i could never get my E6700 to go over 400 FSB (at any multi) without raising the Vcore to ridculous level...i am talking 1.65v and above...max FSB was 404!
i switch the E6700 to my P5B Dlx...i can now push it to about 460 FSB at the lower multi's...could not even get close with that FSB on the Pro...go figure!:)
that's the difference between chipsets. generally the 965 chipset is going to hit much higher FSB's. C2 rev. supposedly hits 600+FSB.
ah, but that is not the case for most owners of the Pro board...i've seen a good FSB for them with all ranges of C2D cpu's

BUT...now that we are talking about the HS possibly touching coils, are you worried about grounding the coil or something else?
nah you wont ground out the coil you'll just smash it or bend it over.
its the same way with the DS3 and an XP-90/120 it sits right on some cap's and you dont even know it unless your looking for it.
There was no backplate for this cooler :o:
are you still using the Scythe Infinity with the stock clips? i had to take the motherboard out of the case in order to get the cooler to mount properly. and then i found it was still resting on the caps.Quote:

EDIT: Holy crap you've got a Scythe Infinity!! You should be able to run at almost 4Ghz with that sucker. Feed it more vCore :D

after reading it, i will NOT buy the Scythe 1000...not worth paying $60+ for a HS that needs that manipulation to make it fit correctly!

You don't have to take the backing off the foam if it's a temporary build or you plan on using it on a different mobo later. I think there's even a blurb in the instructions about it. I used the BT while I was waiting on my WC parts and just didn't stick the foam on the mobo side so I could remove it when I was ready.Quote:
