Hey Ket right now with the p5q-em I cannot boot the ram up at stock 1066mhz without ocing my CPU so I was wondering if you could mod the bios to allow the ram to be set at 1066mhz without ocing the CPU?? That would be amazing. Or better yet even allow the ram to be unlinked. I don't know if that's possible.
Set a different FSB strap, then you will be able to set a faster DRAM frequency.
Even by changing the strap the two settings remotely close to 1066 is 1100 and 1001 if I remember correctly. These Dominator 1066 is unstable at 1100. I would just like the option of running all the hardware at rated specs without having to OC. If it's not possible it's cool.
Changing FSB strap is as good as it gets to obtaining the DRAM frequency you want in that case. The only other option is to lower your CPU multi and raise FSB until you hit 1066.
Well i have tried everything these last few days now. I ran memtest on individual modules and they pass. Ran it in pairs too. Only time i get problems in memtest when i run all 4 modules. One thing i have now discovered is that if i let the computer 'warm up' for say about 10 mins or so, it boots without a hitch at 1066Mhz!! Sounds a lil funny as nothing has changed during that period except its been powered up for some time. If i remove one memory stick then the pc powers up instantly. Experimenting with the timings now... hopefully things should get better... Heres my setting for now:
Ram: 2.1v(5-5-5-18)
NB:1.3v
SB:1.2v
LLC:Disabled
Funny thing is other than this, the pc is rock stable. Never had a bsod or freeze....
Run memtest for windows. It sounds like one of your memory sticks is flaky or not getting enough voltage.
This is more to satisfy my own curiosity, but whats the best FSB people with a P5Q Pro, Deluxe, and Premium have people been able to get? Been thinking of picking up a Premium just for the hell of it for something a bit different to mess with, but if theres no real clocking advantage over my Pro I probably won't bother.
The highest stable FSB (full Prime Custom run) I can reach with my P5Q Vanilla is 512 - next step I tried was 525, but that isn't possible with my board. I think even with the Pro you can't get higher. With P5Q-E, Deluxe or Premium you may be able to, because they have better GTL options (I am still messing around with BIOS modding to attach this options to a Vanilla or Pro, and every help is appreciated :p:), but that is just anyone's guess. Even though with a Quad Core it's hard to get a higher stable FSB than 450-470. For Quad OC I would recommend a GIGABYTE UD3P/UD3R... call me a traitor. :D
TRAITOR! :p: I'm currently running 475FSB without really trying on my P5Q Pro :D only another 20MHz or so and I'll have one of the best FSB quads around :D
Same here, 475 is a cinch (easy), but getting higher is harder.
I don't believe its hardware related like the Mobos components.
I doubt getting to 475 with no major voltages then needing major voltage to get higher and its still not stable is normal behaviour, it must be the Bios, and lack of support from Asus.
I can get 485 by increasing SB voltage (don't need to touch till after 475 but it is not stable yet and probably ain't worth the extra voltages over 475.
I am on latest (supposed to be not the best) 2104 Bios but ain't tried older ones since I got the Quad.
I would love 500 on my Quad same as I had on my Dual.
Do you have a special modded Bios for the MFII ? (I have read this thread in the past but not much in it for MFII users).
P.S, it makes no difference if I am on 2 Modules or 4 Modules, still the same wall.

I've got a p5q-e, an e7200, and 4g corsair (8500c5d? I think),
cpu 3.57 1.47v, 333 strap(?) 1:1 ratio 508 fsb, 7.0 multiplier
My issue is I'm absolutely capped as far as I can tell in every way by my cpu (orthos tosses errors 48+ hours in anything higher, even with even more ridiculous volts), and I'd like to get my fsb up as high as possible. Problem is, I can't boot at 6.5 or 6.0 multiplier. I actually figured out the issue when speedstep dropped the multi to 6.0 as it does, and killed the machine each time :)
I've been checking it out for the last, 3 or 4 bios', haven't ever managed to get it working, (They've been miraculous so far, make me love this board even more than originally), any clue on if it's possible to get that 6 or 6.5 kicking ass? I've got 25mhz more headroom at least on the fsb with this ram, and it's been killing me :)
I done a M2F mBIOS a while ago, it should still be in this thread somewhere. I've got up to 501FSB on my P5Q Pro so far, 515 wouldn't get into Windows, but I may be able to get it stable.
@ Sakai; 508FSB is pretty high, it may well be thats your FSB wall. For a E7200, thats a high FSB. I'm not sure I would run 1.47v through it 24/7 though unless your trying to kill the chip.

