No, got sidetracked with a phone call.
All 9 shots sent you bastage!

Hmm--how expensive would a setup be now-a-days? With an ATX board--I can't use eATX.
Guys since the Iwill DH800 uses the same ICS
has anyone tried clockgen ?
In seven different languages, probably. These boards are exceptionally resistant to overclocking by any means.
Since every ones going to figure out what I have been upto, I will post in the open.
Past couple of days, I have been working extremly hard trying to edit / unhide options in the intel based BIOS.
But i have not had any luck.
- Below I will give you the reasoning
Please see screen shot
This is visiable to us guys,
http://www.ibby.co.uk/xs/amibcp.JPG
As you can see it has fields pre filled in, some are user selected others are "refresh only"
the ones I was intrested in were
"FSB" "Freqancy"
http://www.ibby.co.uk/xs/offset.JPG
After days atlooking at the code, I managed to figure out how to change the headings, but was unable to change the field we most needed (Access / Use)
More hunting, and looking at the code and comparing code whilst i was changing settings, made me belive and has been confimed by another source that if the settings are not in AMIBCP, then you can not change or edit any settings. - Becuase the orginal coder has not put the options in.
(well you cant access them with a high level encoder)
And most people will ask the question, why not put the settings in.
Well in plain terms the settings can just not be put in. they have to be coded to the chipset/ics cpu and other resources.
The BIOS nowadays are coded diffrently with a higher based software encoder, which is not avalible to us.
Iam not giving up, but iam sorry for letting the team down.
I think for any part
(injecting the microcode into the BIOS is probably going to be the easy bit)
However ...... does the Aopen board meet the regulations of PMW?
The issues here I belive is, we need to make the board belive ... that its a 200FSB processor.
without having a board here (Dave) I have afew ideas
I see!
FANTASTIC!
unplug the cord ...and get your number changed now :sonic:
OK, so we've brought in ibby who is good with BIOS's but is running into issues here so i sent a PM to a gentleman who has offerred to help.
I don't want to see him get a 100 PM's from the guys on this so I'm not naming him but it's fair to say that he is one of the best people in our hobby.
IE: If he can't figure this out no one can..;)
Anyone got the Intel white papers on this motherboard?
I had them at one time but they are gone.
Alos any board documentation or links to any of this.
Thanks!
I just saw a SE7520BB2 board for $19!
2GB RAM for $37!
Now to find CPUs and heatsinks! Unless I can rig up a way to stick two old AXP heatsinks on there
I'm tempted, if you couldn't tell :p: I would think that one of these would easily outdo a couple AXPs and an A64 or two?
Boards at Citrix correct? I just bought 3 last week.
and you need the special HS.. Only place in the world that has them is 19 miles from my house..They charge $25.00 to ship two of them and $20 for the two HS=$45.00/pair
I'm making a trip there in the next week to get more as that way no shipping charge to me and maybe $10.00 to ship to you not $25.00
Yep that's where the board is.
No way to stuff a different heatsink on there huh? Dang, oh well :lol2:
Board and RAM look good and cheap, and the heatsinks (through you if you don't mind) and I have an HD (IDE but it works) and a PSU. Biggest cost is CPUs it looks like, haven't been able to find much.
THE case to put a sammy in is a Lian Li PC62..
Classey, and not bad in price..
It's the EATX version of the PC60:
$100.00
http://www.coolerguys.com/840556007340.html
Old tech now and why it's so cheap..
2-80's front, one rear.. Not enough for todays hot systems but plenty for sammy
If I went with the 1.67 GHz sossamans I could do the BSEL mod to 2.67GHz - if the chips can handle that? I don't know
Found them here for $45 each but they are in Canada so I can imagine what shipping would be. Not sure if that is $45 CAD or USD.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=110328758720
He's on the forum under the same name..
$67.00/pair delivered..
PM him and bypass ebay fees for him..
