G22 BIOS;)
Thanks. I was sticking with G17 because I think heard that it had the best ram timings. The moderator posted a G22 bios in this thread but I can't find it on the Quantum Force website? Is the one in this thread specifically for the Blackops?
Although, I have expressed displeasure in the aluminum top in this thread, it works quite well. It is keeping the northbridge very cool 28C at stock volts.
edit: Thanks DMH. The G22 bios in the thread solved the wierd ram divider issues.
Another question. Which option in the bios turns off speed step? Thanks in advance
Would like to see DDR2 version of this board...
I would like advice on which memory to get for this board. I want 4GB, but am not clear if I should go with a 4GB kit or 2 x 2GB kit. I have read that come X48 boards have had problems driving 4 sticks?
I am also unlcear if there are other limitations of running 4 sticks compared with 2, I imagine there are, but I havent bumped into anyone talking about them.
Im kinda looking at these :-
2 x 2GB Corsair TWIN3X2048-1800C7DFIN 7-7-7-20
1 x 4GB Corsair TW3X4G1800C8DF 8-8-8-24
2 x 2GB CellShock DDR3 14400 1800MHz 8-7-6-21
2 x 2GB Cellshock DDR3 15000 1866 MHz 8-8-8-16
I understand asking a question like this is very subjective, and that the board is new so there is not a wealth of tested combinations, and that the BIOS is changing to improve stuff all the time, but I have the board, the processor is a 9770 btw. CPU & NB will be WC.
Thank you in advance.
Hi!
Has anyone any luck at overclocking an E8500 chip at 450 /500 FSB
if so can they post their settings
I was stable with my SIIE for a while, but typically this board works fine for a while and then decides to go back to crashing and freezing
i am hoping to to get the blackops board, but want to make sure the E8500 will work fine first
thanks
flanr
Well, at least for now, 500 fsb seems like mission impossible on this board. I managed to boot using 8X500, though it was not benchable at all. Just a winrar test and then it crushed. I tried several combinations with the timings but no luck. I someone else can give us stable settings for 500 fsb I would appreciate it as well.
460 and 470 though, is pretty easy on this board but again it's pretty low for an E8500. This board was built only for unlocked multipliers and that is final... aka QX9XXX:up:
I have test today the news BlackOps X48 :)
First test with the bios 05/09 on max freq DDR3 (STT DDR3 1800 ProjectX) on single at 2.2v :)
