yea, after i draw in the channel as a new component i project the channel as a sketch and extrude it to fill the channel.
from a profile the oring is more of a filleted rectangle, i add the oring just for visual appeal.
hope that helps, thats probably the easiest way to do it in inventor. i havent used solidworks for anything serious for a good while so i couldnt tell you how to do it there.

I know what you mean Metric. I was messing with different materials, lighting and camera positions to see what effects they had, but couldn't get the effect I was after. Gave up in the end and just posted the best of a bad bunch...:rolleyes:

Maybe I can help you with this problem. It'll take a slight alteration of the design but it should work just as well. Instead of a solid copper base, make it Delrin and just use the copper where it's needed (like Bei's and NeaKuh's 2-in-1 MOSFET).
Also, are those screw holes counterbored? If so, the sharp corners made by the tools will be the first place cracks occur in the tops. The longevity of the tops would be greatly improved if the screws were flat heads (82° chamfer) or low profile/button heads left above the surface.
i was gonna have bei make me something simular.
problem is the cost of materials, also the sourcing of oring.

Also the SB wont clear the 2 caps. :rofl:
everyone forgets about those 2 caps because bei hide them very well.
Thanks for the suggestions Waterlogged! I agree that it would be possible to modify this design to reduce the amount of copper required, but it would be nice if it was all copper. Yes? I also agree that if the top was acrylic, it would probably be a good idea not to counterbore the screws. This wouldn't be such a problem if the top was made from Delrin though.

The O ring is not that much of a problem. It is possible to get O ring kits that allow you to make an O ring of any size that you require. I have also taken the capacitors into account with my design by cutting two recesses into the copper....

The bridge was too costly in materials, and also the time required.
i would love to see a block like that tho. Dont get me wrong.
But a master builder like bei laughing, was definitely not a good sign.
also you need a higher jump from mosfet to other mosfet. Theres a load of caps from one mosfet to another.
Definitely not saying your design is horrible, as i said i would love to see a working final product, but it was just too difficult to make.
Totally agree NaeKuh. This block, or something similar, would be fantastic if time and expense wasn't an issue. It is good fun, however, to be able to ' visually' create your ideas and dreams with rendering software, rather than just imagining them. I hope it also gives pleasure to others to be able to see these ideas....:D

Well possition the threads so the rotary hard pipes would allign and so you can drop on add a hard pipe. Does this make sense? I would love to see a render of how one would look with bitspower hard piping.
basically the blocks would need to be setup first.
then you would need to messure the length of the hard pipe with rotary.
Tap holes on the top of the blocks where the rotary would screw onto.
You got hard piping via rotary now :up:

I've actually had quite a few requests to do a single slot GPU-only block but the profit/work ratio is screwed on that one. I'm not all about profit but I am not interested in working for minimum wage either.
The other major problem is cooling the two ram chips hidden under the block... there's a couple solutions but none are what I would call elelgant.
