gar...my gpu cant get any work...this isnt good i dont like it sitting there doing nothing :(
The reason his smp clients weren't working was that he didn't have a password on his windows account ( should be fixed now ), idk about the gpu problems?
Wow looking at the chart, my 1k looks sooooooooooooooooooo low..... :(
Where teh hell is me GPU server? RAAAAAAR. Now I know why I use UDmon. Didn't use it for a while... but I will again.
Which models where that RR? The same Sparky got with ddr2 memory? I was so confused by his report, his card had the same number of sp's and memory bus width, the only diffrence was the ram type.
My new K9A2 platinum should be coming Friday - they picked up the dead board today. Only problem is I'm on holiday then (yeh yeh I take loads of holidays :p:)
So my 4 GPU rig will be back up next week hopefully.
On a side note, just a quick question concerning the SMP client. When I was running it along side the GPU clients it was only getting ~500PPD @ 3GHz (44% load on GPU clients) but it was gimping the hell out of my GPU clients (reducing PPD on each card by 1,000). So I may undervolt and underclock my 4450 and focus on the GPU clients.
Anyone else experience the SMP clients interfering?
Os? Vista is just takes 3% to 7%, not enough to really hurt the smp client.
Your 500ppd sound more like an uniprocessor ppd not SMP, I'm getting about 2K from my q6600 at the same speed depending on project.
Personally, with a 4 card amd set up (mine is nearly identical to yours), I'd forget about the SMP client. my 5400+ @ stock (2.8ghz) is running at 33% load constantly due to 3 cards folding. I could see probably 40%-44% cpu usage with a 4th card. You're gonna take a hit since the cpu is slightly burdened by the GPU folding.
Let us know what your cpu usage is once you get the rig running.
I have 2 9800 GX2s running in Vista and one Linux SMP in Vmware Workstation. It works a treat. :D No slowdowns on the gpu2s.
For the first time since 22:00 last night all my clients have work. :p: That will probably only last another 18 minutes though. :shakes:
Yet another penalty for WFO...You may just get kicked off the team for so many penalties. This last one is for no particular reason whatsoever (the worst kind)
this last penalty is called the "shaken, not stirred" penalty.
I just went thru and forced all mine to get new wu's with kill/restarts until it snuck in and grabbed a connection... sad part is it picked up a 5506 and eue'd like a crack whore. I've force fed that card 2 wu's in the past hr and it's eue'd on 2 5506's (40% and 4%), it's on it's 3rd now.
Shaken not stirred...
crack whore ...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
You guys are the breast...:ROTF:
i just might have to take you up on that offer dak, me and marvin got my smp problem worked out earlier, i was trying to help him test the code he came up with, in the end he was walking me through step by step on how to set it up :D
it was pretty funny actualy, he said his dinner would be ready in 30 min so i told him that good, it will probably take us 25 to get in set up, he said no it should only be 5 min....
... 1 hour later :) he had finaly figured it out, i had no pw set on my user account for loging into xp :D
Yes the DDR2 ones they have the same amount shaders. These http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121255
How about a little help with my 8600gt and its instant EUEing. UNSTABLE_MACHINE every time no matter what I try.
It may be as simple as core 1.15.

Uh oh guys. I just shot myself and our team in the foot. I was messing around in AMIBCP and tried to unlock a few settings of my L1N64 BIOS. I flashed it and now it hangs on post. Whoops. Sorry, looks like I'll be running on only one system for this race. :(
I just got a 9600GSO for my dad's computer (convinced him to buy it), but the damn thing is an OEM and I have to take it to their shop and have them put it in so I don't lose the warranty... and the problem is... their work schedule conflicts with mine.
On the other hand... I think I'll go nuts around Christmas and move over to an AMD platform... with 4 PCI-e slots. :D An overclocked Tri-core or Phenom shouldn't be much slower than my E2160@3,2GHz, right?
rofl. if you turn foxtrot's chart on it's side, it looks like a hand shooting the finger, with wfo as the middle finger :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
obviously the gpu server is affecting everyone. report it http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5977
SQEEEEK THAT WHEEL! it needs grease!
That's priceless
that's awesome gallardo.. right on the money...
Team only got 799.920 yesterday. Time to storm the server...:ROTF:
DAK just notified me Willmaker has joined Team Whiskey..
I have added him to the spreadsheet and scorecard, his cumulative weekly points will be added to tomorrow's xsr and scorecard upload.
