Has anyone used 4GB dimms with this board? I'd like to get 6x4GB (specifically 2x OCZ Reaper 12GB PC3-16000C9) but not sure if this board supports 24GB? I also have an old BIOS.
Edit: I see it supports 24GB. But on Gigabytes memory support list for this board it only has one set of 4GB Dimm memory by Samsung. Obviously the RAM dont have to be on the support list for it to work, so just wondered if anyone has tried any other 4GB Dimms?
24GB of ram, wow, I have 12 (6x2GB) and the only app i have that uses all my ram is 7zip.
i supose ramdrive would be nice:)

Is it likely that two different brands of memory (but same size) will run ok in tri-channel?
Decided to go a different route instead of knead-able eraser on the prep for some DICE runs. It's a little tricky to pour

Hi all. Newbie overclocker here. I've never done i7 OC before and i was wondering if anyone can help me OC my 920 D0 with 12gb 2000Mhz C9 RAM. I just loaded the F7 Bios but which BIOS would you guys recommend? I'm hoping for around 4.2 to 4.4Ghz 24/7 OC.
My specs:
CPU: i7 920 D0 (liquid cooled apogee XT)
MOBO: GA-X58A-UD7 rev. 1.0 (F7 bios using the liquid cooling block that came with the board)
GPU: XFX 5970 2gb (running at 1Ghz/1300Mhz with Danger Den waterblocks)
PHYSX: GTX260 OC Maxcore (at stock w/ standard air cooling)
RAM: 12gb (6 x 2gb) Kingston HyperX KHX2000C9D3T1FK3 (at default atm using kingston Fans)
SOUNDCARD: Creative Titanium Fatal1ty
HDD1: WD 160gb velociraptor
HDD2: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3
PSU: Corsair hx1000
MONITOR: HP LP2475W H-IPS
SPEAKERS: 5.1 Klipsch HD300

What is the Northbridge heatsink? Do they come std with the later revisions, or is it an aftermarket one? Looks much better than losing the 1x slot, that's for sure.
The hestink comes standard with the rev 2.0 board, so do the WB and silent heatpipe thingy that takes up a slot if you want to use it.Quote:

After using it I think it will hold up to L2N and I may even try pouring some into my RAM slots and PCI-E to see if it comes out without ripping.
