my card did this as well. But i had another card next to me, tried that one and it does 1250mhz core with 1.25v set in MSI AB. So it all depends on the card, some like voltage some do not, weird.
Helix - did you try both at max volts but default clocks? I think thats what Andrea is asking.

I have an Asus HD 7970 and it won't do 1300 @ 1.3V so I tried to do 1250 @ 1.275V but it artifacts like crazy. Anyone else think putting a waterblock on it would make it stable since it should be able to cool the card better? At stock volts it does 1150 easily.
really intrested in getting one of these cards waiting for april thou when ivy bridge is here.
My Sapphire does 1165 at stock volts with fan on auto, and does about 1270 at 1.3v with fan turned up, yes that droops to about 1.19-1.21v under load.

I have a Diamond model, which is a very good overclocker, doing 1.250ghz core, 1.725ghz mem with 1.262v set in afterburner. I did test a Sapphire card that i used for a build for a customer that did 1170 core on stock volts, it would crash tho once i raised voltage, lots of people are reporting this issue, seems to be a hit and miss with cards that can get over 1.2ghz.
My card is a Sapphire and i can raise the voltage up to 1.3v without any problem...
It's not the purpose of my post, i'm here only to show my max OC. I play BF3 at max CCC, Crysis is too old to have interest now and MW3 seriously m8 a poor graphic game like that is an offense to the 7970?

@pinto, are you using the Asus software to clock the card? My mem wont get near those clocks with afterburner.

The main reason of releasing new version is highlighted in bold. I'm tired of seeing lamers badmouthing current version of MSI Afterburner because of it "incorrect" voltage control causing "voltage drops" in different forums. Now preceise voltage monitoring from real sensor is simply hidden from users's eyes and you see traditional target VID monitoring, which was available in the previous graphics card families.
