need a new bios so badly, this 8a for my DS3 sux so bad, i mean sometimes i cant even cold boot and i have to turn it off then on again for it to boot, and i got this also with the f7 bios, and then i get some random times when i boot up that i get a screen that pops up rather than windows with colors that are green blue and red and i have to restart and then it works, i have had that graphical issue 2 times. anyone else with that issue. i have a 7950gx2, and the e6400 with ballistix ram.
I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES!!!! I have everything at stock settings now with the F6 bios and I cannot even cold boot half the time. It just freezes on the windows logo boot screen or it has weird coloring on the bios boot screen or does strange things during bios bootup. I also have a 7950gx2 and D9 gskill memory. I am not sure if its my 7950gx2 or the ds3 although I would guess its the ds3 since when I get in to windows things runn pretty good. Keep in mind this is all stock settings now. I can't for the life of me even get a stable oc anymore. Not sure if its becuase I updated to F6 or if my ds3 is just crapping out.Quote:

are you guys locking the pci-e at 100 ?
wierd colors are usually caused by faulty video cards, possibly the ram or the gpu.
could even be just the output of the video card.
just keep an eye on it and see if you can narrow down any setting that your using or changing or something.
Lestat the strange rainbow and scrambled characters occur DURING bios boot screen. Never while running windows. I can even OC my 7950gx2 to 700/550 from 500/600 and it runs perfect if I can actually get in windows. I can game playing BF2142 and Gothic 3 at highest settings for hours once I actually get my system to boot up properly in to windows. Its the weird bios boot problems and the system freezes during the windows boot screen that are causing the issues. This is with automatic voltage control and stock FSB and voltages. I don't even bother to OC anymore since I upgraded to F6 I cannot get any kind of stable OC.Quote:

I have also tried reinstalling the OS and not even attempting to OC and leaving everythign at stock and boot problems still occur.
hhmm almost sounds like the way the POST process is handling the dual cards.
maybe its confused and thinks it should be sli and its not. ???
i couldnt get so lucky as to get one of those card lol. lucky you guys.
btw which NB cooler is that your using headshot ?
my little TwinkleStar works great.
Yeah I am not sure what is causing the problem. I am just guessing that its the motherboard since the only times I have problems is during bios boot and also hard freezing during the windows xp splash screen. I get bout 1 out of 4 perfectly successful boots at stock settings witht this bios. Im thinking about switching back to F4 and seeing if that helps things.Quote:

I purchased a seperate 40mm fan and glued it to the side of it.
I had to glue the mounting bracket to the back of the motherboard becuase the mounting bracket had a tendency to snap off the motherboard releasing the HS which of course is NOT GOOD. Just a tiny tiny dab of superglue to the mounting punches did the job.
Well guys, have a look at this and tell me what you think ;)

I have a DS3 (F7 bios) and an E6300 week 27 that is currently running at 3150GHz (450 x 7) with OCZ Platinum (Revision 1) 2 x 1GB sticks. Paid $189 for the OCZ
I am wondering if it is worth it for me to buy the Crucial Anniversary sticks (D9GMH) for $50 more than I paid for my OCZs to try to get more MHz...
Knowing that my current memory is the bottleneck is kind of knawing away at me - even though getting 2-300 more MHz from 3150 is not going to do much if anything for games or applications...
Gary Key over at Anandtech told me that Gigabyte will release a new bios this week to fix the D9 issues... :toast:
I have D9 G.SKILL, i can go 1000MHz with 2.3V, HZ are well regarded.
Yup, yup. I was in same boat, but decided to return the chip for an E6400 and get the 8x multi. I run @ 3300 w/ default vcore now. It's only a touch more, but at least I know the potential for 3600's there when I improve my cooling.Quote:

Thanks in advance :)
I think im set on this memory.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145034
Corsair XMS2
TWIN2X2048-6400C4
4-4-4-15
EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) and also SLI certified
Anyone use this in the Ds3? Any complaints, other than the lame price. :P
conroelover, I think that is good memory you have, from what i researched in my new system.
Excellent ram. Booted fine on DS3. Took it to 900Mhz 4.4.4.12 @ 2.1V. Probably had more, but I went for the $160 Patriot in the end. Only does 900Mhz 5.5.5.15 @ 2.1V, but hella cheap.
Same issuse with DS4 F7b I back to F6 officialQuote:

ConroeLover : its Great memory you can try also patriot, 2GB is needed for Vista!
Your Patriot 667 is auto 5-5-5-15 (signature series) or 4-4-4-12 (performance series)Quote:

It's the good stuff. Black heatspreader from the egg a month or two ago. I haven't pushed it past 900 as that's all I need for now. It wouldn't do the 4.4.4.12@900 like the Corsair tho.
Is there any different between the BIOS on gigabyte site and the URLs that you posted ?
ofcourse its a Gigabyte , DS4 C1 rev. Strangely the DQ6 runs the ballistix fine too. Havent tested it with a DS3 :(Quote:

I have tried F5,F6,F7 bios and I am using the most recent 91.47 nvidia drivers.
I am having the following issues:
1) During a cold boot up the system will hard freeze during the windows xp splash screen with the progress bar. I am only able to boot up from a cold start successfully about 1:3 or 1:2 times.
2) Immediately after the windows xp splash screen with the progress bar dissappears the monintor always goes in to sleep mode for about 5-10 seconds before loading windows graphics. From my understanding this is normal with the 7950gx2. HOWEVER, sometimes it will never wake up from sleep mode or it will wake up and just display a black screen causing me to have to hard reset the system.
3)Very seldomly but sometimes I get graphical color scrambles on the BIOS boot screen. If I quick hit control alt delete to do a reset it cleans up immediately.
These issues are driving me nuts and I am not able to overclock or this all gets much worse. I have these issues at stock speeds and automatic voltage as well as normal voltage.
I have done fresh xp installations, upgraded all drivers, changed bioses. Anyone having these issues or know how to resolve?
its the way the DS3 is handling the 7950 have to wait for gigabyte to POSSIBLY fix it although i am quite positive they will deny it exsists and ask you all sorts of questions that have nothing to do with the issue.
ie; you tell them you did a fresh install and 4 days later when they reply they will ask if you did a fresh install of windows. and thats all nothing else. then you have to reply back and 3-4 days later they will reply back with another b.s. email.
i swear they dont even read the little questionaire you fill out when you submit the troubleshooting email.
are you using S1 or S3 in the bios ? S3 is worthless cuz how many of us actually use sleep mode on their PC ?

Not sure which sleep mode I am using. Whatever the default is under optimized defaults since I never change anything there.
I am about a week away from selling this damn thing and getting an asus p5b delux. Piss me off to spend over 3g's to have a non functioning PC.