I bought a pair from him.. good seller
He's got more on ebay but at a higher pricepoint now $60 for one + shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/Xeon-Low-Voltage...QQcmdZViewItem
Yep, I know. I have to pass up deals right now tho. Lack of the job dictates my spending habits right now, plus I have a car repair bill coming that I shouldn't have had but the "warranty terms" say they only pay 7 hours worth of work on the motor replacement. Total bull, it takes like twice that amount of time to do it properly  last time I'm every buying anything from those guys
Oh yeeees these are back with 19$ price :)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Dual-Xeon-...QQcmdZViewItem
BTW If someone knows where to get sammys tell me :P
If i could get 1-2 pairs we could try the legendary turbopll mod with one of these :hrhr:
:hehe:
Found 2.167GHz sammys, pricy tho :ROTF:
http://www.upgradebay.com/c1_itemdet...emid=168756281
Who here would like to see a Sammy running a little faster?
say 20% faster..:wasntme:
id like to see it boss..
is there any reliable provider for cpus?? I might consider getting a sossaman rig ( as long as they are affordable as seen on ebay links). Im affraid I wont be able to pay $392 per cpu as in solidīs link :P
tell me please if you are aware of any bargains
According to one of the worlds best modders if you do this you get a 2400/2mb/800 sammy( if your using the 2000's)
Will the chipset be able to handle 800FSB ?
theoretically yes ... but in reality ?
Maybe ask Tiro , he'll be interested ;)
I have not read the whole thread so forgive me if this has been asked. How would it compare to an oc'ed Q6600@3.4-3.6? If it is close to the same I may have to find up the parts.
You sort of have to read thru and learn about "Sammy"
He has talents well beyond computational power but to answer your question a 2000mhz Sossaman setup is app 50% in terms of daily output in WCG vs a Q6600 at 3600mhz..
BUT:
Costs app $170.00 for board,2 cpu's,2 gig of memory and the special heatsinks..
Draws app 110w at 110% load and gives off essentially no heat..
Cpu's run at 34C at 100% load on air..
Oh, and the Board we use orginally was a $430.00 Intel EATX server board that we now buy for $30.00 delivered in the USA..
Stable as anything you ever saw..
I'm willing to try, on one condition: someone hook me up with some cheap sammys - MM what happened to that USA fellow on ebay who was trying to flog numerous sammys of for approx USD$40 iirc?
If I can get a couple 2Ghz sammies for under AUD$75 each, I'll be the guinea pig (if no one else is game)
I also need to get another board
Hey tiro, I haven't found your thread again, did that PCI slot you put on that board actually function?
Boards aren't an issue..I have 3 here now..
cpu's: I just 10 mins ago left thr guy a message asking about cpu's.. I got two from him for $67.95 shipped to me..
Thats $67.95 for TWO not each!
Now get out your solder gun and tell me if this mod works will you or do I have to show you up and be the first one?
OK, time for bed for me.
I am tempted to build one of these rigs. If nothing else to have a dual cpu setup. I just need to find the parts up.
dave it is very tempting.. once I build my pending rigs I am gonna check my wallet to see if I can build one of these..
Bought some silver solder ..:wasntme:
I surely hope that means something different there than it does here!
"Silver solder" here is one step below brazing on the temperature scale and requires the use of an oxy torch!
Now i have read this thread a bit now- so I apologize if I ask something that has most likely been asked. But basically these Sossaman rigs are very basic machines with pretty good cpus- in a sense are these diskless? or are they run on linux to keep the cost down?
Of course, with questions like these maybe I shouldn't ask but, I would love to put a few together to crunch away. Though if I have some of this correctly some of the parts are hard to come by in the US.
Observing also that folding crunching data is in some aspects a small financial commitment-using the system but drawing more power than usual. Though maybe I am mistaken- am I confusing this for a small size folding farm
Where is the time Dave was afraid of water
Now he's showing us how to voltmod the Sammy
"the patient is making great progress" is what Dr Sig would say
We should talk, too much to explain here.. PM me.
Resistor is off, just made up the jumper to go to ground.
Damn is this fine work and yes, I have very steady hands and working under 15X magnification..
I can read the numbers on the resistor..
Point, but this takes my mind off of the waiting.