The force is strong with Team Whiskey...OP Updated...Rules updated:up:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=201988
LOL! I like the new rules. What kinda machines is he running anyways?
WFO runs illegal machines, stolen parts, hacked O/S's, and uses an extension cord from his neighbors house to power his farm...:rofl::rofl:
Rise it's in the stickies, Rip wrote a guide for it.
It's btw against Stanford rules, but then again, they should take better care of our hw by supplying us with enough wu's on a steady base. Udmon 'hacks' queue.dat, and can make your client dl a few wu's at a time so if the servers go down like they tend to do, you got a buffer of units to crunch.
The downside is, for the science it's not good. The return time for wu's is what's important, and caching means slower return times. Want points? Udmon is a choiche. Want to follow the rules and do the best for science, don't. Same as dual smp's or single smp's not counting oc's. When I where able to clock 600mhz higher I would run dual smp's but at current clocks, yes I would get more points but my turnaround time would drop 20%.
*Edit.. wait... it is the same picture :so I removed it... thought Mike just posted a random supercomputer but he did use the real deal already  Sorry Mike

I only wish my farm looked like that. :yepp: Gawd from 14:30 yesterday till 20:00 I was continuously stopping and restarting clients trying to avoid downtime. I couldn't keep up. I went to bed with 5 clients idle and woke up with 8. :(
The new rules are well... interesting Dak.
Edit: This afternoon I think I'm going to put Vista on the other 2 X 9800GX2 machine just so I can run another SMP and make up for some of the lost points due to server issues.
i think the new rules are just fine, put in place to keep the teams somewhat even :D
You know WFO you are in Stanford's area of the country maybe you should pay PG a visit and help correct their server problem maybe a slight attitude adjustment might be in order their NV gpu2 assignment servers have went from bad to worse. I would suggest a base ball bat for the attitude adjustment tool maybe if you took out a couple of their crap servers they would be forced to upgrade to ones that could handle the load.
lol.. maybe he could run around the server room yelling --> "FIRE! http://smiliesftw.com/x/aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.gif FIRE!"
Guys please, enough with the remarks about 'mental problems' when refering to the PG or refering to using baseball bats.
The first is insultive towards people who I will bet my life on have more 'mental capacity' then op, the second is just bad taste.
In serieusness, it's not funny at all
Naw not "Fire! :cheer2: Fire!"
More like "Danger! :cheer2: Danger! Will Robinson
Marvin the baseball bats were for use on the antiquate defective server not for PG group to help facilitate a server upgrade to fix the problem If the said server was in a pile of broken bits then they would have to upgrade and with any luck the upgraded server would be better than the current POS.
Shadow, go read some of the other threads. This bashing is getting to me, I'm about to call it quits again.
I am sorry Marvin I was just trying to blow off some steam caused by the frustration of not being able to get wu's for my gpu2 client which has been a recurring problem which has been getting worse over the last few weeks. The bashing was just meant as a release valve for the stress I myself and others have been facing with this latest gpu2 server problem.
I say let people vent and find humor in a situation they have no control over... It's better than just giving up and quitting... We all know PG is trying to fix the issue, let's not squelch user's ability to vent with humor too... everyone has the right to an opinion and to deal with it in there own way without someone coming in and saying they can't joke around to relieve the stress. at least if we're joking around about it, that means no one has gotten po'ed enough to just stop folding and leave the project because the gpu server is having issues.
When I went to sleep I had no GPU2s, same thing when I woke up. :shakes: Maybe they should move the coffee pot, snack machines, coke machines and such and put them in there where the servers are...
Edit: @ Mike and people will get p/o ed sometimes and quit...
That was the mood I was in last night after spending 6 hours stopping and restarting clients to keep them loaded. :rolleyes:It paid off with an extra 6 K points.
Persoanlly I think all the jokes about the servers are hysterical.:rofl::rofl::rofl: And they've put me in a much better mood this morning.
I got tired of force feeding mine too this morning wfo... and just left them running... good news is 3 out of 4 are working on wu's now 4hrs later.. 1 is still waiting.
And furthermore to this.... If you actually thought about this for a second WE ARE DOING MORE science and work for Pande while his dayum servers are offline, if implemented with UDmon.
So yes. In some circumstance, such as a GPU server outage it IS better for science. The insinuation that I or others by merely using UDmon as not "follow the rules" annoys me. And this is not the first time we spoke about UDmon.
Whats this about your turnaround drops with SMP? Is this with Dual SMP? as in longer WU completetion time for each?
