When this gets assembled it won't have any of those puny four core chips in it my friend..It will be a beast with 12 cores at a speed that will make that Frenchman say " Merde!"

I'm so jealous. Enjoy your new toy, Dave.
I gotta get me one of these; then I will let it sit and collect dust as I would not be able to afford the cpu's :ROTF:
Can't wait to see this get put together along with some #'s.
Hope you can get your parts soon Dave:up:
so much talk and no pics of this thing running yet lol. i guess i'll just stay tuned for the worklog. so first worklog right dave?

FAQ of W555
You can run different models of Dual QPI Xeon together – such as 5520 + 5540, even Quad Core + Hexa Core together – but must be from same family – ie, NO for Westmere + Nehalem – Performance scaling is fine
You can run turbo mode on one CPU and non Turbo Mode on the other too
You can run a single CPU (Must be Dual QPI) in any one of the 2 sockets
You can run Non ECC normal DRAMs but also ECC Rams too
Dual QPI Xeon DRAM Multipliers/Uncore Multipliers are locked so you will only be able to use maximum 2:8 or 2:10 depending on segment of CPU
You can run 200 – 205MHz Baseclocks on air – 230+ needs LN2
Motherboard is 381mm width by 345mm length
Motherboard supports 4-way SLI on current GTX285/upcoming Flagship VGA
Motherboard supports 4-way Quad Fire
Motherboard will ship with typical 1366 Xeon socket back-plates but normal X58 socket back-plates will be bundled in package
Motherboard bundled with ECP V3 – Vcore Boosters + Speedfan 100% Click Boost + CPUs/PCIEs Disable
Power Consumption Tests:
2.8GHz x 2 @ 1.20v w 24 threads Full Load + 12GB Rams + 1x GTX285 Classified Full Load = 535w from AC socket
2.8GHz x 2 @ 1.20v w 24 threads Full Load + 12GB Rams + 4x GTX285 Classified Full Load = 991w from AC socket
4.0GHz x 2 @ 1.30v w 24 threads Full Load + 12GB Rams + 1x GTX285 Classified Full Load = 766w from AC socket
.
4.0GHz x 2 @ 1.30v w 24 threads Full Load + 12GB Rams + 4x GTX285 Classified Full Load = 1,243w from AC socket
4.2GHz x 2 @ 1.40v w 24 threads Full Load + 12GB Rams + 1x GTX285 Classified Full Load = 913w from AC socket
4.2GHz x 2 @ 1.40v w 24 threads Full Load + 12GB Rams + 4x GTX285 Classified Full Load = 1,390w from AC socket

Any idea what cpu was used ? thx.
MM not a bad board, not bad at all :p:
Okay so my question whether a 1200W PSU would be enough was answered.
Good point :D
SA says GTX480 needs 600w minimum,40 amps on a single rail - might need
2x1200w in future,if it's true of course.

You'll laugh but a name has been one of the things I just haven't figured out yet..
Tossed a lot around..haven't found one that "sings" yet..
The thing is there are two major parts to this:
The board and the cpu's..
Big Blue speaks to the cpu's but forgets the board and can't do that.
maybe ' W555+X5680= if I can get that smiley into the title spot..
Then there is the memory that will be in this.
Right now all I want to say is that it is "OMG uber incredible I'm in shock " memory
One fast comment: We see daily some of the crud of this world but in the past few days I've been speaking
with some of the very good ones.
News, Mountain Mods will have a motherboard tray ready for this on March 19:up:

Is that gonna fit this board?

I guess the question is: Is the w555 the same size as the MBD-X8DAH+-F-O?
Not saying that I'm building anything soon. But I'm just curious.
And just as I received a mb tray from MM they announce this. Would have loved this tray for my new build.
I already have a Pinnacle-18 with an XL-ATX tray, I'll be able to get the new tray and slide it right in. I've been looking forward to this board for a long time, I can't wait.
Movieman, can I come visit this board please? I'm in Manchester. :D
I don't even want to know how much that thing cost!
hmmm... this guy has one with 2 560s and a 280... http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/M...hip_CYO/5.html
:p
seems he's building a rig for this board.

actually i measured. it will fit just fine. only 1.3inches into the rad but theres plenty of room between the mobo and rad for the 24pin and anything else that needs to be there.
and yes.... ram fits too.
