If you have an asus or gigabyte board you don't need to do anything to enable smp, it should work straight from the box.Quote:

You can either blow the 3rd L5 bridge with a 9 volt battery or cut it with an exacto knife. If you need more specifics about the bridges:

I prefere blowing the bridges to cutting them. Just scrape a bit of coating off and blow them with the powersupply. It's very clean and allways worked for me. Cutting you risk to do it too deep and bust the chip.

Oh btw, guys, NewEgg has the 35w now. The description is wrong, but look at the stepping:

HAPPY DAYS!!!
Thanks for the heads up, WiCKeD. Man, I've been checking their mobile page everyday and they don't even have it listed with the others. How long has the Egg stocked these? Anyways, I got one on the way :D Hope its an I stepping but doubt it. They should seriously start copying excaliber's greedy-ass ways: list full steppings so they can charge more. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for an I.
lol Adv. good thinking... ;)
let us know how it goes.
Probably just posted them today! Someone today over at EOCF was pointing out the new A64 Mobile 62w that NewEgg just posted and asking if there specs were wrong (they were :D).Quote:

So I wanted to see if NewEgg had finally posted the correct specs of the regular XP mobiles. Did a search for mobile XP and saw the duplicate, overpriced 2400+. Realized what NewEgg had probably done again, looked at the stepping and a few clicks later, found myself staring at the receipt for a new 35w! Woohoo!!!
You're right though, it's highly likely that we will get "A" steppings. The picture on-line even shows an "A" stepping. It took awhile to burn through the stock to the "I"s. Looks like itbukken is already there, but it will take awhile for WOM to spread and for NewEgg to catch up by burning through their inventory. At least the ball has started rolling...
At the very least, the 35w don't seem to do much worse than the "I" 45w, so it's all good. Oh and if NewEgg started listing full steppings, they'd be sitting on an inventory full of AQZFAs like excaliberpc is doing now! I'm kind of glad that they don't. Gambling is fun, too.
Actually the only REALLY good stepping I have seen is the IQYFA0345SPMW that I have. Some A chips are really good too (about the same as good 2500 I's). Some have got IQZFA0351TPMW's from ITbutikken, they are worse than most A's.
can someone clarify what he means here? Why do they start selling the bad chips and then later sell the better ones? Also, i heard amd will annouce a new chip soon - june 1st. If i buy a mobile barton then, will the price be lower than it is now - or will it take awhile for then to lower? Any predictions on which bartons will have the best steppings then?Quote:

Because the "A" steppings are older and will be sold first by newegg. Then after we burn through that stock we will get to the "I" steppings.
My chip is a IQHFA0402MPM some thing if i rember corret ;)
Emailed newegg and they have fixed the voltage on the 2400 35 watt mobile chip..
Probably IQYFA, IQYHA or IQZFA ;)Quote:

Yeah they cost more than newegg's 78 dollar 2400xp mobile, but cheaper than Excaliber's price gougeing.

Hehe, me too. I sent them over some loving words on that :smileysex (had to use that smiley). They also fixed the A64 within hours of e-mailing. Amusing thing is their CS just got back to me today saying they would "get right on it."Quote:
