Got it working now =) . It booted up sometimes for some sec and i managed to raise the voltage. And now im back with 0905 =)

With 1101 i can not pass Test #6 (Moving inversions, 32 bit pattern) on Memtest86+ v2.01

Settings: RAM 900 MHz (DDR1800) / CAS : 7-7-7-20 / Dual Channel

Memory: Corsair TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF 2.010v

Works fine on 1007 BIOS

Maybe they fixed the overvoltin @Vmem ... so that u have to raise the Vmem...

Cause I got such error just like descriped when my Vmem was too low.

I dont have voltmeter, i set DRAM volt to 2.00v and get 2.024v-2.040v / DDR VTT 1.08
Maybe i have to low PSU OCZ 520W

This is a lot less than before !!!
Befure Vmem was overvolting about 0,08V.

Now I flashed 1101 myself :
could not realise any change !
My RAM runs like before - no extra-ordinary errors in Memtest ...
but I´ve got the same overvolting-rate on Vmem like before.

And there is still one thing to mention :
Only 0904 / 0905 are showing me the correct CPU-Temp !
1101 is showing me 7°C :(
So I think I will go back to 0905 !

Now im test again BIOS 1101.
im test memory in slott A2 and B2 and no errors yet,

Pass completet, no errors, press Esc to exit

I have always found the white slots (A2 & B2) to alot more stabe then a1/b1 on my board.

As for the 1101 i am going to wait a bit longer, i have had more then enough issue's with this board as it is, 1007 seems to be working well so far.

Damnit, I wish asus will fix the 45nm 450FSB wall. Its holding me back so much, I wish i had a Striker II Extreme or even a Striker II NSE.

45 nm no . It's your cpu or you got a very bad board cause i can go 24/7 stable with 550-560 fsb and that's the cpu stopping. tho i's dual core but i could hit 510 fsb with 1 of mine q6600 without prob.

In the early testing of the 45 nm quads we saw fsb problems.
Many other quads stopps around 450-480 fsb

yeah, i realized that too,so, i put it to manual, 1.375 V. but i can t get it boot stable at 450 FSB. 440 boots, but is not tested yet. Closest i came to,was DDR3 1760MHz. NO DDR3 1800 yet. but the timings work,but anyway, better than DDR3 1333MHz.

Dide, check you PSU - the odds of that actually happening are very low. It ain't no coincedence. I betcha your PSU is under or overvolting badly.

Guys I am new to this thread.

I just built a new system this weekend, and the Maximus was my board of choice, I cant get the thing to boot with 4 stixs of ram, and the thing is changing my ram speeds and CPU speeds without me doing a thing ,everything is set to auto.

When I take out 3 stixs it boots but then freezes during windows loading, it is allso not picking up my ram correcty , it seems to have a mind of its own.

Here are my specs

Asus Maximus Extreme 1007 Bios
Patriot ddr3 ram 1866mhz Viper Series 4 x 1gb sticks total 4gb
Intel Q9450@ stock 2.66ghz

It seems this motherboard is not liking my ram?? argggggggggggg

@ Revhead :
1st: you should fix your values - don´t set them on "auto"
2nd: maybe you should try to set your RAM a level lower -i.e. 1700MHz is no biggie - first
3rd: set your Vnb to 1,65 and give it a try -`cause Crossfire alone needs a higher voltage @ NB & 4 sticks RAM also needs a raised Vnb.
When you get your Sys stable - you can lower your Vnb ( maybe ... allthough I don´t think you can lower much Vnb )

I just got my RMA board from them too and guess what? Same problem that you're having.

I thought that it might be an over volt from the PSU so I threw in my backup board (P5E3 WiFi Deluxe) and everything was perfectly fine. In fact I've booted with the backup board 4 times already and no issues.

Asus better not make me pay shipping again or I'm gonna raise hell!:mad:

Don't run your cpu vcore voltage on auto.It ramps the voltage up on it the faster you go.Maually set your cpu,ram,northbridge voltages and settings etc.

Yeah I have noticed this bad behavior, My Gigabyte DQ6 didnt do this, it would hold default voltages until they were manualy set. I dont know the default voltages to begin with ,I dont have a starting platform so base any manual entries off , this is a shame ,has any one got the stock voltages for most of this stuff? and if some one has the default voltage for a q9450 that would be great.

I do notice there is a vdrop so cpuz tells me something differant to the bios, what should I believe?

Core Temp -> VID

What is this:

I am not shure I went straight to the latest Beta when I built my system last week ,I have a Q9450 and its running fine so far.

I have removed the stock cooling assembly to re-apply the TIM. I used a heat gun to loosen up the super sticky stuff Asus uses. You can find a bit more information on how to take it off in this thread:

Here's the part that has a bit of advice on how to take it off.

Mine was coaxed off successfully.
Try to avoid over heating the mobo if possible. Mabey use a towel as a heat shield for the chips?
The stock goop will be semi-molten when it slides free. It is the ideal time to use some acetone to clean the rest off.

I've run several bios versions since April with the q9450. I have yet to really crank it up b/c my fusion block leaked and I'm planning a replacement. I've been on bios 1101 since mid may. I'm stable but I haven't pushed it yet.

