about 1.7 on NB, 2.54 on DDR,...
i didn't look it it's affordable with less voltage, was only a brief test and applied more or less the settings i was using on p5k-e

New Bios 0502 is out...
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...5E/P5E0502.zip
im on it :P
edit: Didn't erase boot blocks. Rebooted properly... i made the same mistake as before, setting 400x9 @stock voltage (doh)... but i noticed that when i restarted it booted, and when i entered bios nothing was reset, it just said overclock failed after that single restart. never seen that before, always resets BIOS.
And my sleep works again, i hope... Before (501) it wouldn't turn off the fans and start blinking the power button when going into sleep, it would just shut down windows (like to sleep mode), and then spin fans and crash from there. Now i can wake it again ^^
I will see if it solves my 1066 problem, but not now, i dont have time to play games right now
oh and how come this bios is not on www.support.asus.com? Only on their FTP? Did i install some beta bios or what? :p
edit: and oh btw CapFTP... I don't really wanna run permanent 1.7 nb, but I'll try and go to maybe 1.4-5 and see if it will run 1066 (assuming it still crashes with this new bios)
I'll give 502 a try. I have gone through them all. I think they all suck so far except 107.... Here goes nothing....
OK it is on here is a shot of my G.Skill 6400HZ running at holy crap!!!!! It is a good thing it will boot there cuz so far I can set the memory anywhere else!!
I am going to fool with this bios awhile and see what I can figure out about it!
ok this is just completely sick!!! I am goping to be messing with this bios awhile.....

ONE MORE!!!!! @1280 DDR!!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tingcloser.jpg
Nice WeldZilla!!!
0502 do not like my RAM as 0501, 4:5 and 5:6 divider won't boot still exist no matter how low FSB is.
While regarding the issue of CPU Q-Fan do not work, finally I realize that P5E Q-Fan only support PWM Fan
I installed Intel OEM 4-pin PWM CPU Fan and it works very well. But if Asus supposed to do this why don't they mention a single word in the user guide to let their customer know about the limitation? And it's also quite odd if Q-Fan can control 3-pin Chassis fans but leave CPU fan alone.
Okay, ram at 1066, FSB at 400 and Def multi from 9 to 6
dram 2.2v
nb 1.41v
instability of doom :( couldn't get windows up and running, but im assuming this is the low nb voltage, and the CPU divider that :banana::banana::banana:s it up... just would have thought it would run at 1.4 : /
Bios 0804 is now posted on the official ASUS website here: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
This is for the P5E3 Deluxe WiFi.
Well I have been putting 502 to the test and I must say I am liking it better all the time. You can run your memory just about any where you can think of! Right now I am running on the 3:4 divider and it is working very well
Here is a bios shot for you.....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/IMG_0415.jpg
It is running out real nice DDR1133 :yepp:
This bios loves my G.Skill 6400HZ more than it does my G.Skill PC2-8000
2gig x 2 sticks. It doesn't run worth a damn.. But, in all fairness I have not given it enough time yet to say for sure.
I will know more soon about this bios. So far so good.
WZ
GRRRRRRRRRRR.
Tested 0501 and 0502 yesterday and again, both my twin-x sets doesn't seem to work with it. Great work Asus, keep on screwing around :-(
Only 0107 and 0201 working.
Doesn't seem to matter what I do, 1066 will not work.
Random freeze, crashes games etc. no bluescreen, not that bad.
Well, i'm starting to think maybe it has something to do with the huge difference of FSB and DDR in this system:
Q6600, def multi 9 = 266
PC2-8500 = 533
I run 400FSB, multi 6, 1:1 ram... 800mhz
SO
I'm thinkin, that because i run with 9/6=1.5xFSB=600Mhz on my Northbridge, that is under heavy load, and cannot manage 1066 properly.. maybe it has something to do with strap? I still really don't know what strap is, as no one seems to be able to explain it to me :)
So when running default, the difference between FSB and DDR is so big, that it crashes? because 266x2=533 (def ram clock)...
When I get water on it, i'll try and go 400x8, 533DDR, and see if it will run properly.
Btw, it still does the weird crashing thing with sleep, but im beginning to think it's vista and not my hardware that's messed up... I think it's been doing it all the time, i honestly haven't used sleep enough to determine when it worked 100%. Now it seems to work 8/10, and the pattern is kind of random.
btw mullet, is that you having a bluescreen in the bottom left corner of your desktop?
1st the guy in the pic is my 11year-old son playing in the water las August.
Now this new Bios works perfectly with all the dividers that my HZ can reach.
Here are some shots for you to see that they are all very close in performance...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../2by306hot.jpg
I did not post up 1:1 as it was way behind the rest of the pack. It returned a cpu score of 6047which was nearly 100 less than some of the others.
1:1 is not the way to go here...
OK then I turned it up and did some more testing but, I ran out of gas and have to get to bed as I am working this weekend..
But, here is a last shot for the night....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...5fastaqmk3.jpg
This bios really opens this motherboard up. If Asus keeps this up this board will be just fine..