I've learned a lot at this place from some very talented people.. Time to see if I can put some of it to work.
Be back, time to finish and then build and see if it works..
Anywhere I can find a list of the various sSpecs on these chips? I've had lots of 771 LV/ULV chips pass through my hands but usually don't deal with this socket.
@Dave: If you know of a few sSpecs (ES or release) I can try to locate some CPUs if people in this thread are interested :)
You mean this:
Attachment 95871
(source)
I fear they may never have survived the birthing process. :shakes:
It did exist, that company that made the box with 4 blades in it used the 2300's in their systems.
I know, I called them in Canada the other day to see if they had any left over..:D
now my night, assembling the "modded" sammy, pull out my PCP+C610 to install my brandy assed new Corsair 400w PSU that comes with a 24 pin and 8 pin and guess what?
It isn't a 8 pin but a double 4 pin and connectors are wrong for the 8 pin on my board..
Even the box shows a 8 pin but not inside..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008
I'd contact the Corsair rep here, sounds like maybe it has the wrong connector on it somehow - 8pin is 8pin I would think, so that 8 pin probably wouldn't work on any board that requires it.
But ... how will he know you care?
Had enough for one night..1:23am here..I think this board may be considered a $30.00 contribution to science and learning..
I'll screw around with it some more tomorrow and if no luck pop the orginal board back in..
Crap... try resoldering the resistor in its place and see if it fires back up?
omg.. this is the longest thread eVer. Well not the longest-but the coolest, most intriguing and most likely in the end result for a good cause! Had some work stuff to do and went to class late and am still reading through this whole thing- it's not like someone can quickly scroll through this, would probably miss something.
Dave I want to know what your end result with that PSU- they like a good price for product and I am getting a list together- I bid on 2 chips last night before I hit the sack. Not the best price but still OK probably gonna pick up a few boards also. "Ideally" I want to get 2 or 3 of these things running by May; they seem perfect!!
I need to go through this thread more and pull out all the necessary guts
I have one more thing to try..
going to bring this wire to 3.3v and see what happens.
Here we go guys I bid on 2 of them on ebay-so play nice; and ordered the board!! lookin forward to this. This is the right memory(how many do i need)-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134272
Does anyone know a case a little cheaper than a 100-I know you use the Lian Li62 Dave. time to get some heatsinks
That's the right memory.. Goes in the #2 and 4 dimms from the top when the board is in a case..
I remember that the egg had a EATX case for like $55.00..
Go to wamps here, thread stickied about Youngpro by me and a link is there for the case..
mike047 might have made the orginal comment on the case.
Chieftec has some midtowers that are E-ATX ready.
http://www.alternate.be/html/shop/pr...ower&#Chieftec
So I basically can put 8gb in this thing-from what I read in this over-stuffed-with-info thread is the memory slots do not take 2gb sticks? These boards and cpus can up to 16gb, so I read?
16GB on an x86 platform - how can you use that much ram w/o 64Bit capabilities? I don't get it.
anyone here bidding on these?
Don't want to jump in if you guys are..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120385482302
This isn't done yet? :shakes: what ya doing movieman milking cows? :D
I'll tell ya I spent a good bit of last night and half of today searching online & reading through threads for just a small bite. Nothing and then I finally found those 2- thats why I broke down and bought 2 of those 1667's, 2 boards and a bunch of memory. that site actually has the SL8WT for sale@ $149- which is slightly up there considering the concept of this rig
http://www.itxchange.com/itxchange/p...UrlSrc=Website
I searched forever- got alot of the Asian eBay/yahoo sites but nothing. now I just need to wait for my parts and keep my fingers crossed for that auction! Thanks for all input from everyone
One thing to always remember is that cpu prices drop like bricks EXCEPT the top one of each platform and that is why there are people asking huge money for a 3 year old cpu such as this.
Now the other side is that when I first started dealing in cpu's in mid 2004 these sold for $2500.00 each on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Xeon-3-0GH...1%7C240%3A1318
Are sossamans 32 bit or 64 bit CPUs?