I pushed 1.45v through my old E7200 for a test, but felt really uncomfortable at leaving it there - so i knocked it back to 1.38125v.
I was finally messing with 500FSB other day (posted in MFII thread), it is a hit and a miss, 1 minute ok next minute not ok and very hard to work out what it needs to stabilise it.
That's why I say its the lack of Bios support.
I may look into your MFII bios if I can find it and it aint too old.
I have seen the lower range Asus P45 getting higher than the MFII thats why I assume ita lack of support.
I've actually been running it like this since I bought the board or chip together, whichever it was that came out last, so it's been over a year like this now, with no need for a voltage increase since then :)
It's actually been your bios' that've let me get the fsb this high :)
I can use the 6.0 and 6.5 multipliers up to 470, can't boot any higher than that. (this is all being done with the 333 1:1 setup).
Any ideas on getting at these multipliers with a higher fsb?
Since my :( lost of 1402m I use 1702m then move to 2201m just in case I got better shot clocking E84 E0 in P5Q-Deluxe.
Doesn't result much difference compared to 1702m in clocking term, but there are random freezes in CMOS setup page.
This can also occur after I hit F10. The late saved settings are applied in next boot BTW.
Revert back to previous BIOS this problem didn't appear anymore.
In fact I got better vcore efficiency. Now it won't need a vcore raise to get 4gig anymore, even with an exact same settings.
Like women, boards are funny... don't know exactly when can you hit em most... :D
533-550 here, the thing I find with these boards is the NB holding people back. I found over 475 like most have said the board needs alot of juice. I.E. 475 looks like this :

I'm running a Dual core E8500 with 4 gigs of corsair dominators which btw hold me back, otherwise I would be in the 600 range for sure. With those voltages I run 24/7 cpu on water 37 C, 55C load and NB around 38 C all day long. CPU and NB GTL's don't really come into play until above 550 fsb or higher so no need to worry there. Like I said everything above 475 needs voltage, just have active cooling on the NB and Ram via 120mm fan and everything is good.
P.S. I found a nice way to eliminate errors while OC these boards, these are the steps I take to do it. Set your fsb to whatever you want, I go in 15 mhz increments, I found for every 15 mhz increment above 475 you need to bump the NB voltage 2 steps. When you finish and happen to be running Vista or even XP you can run Windows Mem checker, for 2 passes is sufficient, hasen't let me down yet. This will tell you literally withing the first 24% of completion weather or not your FSB is stable on the Memory side anyway. Next if you have freezing in windows because fo your increased fsb it's probably time to up the VTT voltage, if you have blue screens need more Vcore Voltage. Like I said this has worked for me flawlessly after fighting with it so much at first, if you eliminate the memory errors before getting into windows then CPU is the only thing holding you back, then makes life alot easier as there's only 2 things to change there. GL Have fun, take small steps and all will be well. Almost forgot, watch your voltages as the memory seems to be overvolted, 2.02 gets me 2.1 right on the money, whereas the NB is slightly overvolted only, 1.36 gets me 1.37-1.38.
The Dominator's if older Rev 1.1 can easy do 1200mhz, its just a lack of support by Asus (they ain't even on the QVL for my Mobo).
Also GTL's may not be needed for a Dual (did not need on my E8600) but still better to do the CPU GTL's as you can then lower VCore.
I had 4GHZ 500FSB on the E8600 24/7, all Voltages were on the lowest apart from NB which was 1.2v (Lowest is 1.1v), CPU was @ 1.068v
On the other side of the coin, on a Quad you will need CPU and NB GTL's adjusted approaching 500FSB.
My Dlx board did 500FSB easily on the quad (with rams at 1200mhz very very important to get off the 1:1 divider) and 600FSB on the dual core was the max I could get stable ( needed loads of GTL tweaking to get 32m stability )

Well this all proves I need to sort my memory out :p: I'll flash the speed data on the modules later. As far as Pro boards go looking at other peoples results I guess mine is pretty good. It'll run .61 GTL even @ 500FSB. Time to play around some more :D
Ok.. messed with the speed data and this kit of aXeRAM is just not stable @ 1156MHz :( No idea why I've had this kit @ 1174MHz 2.1v before.