Stuff it. The WU gets done in good time. I expect that the WU's done on this team are a good margin faster than what WU's get done on the rest of the teams.
Yea stuff it, I can do 2 SMPs on my OC quad quicker than windows can do one. Since the majority of WUs are done on windows and stock machines they are getting twice the work from each of quads...
i believe that i think i might have finally figured out all my problems, now i cant wait to go home and test all this new found knowledge to see if i can finally get all my comps up and folding. i just wanted to say thanks to Marvin for all his patience in addressing my questions... believe me , i had more than a few... so im still hoping that if they got the wu for me to fold with, by this time tomorrow i should be pumping out about 30kppd :)
for anyone confused by the dual smp discussion..... it's pretty easy to put some numbers on it.
We'll use my setup as an example to demonstrate:
I have 3 Q6600's@3.33ghz all Vista 64 running dual smp's and 8800gt's...
using an example of a smp wu 2665: (preferred deadline=144hrs)
-with dual smp's those 3 Q6600's can turn and burn 6 wu's every 30hrs.
-with single smp's they turn and burn 3 wu's every 20hrs...
what this means is:
-a dual smp setup nets me .2 wu/hr
-a single smp setup nets me .15 wu/hr
which of those rates benefits science more?
more wu's per hour OR less wu's per hr?
it's a pretty easy logical mathematical equation... the more efficient model wins (more wu's per hour).
intel quad = dual smp
(of course, unless you're in xp running gpu's, then the gpu core starts stealing cores from smp)...
(in Vista, the gpu doesn't steal an entire core, so I can also run a gpu client with dual smp's on my Vista intel quads)...
Here is a 2665 that just started on a quad @ 3.2Ghz running 2 SMPs at the same time in Ubuntu. So that would be 2 WUs in 22 hrs from this one machine, how long does windows take to do 1-2665? Also included are benchmarks for 2665. All are Linux but one rig is server 2008 in red at 3.44Ghz...

RR, my vista64 Q6600's take 30hrs per 2665wu at 3.33ghz. dual smp's. but that's also running a gpu client on each.
yeah, linux kicks the snot out of windows in smp. how those a2 core wu's.. then it really kicks the LIVING snot out of windows. no a2 for windows yet. but I'm ok with windows vista for my gpu's. 2 of my Q6600's are user pc's anyway, and they need vista media center..
With Stanford being the way they have in the last year I dont see how we can have a decent contest or race, maybe we should be crunching something more reliable?
all those penalties that WFO collected these past few days is what did it..
Front Door PC, now i've seen everything  I'm gonna setup a cruncher outside and let strangers use it :ROTF:
Sorry Marvin but it was funny, and the fact that someone is taking it seriously is making it even funnier  Please don't hurt me *gets flame shield* :sofa:
No :banana::banana::banana:! Dak snuck in and unplugged almost all my rigs. I only had 4 gpu clients running when I got home. :shakes: Fortunately on restart they all got work. One did an EUE suicide run but it's folding now.
It's nice having some folding vets around that know Stanford's weaknesses and that don't need hand holding. Soldier on guys. I'm hoping my production still looks like a middle finger tomorrow but I'm having serious doubts. :(
I have a Silencer 750 powering 2 9800 GX2s in one rig and it's making a high pitched whining noise. I don't think it's happy. The fan is on 24/7 trying to keep it cool.
OK, someone rush a Vacum Tube tester to PG quick....
I hear ya buddy, too much maintenance. Doesn't PG realize we have a Halloween Race going? Geeeeeeez
got my first eue today, it sucks my other gso is crunching away, but one on an eue fit. is there any way to just restart the card that is not folding? if not, how do i restart both gpu clinets with out loosing my work?
FALLOUT 3!!@!!@#$J#~
no it's not off topic. In fact, it's very very relevant. Relevant to the # of PPD I'll be out putting in a given day until I beat this game
Well my production today is gonna suck thanks to the wonderful 5801 units debacle  :(
WFO/ knocks on wood. Things seem to have stabilized. All my clients have been running well for about 4 hours. :) Daks penalty assessments are killing me. Only 62K today. :(
The team is down about 200K.
Yea mine seem to be going good now also, its about bed time for me so we will see tomorrow...
Ok it doesn't hack the queu.dat files it creates many 'ghost' clients... Same thing
Want to get linked to where PG says caching of wu's is against policicy and why? You know damn well what it says. So 'Stuff it' yourself :)
As to the rest, read this..