I flashed to 1007 to get my system running. Noticed that it won't let me disable Speed Stepping for some reason. :confused:

Do not remember exactly, but this happened with my Maximus Formula.
I believe it is one of the CPU settings. Not only do you need speed step disabled, but one other.

Actually, we might what to go the other way. Load a V7600 with a HT2900 bios. The V7600 clock and mem can not be tweeked. Maybe with the HT2900 bios the V7600 could be tweaked.

Just a thought.

Any one using a Q9450 and getting some good results? , would you mind posting your Settings ,I am having a really tough time with mine, I cant get it stable past 375 fsb, and 400 fsb 400 strap is BSOD central.

What the performance using 4x2gb modules on this board. I'm thinking of picking up another 4gb of the Patriot DDR3-1333 cas 7 since it's come down so much. Any issues other than oc headroom?

The Rampage Extreme is finally being reviewed. I am interested to see if the Rampage Extreme bios can be flashed to Maximus Extreme (I flashed my P5E to the Rampage Formula with ease). The question is, how different of an animal is the new board?

I guess this board is dead in the water, there isnt really any riveting posts or input in here of late, and as for q9450 input its basically non existant.

Just give it some more time. Hopefully the Rampage Extreme bios will be cross flashable, and we can get more out out of the board (more then likely in the ram department).

Could anybody please help me with this issue:

my maximus extreme (bios 1007) doesn't show the supreme FX II (stock) soundcard. Vista lets me only choose the HDMI audio from my VGA card (HD3650).

How can I fix this? I want sound! :(

simri have you recieved any good results yet with a crossflash on this board? I am have to move heaven and earth to get any form of OC with my q9450

Anyone using the EK 3a mosfet blocks on this mobo? coz mine didn't come with the O spacers, i'm using EK barbs with the recesed O ring and i do have the spacers to hand if you think i shouls use them?

Check and see if the BIOs has the High Definition Audio Enabled.
In the BIOs I believe it is the Advanced, OnBoard Devices Configuration.

Well just got my 3rd mobo from RMA.
Powered it up and one long and 3 short beeps (VGA).
Well maybe my FireGL V7600 finally bit the bullet.
Put in my 9800GX2 and same thing.
WTF! :mad:

So then put the FireGL V7600 in the second slot, fired right up.
Now I have to send this thing back for the 4th time.

ASUS Tech support was willing to send me another refurbished board.
So I told them that I was tired of getting reworked boards and could I get a new one?
Well of course, the tech could not authorize that, so I had to wait for a supervisor.
Well, I did have to wait a while, but they are Cross Shipping me a NEW board. :up:

Guess it just proves that if you want something ask for it.

Now we will see what I really get. :rolleyes:

Anyone using the EK 3a mosfet blocks on this mobo? coz mine didn't come with the O spacers, i'm using EK barbs with the recesed O ring and i do have the spacers to hand if you think i shouls use them?

MIne did not come with the green O's either but I am using the EK backplates anyway so I did not need them.

No the O spacers for the barbs? My Striker Extreme mosfet blocks came with them?

what are your opinion on the latest bios version of the maximus formula.
they are:

1. 1102 2008/05/15 update
OS DOS / All OS
Description Maximus Formula 1102 Bios
Fixed it can not enter the setup of some PCI-Express SATAII RAID Card

or the

2. Beta Version 1201 2008/05/04 update
OS DOS / All OS
Description Maximus Formula 1201 Bios
Improve Memory compatibility

at the moment i use 1004 and it's stable on 3.6 with my Q6600 and my OCZ PLATINUM REV 2.

For me 1101 is the best bios and most stable running my e8500 in 540 fsb 24/7 and it's my cpu that's stopping me from going further.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a good low profile fan/heatsink for the ME Southbridge chip? I would like to cool it a bit better than putting ramsinks on it. (My fusion block is removed).

I don't know that it is a mistake to get this board. Perhaps this board and this CPU combo is a bit limiting for OC'ing. I have a similar setup. I've been prevented from OC'ing my setup due to northbridge cooler leaks. 1st the fusion block leaked and then the Enzotech SNBW waterblock leaked after running fine for 2 weeks. :mad: Both problems known to manufacturers. :mad:

I've had a hole shot in my schedule by these leeks but if you're still around I may be OC'ing my rig in a week or so.

I got my g0 out and tested it with this board and what a blessing, I can get my ram to run @ 1866 as spec and my fsb is 466 and divider is 266 and its rock solid, I couldnt get anything over 375 fsb stable with my 45nm quad. I am happy with this board now.

None cpu oc improvements so far . Tho i have reached the limit of the cpu so i cannot test it with this cpu but still able to run 540 fsb 24/7.

Going for mem oc improvements now.

I went back for 0904 - I set the same values on 1102 as I got on 0904 (to my QX9650 @ 3,8 GHz for 24/7 ) ... and I got a BSOD on Prime within 5 mins !
Also my CPU-Temp-reading was wrong ! It seems that 0904 ist the only Version which shows my CPU-Temp right !

simri would it be possible for you to mod the 1102 bios for us, with the latest raid roms?

Can someone attach a FireGL V7600 Bios. Ive bought a 2900pro, with a org. FireGL Cooler. So its a FireGL with a 2900pro Bios. But i do not find a FireGL V7600 Bios @Web... so i hope someone can send me or attach one.

Iam pretty sure my Card will work/run with this Bios.
