I should get this board soon with Q9650 E0, 8GB G.SKILL PC2 8800 RAM and PC Power & Cooling PPCT860 860W (build for a friend). I will also test my Q6600 that I can prime at 484FSB using DFI LP P35. All 4 slots will be filled, It's going to be a lot of stress on the board but I'm looking for good clocks.

Sounds good, I will go straight for 2:3, 400x10, DDR1200 5-5-5-18 trfc 52 (trd = 5 - 1 with pull-ins doable maybe?) when parts arrive. I don't think it will be necessary to put the weakest sticks closest or the CPU or DIMM1, BIOS does a good job calculating delays for each DIMM :up:. Guy will be happy, he's still on P4 3Ghz CPU doing video editing with Sony Vegas and $3K HD camera :(. I only buy DFI boards zsamz...Quote:

Went back to my 3600mhz settings and booted right up. I guess I will just run it like this and hope for the best I realize my vtt is a bit high, im curious what the actual voltage is but I don't have SMD multimeter probes that are recommended. I may stop at frys and pick some up for my fluke though, seems like a good idea to have a set anyways. It will probably end up being the first CPU I have killed and also the most expensive purchased to date. but it angers me so much and I guess running it for a bit is better than smashing it with DEAD ON ANNIHILATOR tool. But I think I will get one of those also just in case it pisses me off again ;)
Are you speaking only with quads, or in general with all CPU's? If it is really limited to 450 FSB for other CPU's as well I might sell it. Theres plenty of boards hitting over 500 FSB, and this one was recommended to me on this forum as being very capable of doing so. My last DFI board was ecelent but now it seems alot of people no longer like them. Is DFI junk these days? Is Asus really the best OCing MB now? I am on water, but ouch CPU burn still hurts! My temps get over 73c with CPU burning running and Thermochill PA 120.3 Fuzion V2 etc :( Afraid to run that program on my laptop but it might be a good idea right before the warranty is up lol.Quote:

It's passing ICB (Intel CPU Burn) but just randomly shutting down....Perhaps the V-regs are too hot, or maybe not enough VTT! Or maybe my Enermax Liberty 620 is topped off and things will improve when I recdieve my Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 watt...
1) enermax is not recommended with dfi
2) You need to actively cool the digital phase region and add some heatsinks over the CPLs next to the PWM heatsink
3) Start using OCCT/Prime, that are 99% tested and working perfectly.
4) Use only 4Gbs of memory in the beginning and set vNB to 1.55v to make sure you have enough
5) Set GTLs disabled
6) Set VTT a little higher than stock (if stock 1.1 then give 1.2 to start from)
7) Set vcore to 1.40
8) Loose tRD to 9
9) Set all memory settings dfi has to normal or more relaxed
10) Start finding max overclock for your cpu by changing ONLY vcore and vtt ;)

Board voltages should be plenty. Are you sure the 6800 will run at that voltage? Been a while since mine has been in a board but I'm pretty sure it requires more volts then that for 3.95.Quote:

I have a Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 watt on the way from europe ... It's taking forever to get here. ..
PC seems to be prime stable, but prime does not push it nearly as hard as Intel CPU Burn (if you havent tried it try it!). I get almost 15-20c hotter in intel CPU burn and it causes my computer to shut off! Prime I only hit about 58c under load after some time, but intel CPU burn I'm hitting 75c on water!
Link to pictures of the added heatsinks over CPL's and actively cooled digital phase region? Any watercooling parts available for this?
BTW, if I set GTL's much lower I can't even boot into windows. If I set vtt lower I get into windows and instant freeze under load. I'm not sure they are too high.... I mean not for trying to achieve stable 3600 MHZ anyways. How can my GTL's and VTT be too high if I can't go any lower and maintain stability? I have spent well over 20 hours on this so far just rebooting testing rebooting. I know the GTL's look funky but what can I do its the only thing that will get through the IntelBurnTest (I keep wanting to call it intel CPU Burn for whatever reason lol)! I can make 10 passes and 100% stable but if I go for 20 the entire computer will just shut off no blue screen nothing! Just shuts off!

Have you tried your chip in another motherboard? I had a q6600 that would not do ANYTHING over 3.2 G, no matter what I tried. Turns out that it was my CPU. I swapped it for another q6600 from a work machine ;) and now it runs like a champ. VID is also not a perfect indication of how well a chip will clock. Maybe you just have a lead (instead of golden) chip. Be sure to test everything at its stock voltage, separately. I had issues with ram as well. Nothing an RMA couldn't fix, though. Maybe I am wrong, after all, I am way to lazy to go back and read everything you have tried. :DQuote:

Now that I have read your posts, here is what I think. You gave the chip too much VTT, and now it will not clock well without it. i think that u need more voltage, i need in the 1.5V range with my e6850 (500x8) and 1.55V vtt, and for 4.45 i need 1.575V core and 1.6V VTT, and i need 1.65V NB, withe the gtls set to 68%/68%-2/68% based on what the bios saysQuote:

Nono I tried less VTT first it would not clock. I dont think the CPU has degraded yet that takes some time, plus its under water... It works fine at stock speeds.
maybe its your ram, u have 8GB and if u dont have all the timings right it will mess with it
I'm only running 4GB (trying dual channel since I can OC like crazy in Single Channel bt will need dual channel when I pop in 8gb), the timings show up properly in CPU-Z as well as the voltage in bios.Quote:

The GTL's he has listed as 0/1 and 2/3 where my bios has them as 0/3 and 1/2??? Also the 1/2 GTL is in a slightly different location on the X48. But, none the less my readings vary 3-5-off the cart in my voltage readings when compareing them to this

For example at 1.5VTT my 1/2 GTL is 128 measuring 1.054v where his 1/2 @130 is .894 WOW what a huge difference! Well this can explain my crazy GTLs or at least why his settings are no where near working for me. But now I can adjust them as needed with accuracy with my new tool just taking measurements.
My new target is now 3400 MHZ @ 1.330 VTT (set in bios)
What is your new tool, I'm not following :confused:. DMM? The GTL will differ for all of us, different power supplies make to biggest difference. 110v or 230v wall socket will also make a difference. There are two ways you can go, trail & error or DMM. You should be alright with GTL disabled but you aren't, get rid of that PSU or do basic troubleshooting and use common sense. Also, ppl posting those number tables is total b*ll:banana::banana::banana::banana: in my opinion :down:, doesn't help just complicates things, unless we all had identical components under same conditions.Quote:

I have my E8400 @4Ghz (445x9) with 1.328vcore, 1.4NB, 1.14VTT.
What I don't get is that with VDroop Setting turned off I get a rock solid 1.328v -idle to 1.312v full load but with the VDroop setting turned on its terrible. It goes from 1.328v to 1.264v o well at least I found settings that worked. Oh, and I have NOT touched the GTL settings.
