ok thats enough off topic for now lol back to the gtz whats the deal!!!! is it any good ? yay or nay?
btw im looking for a upgrade from a apogee gt...
Gabe: Will there be LGA1366 mounting kit for old GTX block?
sigh...
How about a teaser??
Complete this sentency andy
Results so far look __________
Okay.. teaser requirement filled.. I'll just keep waiting now :D
all the gtz are gonna be sold out by the time this gets done. lol :)
come on bro!!!!
plz do...im waitin for this so i can push "order" :D
Just go ahead and buy one.. I did. Whats not to like? I trust what Gabe has said about it, works with 1/2 x 3/4 comp fittings, and its nice looking. The extra testing data is just a bonus and I am excited to see it, but I am more excited to get my gtz and put it in my loop!
Got mine today, probably won't be able to start testing until monday... been at home with a sore back.
hmm ill be getting one of these aswell hope it was worth buying.
I'm curious about temp differences between different block orientations (i.e. clockwise 90deg, 180deg, 270deg), for the sake of better hose routing. I'm guessing only 1~2deg difference, if that??
Anyone looking to buy, PPCs has them for cheapest (right now at least)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24230
Hmm I so want one just because they look so awesome!
Same... if only I could use it, I could justify buying one!
Don't you want a Supreme? [or was it someone else lol]
probably me...
Yeah, I do want an EK. Im keeping my loop CPU only, so I figured the EK would best block for that... But ultimately, I'd probably notice a 1-2C difference, and its hard to fit (more) bling into my student budget :p:
blood for bling? ill consider :)
Gabe,
I did not read all 30 pages of this thread but if it has not already been mentioned please dont forget to get this new design ready for the Bloomfield chipsets (which obviously has wider spacing than socket 775 chipsets). Maybe something like ~85% of all the guys who post here will be ditching their X38/48/780/790 chipsets come around October to December.
Thanks,
Jay
The surface of the WB will cover the core of the Nehalems with room to spare. You don't have to cover the entire IHS just the core but this looks like it willjust about cover all of a Nehalem..Just need a mount plate with different screw mount position to match the Nehalem.
Why do they make the AMD hold down plate so :smileysex:ing ugly
Here is a secret site where a set of comparative results have already been published http://www.swiftech.com/products/apogee-gtz.asp but shhh... don't tell anyone, OK ;)
be
This has been an interesting thread. I agree with Gabe as far as in keeping Martin's, Andyc's and nikhsub1's testing to completely impartial we should donate to their and our cause. What they are doing is very valuable to us. Well I was able to give Martin a small donation. However I was unable to wait for the results so I went ahead and purchased anyhow. BTW I saw the price break at Performance PCS but I purchased from John at Jab-Tech, my favorite "Dealer". So I'm just anxiously waiting confirmation that I made the right decision. Heck it has to be better than the GTX I already have.
But more reviews = the more excited I am about a product. I'm not sure if its the amount of photos of someone else's machine that has a better product installed in it versus mine, or just more internet coverage. One review = i don't buy it. 12 reviews saying "i must have this product" = i've bought the thing with overnight shipping for a ridiculous amount of cash.
EDIT: Just look at my sig as proof.... ;-)
It seems this water block needs to be mounted in specific way (this is from the mounting instructions):
'The waterblock North-South axis should always be perpendicular to the socket locking lever.'
But if you have the motherboard in a BTX type case, 'up-side-down'?
Do you need to mount the water block 'up-side-down' as well?
risk it and buy one =p
@gabe: when the successor MCW60?:D:D:D
i bought it ..i hope its as good as swiftechs benches for the q6600
I just bought one of these from performance-pcs. I should be getting it on or around Monday. With all that we know so far I would say worst case scenario we get a block that performs within 1-2 degrees of the EK and is less restrictive.
Hmm if this baby is also optimised for the new LGA1366 Nehalem cpus, that will be great.
Ordered mine from petras, works out the same for me since I have to pay tax thru performance pcs
ps: I better get a pen! lol
I believe they are out end of next week. They replaced the original MW60 and this is
rev. 2 They are selling soon, as old stock rev. 1 is gone or almost.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=198501
he said they are shipping out now but they are not being sold yet.
Cool, thank you for the testing :)
Nice! But Andy, how can anyone verify accuracy besides you?
Good stuff! Thanks for the testing. Now I will pull up a chair....Where's the popcorn?
ECHO~
ECHO~
ECHO~
meaning i +2
Why would they need to validate anything Andy? You did 5 mounts. Used YOUR bed, and YOUR system.
How could they validate anything without standing over your sholder.
