hey guys, i was thinking about putting the northbridge underwater. what blocks fit this board? i did a search but couldnt find anything. sorry to bring up something that has prolly been mentioned. thx.
guys,
whats the difference between the LT and the DK?? Isnt this the same board?
Did anyone try to flash a DK bios to the LT/UT?? The DK bios is pretty new!
Also..why cant i adjust my CPU fan speed? I hooked my 3 pin CPU fan to the "CPU fan" connector on the board...but this is the only fan i can not control the speed at all!
Hey all, i got my mobo and it's all set up and running at stock settings. I managed to mount the TRUE facing the rear with np too. :) Still need to get a fan on the nb but i was thinking i could mount my HR-03GT on the top of my 8800GTS with a 92mm Tornado and the nado would pull some heat away from the nb, what do you think? I also managed to get the OCZ XTC cooler over the ram and it is budged right up against the TRUE and nb hs. Anyway, i was wondering if anyone here is running the same cpu and ram on this board and could post some successful bios settings for me? I'm finding it hard to get some time to read up on this bios and would really like a good starting point. I know this chip is capable of at least 3.5GHz 24/7 and the ram is D9 so it should do pretty well. The person who had the chip before me was able to get 4.0GHz at just over 1.5v on water. What would you guys recommend the max voltage for daily use on air with this chip?
I'll have my x38 probably next week and my quad can do 500x9 super pi and 460*9 3d mark stable on air,so we'll see... I hope it can do at least 505mhz fsb for super pi
praz, all my other fans i can set speed w/ speedfan or in bios. they're all 3 pin! Only CPU fan i can not control. Its the same fan eg. as my chassis fan or intake fan.
All your other fans are connected to three pin headers (designed for three pin fans). The CPU fan header is four pin, designed for a PWM fan.
Thanks Praz. anyone knoe if the Danger Den Mpc-chipset block fits? or of any EK blocks? thx.
Seems like no one has owned/tried DK X38 other than wedfighter. Im still deciding which board to buy..DK or LT.
i just flashed bios with x38 dk bios:rofl:
i :banana::banana::banana::banana:ed up :rofl:
good thing i had 2 spare chips lmao
then i just hotflashed bios :D
any canadians need a spare chip i got a spare can give it for 12$ + shipping
Well, I got my board installed with a Q6600, my 2GB G.Skil HZ'z, my 3870X2, 4x250GB Seagate 7200.10's in Matrix Raid0/5, and a LiteOn LightScribe DVD burner. I install Vista (I've got a free Business version=legit) on it and I'm ready to tweak. However, I'm getting reboots when I load CPU-z. I tried it with 1.42 and the latest 1.44.1. Weird thing is I was able to run it before, but not now. Any clues why?
Thanks for the info. I forgot to add that I, too am using the original November release. I assume that it's crashing when it's probing the board for DMI information or something, Originally, CPU-z was locking up. Then I noticed after I disabled driver signing that it would load, but know it's crashing.
Noob question on Vista - do I have to keep disabling driver signing over and over each time I reboot, or do I have to do it just the one time? I keep forgetting to check the setting when it reboots.
Frank is working on the issue concerning CPU-Z, Vista and this board. The problem is in the DMI portion of the later BIOS releases. In the CPU-Z ini file set either SMBus or Sensor to OFF. That will allow CPU-Z to run and still display the important info. CPU-Z shows improper VCORE and info in Motherboard tab in Vista 32Bit and Vista 64Bit because the Sensor entry is set to Off.

Vista 64Bit. Driver signing not disabled.

Thanks Praz. I figured there was a work-around for this, but I knew I didn't want to totally bypass the driver and lose the info not being read at all.
