True but these aren't quads, and their 6cores were true 6 cores.

Also this is an ES, so far each time they launched a chip is a proper one. Who knows maybe the 12cores will be a proper one when launched.

I think it's too soon for true 12 core CPUs to be near. On 45nm it's going to be a HUGE die.

MCM would have been cheap but 65nm just sucked anyways.

they're already trying to play that one off, it was harder for amd to do true quad at 65 nm Intel didn't do it because they didn't want to, because they needed more die space of hyper threading so they didn't make one till 45nm.

Intel had a Core 2 Quad with HT? Not that I'm aware of :confused: It doesn't matter if it was Hector or Bill Gates, just the fact that AMD was loud is enough for the Intel gang.

Ah well, I don't care if it's MCM or a True. I care about performance and so do many.

If it performs and has a good price I'll buy it. Specially looking at it's clocking potential so far, it seems that buy some cheap 1.7Ghz chips might pay off well.

That's why they decided to put 2 Dice on a package and no memory controller is unused so this CPU has 2x2 Chans...

no they needed a bigger die for what they wanted so they waited to get good 45nm or else they would have done a 65nm monolithic quad core.

amd bulldozer core is suppose be 32nm new core design.

No, Intel did it because they could, AMD couldn't put 2 dice on a package, that would really suck.
You remember the cheapest S940 Dual Opteron Boards where only one CPU had direct acces to the memory?!

And someone did Dual Single Core Opteron vs single dual core Opteron, the single dualcore was almost everywhere faster.

You sure? I would like to see that but I've not seen that on roadmaps and I don't know if they have the resources to dedicate to it. Would be nice to see 3Ghz quad's @ 45W though lol.