I don't care if I anoy you, if you think I'm breaking rules, fine do as you did before and delete my posts and ask for me to be banned, if I don't break any rules, you could just as well keep your comments for yourself as they have no influence on me whatsoever.Quote:

I think you're out of line Riptide.

I can go on, but do I really have to? It's not about wu's per hour, it's about turnaround time per wu.
Still remember I got no problem with dual smp per se if their clocked high enough, and I take everyone here clocks his higher then I can so for XS it might be a mute issue. That still doesn't mean there is no point in repeating what I been repeating, as it is the policy of this project.
Maybe I was to affected, especially when people start to come back and say how they ment it.
I have to say that Mike did a good job at that, I probably didn't look at the aspect of blowing of steam ( or I just didn't feel that what was said could fell under blowing of steam, still not sure ).
Anyway I'm just as pissed as you guys are, maybe less since I only have one idle card when there are problems and most off you have allot more hw invested in the project, I just don't need to blow steam at the PG ( anymore.. ) if they mess something up, atleast I hope not in a way someone else could see as demeaning/insultive.
I apologise for non contributing to the XS F@H team yesterday but it was National Holliday here = Another Work Day just from home and the clients running in the backround were bugging me off and afterwards a good 6 hour Dead Space streak [ yes ... Pooped my pants a couple of times ] didn't allow me to do even a single PPD :hehe:
Finally, production back to norm...No more 5801's. Things are running well.
Tbh, this is the one that got to me..
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...8&postcount=86
Sorry to answer your posts in the wrong order, should have started with this one and ended with the one I replied to above. Or I should have spend a whole lot of time cutting and pasting to get it into one post, but then again that doesn't seem to be required anyway :) But, I repleid to everything, and the above link isn't ment to spur new discussion or repleis, just clarification. I didn't think about Mike needing to blow of steam to stay interested and motivated, that's a misjudgement on my part and I apologized for not understanding it. Like he said, it was ment to cause a laugh, and if you can't laugh about it you should ignore it.
Thing is, it was on the border of being just insultive and demeaning with not much there to laugh about IMO and just so you know, I'm not totally alone in the notion the PG deserves respect in the first place.
Case closed yes?
Being that everything is working again & stabilized, Penalties for WFO are back in force...
Thanks Mike
And yeah where is our update :cord:
Penalty WFO...
Whiskey we need to step it up... Dak1640 fair playing time is over just deflate those tires and press the button... don't look at me, I got a vw beetle, not a dragracer like you
Kondik stop turning that rig off at night, I'll buy you some earplugs
skycrane I hope those deino's are all up and running now
Anyone else with troubles with clients, I don't mind some personal 'coaching' to get them in order ( no I can't fix your eue's, whish I could, but if you got a setup problem I'm always willing to help )
Don't think I can contribute more ppd atm with my hw untill eue rate goes down, but I will do my best as always to get your output at maximum :cord:
You're right Marvin, we need to step it up...If the farm stays green My max daily could be 87K ppd...My son often takes a compy somewhere, my rig at work gets beat, and my office Rig gets abused by the family... I need to move my Farm to a safe haven...Anyway, I should be able to maintain approx 70K per day. Thanks for offering to help other Whiskey members. Let me suggest you help WFO "tweak" his farm...like down to 10K ppd.
Lol you know that installer I am working on, it has this nice coded in feature like this
;)Code:If UserName = "WFO" and TeamNumber = "36362" then UserName = "Marvin_The_Martian"
Installer approved & pure genius...Let me suggest that get distributed to all FoxTwat members with a slight mod to move their output over to Whiskey:up:
Morning output as far as my screen can stretch...I really need a bigger screen, anyone wish to donate?
just added gallardo's official team chart graphics..
Dak I'm not even listed :eek2:
Need moar folding hw, MOAR
This race is expensive...I just bought a GSO off of Ebay for $63.99 + free ship...
Christmas and 'Sinterklaas' ( dutch holiday ) are coming, expensive months ahead and I haven't even told the missus yet I'm getting some more toys... I'm cutting back on smoking to make up for it
lol Rise.. I got screwd too.. 3 machine supdated and rebooted last night at 3AM. luckily I'm an early bird and caught it at a little after 4am..
I still refuse to manually update... I'd rather wakeup to find it done than sit and watch it happen on 4 pc's manually.
I have auto update on, but it needs to ask me which updates I want to install. Still I had bad drivers slip through, but I need the updates to keep this windoze from being to leaky  So next time, I just got to pay more attention!