Thats like me asking martin to validate my EK Supreme tests when he hasnt even seen my injectors.
Andy... please, dont sugar coat anything.
Be honest with us.
If you see flaws, then let us know the flaws.
Speak freely.
You teling us you had to validate is not looking good for you right now.
Excuse me, its only a forum, and its only a hobby. I wasn't going to chime in, but please just relax.
This is ONLY A WATER BLOCK. Not war and peace. Not life and death.
No need to fling such negativity.. both directions..
Yes, chill off guys... I think that Andy wished to show the results to make sure it's not too different. I will just shut up and wait till numbers is posted.
Let's all post our W2s online. Forget that.. how about the full 1040, including all schedules ?
How ridiculous does this have to get? Talking about income? How about investable assets and net worth as well ?
Don't think we have those in canada!
But, feel free to give me your online banking information and i'll.. validate it for you!
This is the dumbest statement i've ever seen on this forum. I don't make 6 figures? I guess that further proves i'm not worthy of a GTZ?
My point is, the string on that block must be tight if you need to have them review your findings instead of just letting everyone know. I should just buy one and post an HONEST review myself, but since I don't make 6 figures I guess I can't afford to do so.
Its A F0king $59 Water Block!!! {as per PPCs}
Thank you Ian..
To the others here, who I know and consider friends.
There's been some things said here that shouldn't have been.
Came across even to me who knows you as not exactly friendly.
Shall we say that this was said due to excitement over wanting to see results and bury this?
Some honest advice here:
Never,Never,Never write in anger. I've made that mistake a few times and lived to regret it.
Never let the little things in life such as a hobby get in the way of the more important things such as friendships.
It just isn't worth it and what are we talking about realistically?
If one waterblock runs at 1-2C hotter than another?
In day to day use what damned difference does it make unless your system is at the absolute limits of it's cooling and then realistically you should probably have a bigger radiator or add another or increase the fans cabability to whisk away that heat.
I'm not expert here, far from it, but losing friendships over this is just plain dumb.
Now I'm going to say this and hopefully the people involved don't get their panties in a bunch over it but there's two people here that I beleive owe Andy an apology.
He's too good a guy for the treatment he got here tonight.
Maybe not but I said that to everyone... It's just a waterblock
If gabe know that we want a independent review, he should not have strings attached when sending review samples ;) However, since we don't know what Andy, Martin and Scott agreed with them, we cannot comment about that
I'm not with the norm here, to me 1-2°C isn't enough difference to pull my rig apart and buy a new $70 block. Hell, I am still running an apogee GT with a Dtek FuZion v1 still sitting in the box. Many of the reviews i've seen place the Apogee GT near the performance of the V1 FuZion so it just isn't worth it to me.
I can see Naekuh meeting with his private bankers tomorrow to get a second lien mortgage on his Beverly Hills home to order about 100,000 of those GTZ blocks hahaha
Thanks, that's precisely what I thought about your motives and I would have done the same as courtesy.
Guys, let's think for a second : Everyone know Andy did the testing so if Gabe say the results cannot be posted, everyone will know it's fishy and just with that, Swiftech will lose the sales for sure due to the attempt to witthold the results.
A voice of reason..^^
I have two apogeeGt's on my dual clover.
Dropped the temps on those B1's from high 70's to 51C at load.
That to me is what a WC system should do.
Take unsafe temps and make them into safe ones.
Whether changing to another WB that is oneC cooler or hotter doesn't change this by one iota..
The testing to me is just to see if a certain block performs in the same temp range as the others out there.
If Gabe's unit runs 4-5C higher or lower than the rest THEN there's something to dicuss but not if it's within 1-2C of the rest either way.
From there it's looks and company preferance that decides not 1C of difference in observed temps.
Gabe, I cannot tell you what to do, but if I were you, if RCHN were my company, I wouldn't hand out blocks to anybody anywhere for any reason. You should control info about your own product and ensure the integrity of information. Your product's capabilities should speak for itself, not some third party on some hobbyist forum. Look at the resulting nonsense. Just a kind suggestion, with full respect to you.
Hilarious. Take a step back and see look at the slurs in this thread. It was over reviews being biased first then it progressed on to manipulated test results. I mean com'on =S.
PS : I want a 6 figure salary =( Can I have one please lol
Man I got a full truck load of popcorn out front waiting for results. :yepp:
I have yet to see any proof of any review being biased.
I recently reviewed a motherboard and I sent the review in to that company before posting for two reasons: courtesy and to make sure I didn't have a spec wrong..
No bias at all, just covering my backside to make sure all the facts were right.
Yes, I would also like a 6 figure salary,5 would also work at this stage..:D
