R600 is using it's shader processing power to do the taks that RV610/630 do trough dedicated part of silicon???
(quite similar to the solution that was applied for XBOX360)
And that task is know under marketing umbrella called UVD!!
So yes, R600 has UVD capabilities, but implemented in different fashion the in RV610/630!
Is it now more clear?

According to my support ticket, by ATI offical tech support, UVD is hardware decoding, and is present in 2900XT. Another more senior tech corrected the first tech to say that there was no UVD(again, from ATI offical employee) in HD2900XT, and then the next day i got a response indicating that a notice had been created on teh issue, as I have shown earlier.
I don't care aobut Dave Beaumann. I care about the products in my systems right now, and what I have gotten from "official" ATI employees both over the phone and in writing.
Notice that Sampsa has not posted that he has HD-DVD working properly yet either...it's not like this is simple configuration issue...this is hardware not functioning like it says on the box, not functioning like many review sites have posted, and many of ATi's own product pages have posted on them as well. They all say that this card supports decoding acceleration, whether it be hardware or software, and, unfortunately for myself and many others that have bought these cards, not one version of this "AVIVO HD" works.
Currently...there is no GPU-assisted HD decoding. I don't care who says what...that's the plain ol' facts.
ATI's flipping and flopping more on this than Kerry ever did on Vietnam or the War in Iraq.
I'll keep this up until end of Computex...so read up or ask away if you need info on this.

Perhaps AMD should just fire every single marketing & PR guy and hire someone that isn't the village idiot.
In my opinion R600 does not have the UVD they were once upon a time shouting from the rooftops but a mere shadow of it. Should they call it UVD, no. It should be called SVD (Shader Video Decoding).