From what I have seen so far 4:5 is a real winner. It only just barely wins each test by the closest of margins but,it does win on the cpu scores so far
WZ
Man I'm sick of waiting for my Wolfdale E8500...
Jan can't come soon enough. I know what me E6600 is capable of and I'm bored with it. :)
Can't wait to pass 4Ghz.
so 502 is worth a shot..... well after seeing those memory clocks i'm really temted..... no ones stating the amount of volts they are using though.... could the people using this bios please add this info for me.... thanks...
I need 2.26 volts to achieve those settings. I will run up to 2.3 with no qualms but any higher than that I start to get nervous. I run a 90mm fan over my memory.
WZ
WeldZilla can you tell us what voltages are you using with the 502?
Hello all, new to this board and generally new to overclocking. I recently overclocked the setup in my sig however I ran into alot of issues because I installed my ballistix in the DDR single channel setup (like a moron/noob :)...atleast I hope thats the cause of my setup failing blend mode on prime within one hour when both cpu and memory are underclocked (After running small fft for 12 hours+ to insure it wasn't cpu)...Well those are my 2 pennies for now I will hopefully update everyone later :)
So, what about SLI?
Intel made all the hoopla that SLI was going to be supported and nVidia has yet to deliver.
The way I see it, once Intel puts the memory controller on the CPU die, then nVidia is going to have to cut some kind of deal with Intel again to support their latest and greatest processors.......no?
So if nVidia doesn't give Intel SLI rights, then Intel can just say SCREW YOU on the boards.
Just saw another thread of P5E MF saying FSB/DRAM divider problem is linked to Transaction Booster setting in the BIOS, so I tried it by changing it from Enable/0 to Auto and that resolve 4:5 and 5:6 problem on 0502! boost up my oc from 400x9/3.6G/PC8500 to 460x8/3.68G/PC8832 with the SAME Vcore/Vdimm:clap: Now there is no reason for me to flash back 0107 anymore.
So if you have divider problem, set TB to Auto or just disable it may help. ;)
Nice find TKC - I've always had it on AUTO and never had any issues or problems some on this board have. Maybe this is one of the reasons?
Doesn't help me on my 1066 ram problem.
TB enabled,disabled,auto... nothing works
same with clock twister.. :(
running 960mhz now
I'm not sure but if you are saying you can not make your ram running stable at 1066, that's a different story from mine.
After flashing to 0502 bios, my board can't even POST with 4:5 and 5:6 divider when Transaction Booster was enabled, no matter how low FSB was used, but now the problem is totally disappeared.
anyone else having an issue setting their ram to 1T in 502? i set it in the bios but cpuz and everest are both telling me its still set to 2T
anyone know if Vdim already OK with 502 Bios???
with other bios Asusuite work and i could see the correct Vdim , but with 502 Bios Asusite dont work anymore...
btw: the Dumper its working???
regards
Asusuite with windows XP and 0502 bios i get error and no information (Mhz, vcore, vdim , ....)
Qfan & aibooster works but for me thats useless , i just want to see Vdim because with other bios like 0107 , 0303 , if you set 1.84vdim in bios = 1.95v Asusite
1.9vdim in bios = 2.0vdim Asusite
and so on ...... ( its Dangerous)
i would like to know if the 0502 bios as the correct voltage or its the same like 0107 and other bios (my asusuite dont work anymore with 0502)
Anyone with 0502 bios and Asusite working OK to see the Vdim ???
regards
It is the same as in the earlier bioses. I set vDim at 1.92 in bios to get 2.1 in Windows (according to Ai Suite).
Ok thnks :(
anyone know if asusite its the real voltage??? (i guess its is)
regards
will the crucial tracers run at 1066 on this p5e board?
DualCore... Do you run any specific voltages on something?
I can't make my BallistiX run 1066 without locking up my system from time to time.
Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 P/N BL2KIT12864AA804 can reach as high as 1172MHz@2.1v and 1232MHz@2.4v in Tom's test using Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP Edition, that's amazing.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/02/...#maximum_speed
hmm...troubles pursue me
I have noticed that alot of times when im trying to install something I get this error telling me how the installation files got corrupted when it was just copied a minute ago! Then some time later I got a super BSOD (super only for its later effects lol) after restarting, when loading windows it would give me a BSOD...running safe mode gave me a BSOD....After doing a slow reformat of my HD and while installing windows, yep you guessed it BSOD (page faule in non page area or something like that)...
I am running bios 0107 and during this my memory (ballistiix ddr2-800) was underclocked at 770~ish with 4-4-4-12 timings. But then I noticed I was using the 4:5 ratio and I remember reading how some people had trouble with this ratio. Could the 4:5 ratio cause my RAM to be unstable and cause some of my files to be corrupted, although it post, install windows sometimes..etc? Or is it the RAM modules themselves and I should just RMA those suckers? I originally thought it was a bad HD not being able to deal with the stress of installing something large, but now it seems to be the memory?
Well TKC I think 1232mhz @ 2.4 volts is kinda weak...
I think 1311mhz @ 2.3 is much better! That's just my opinion.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/WeldZilla/aq.jpg
WZ
By all means M Farkha set your mem on auto and run those timings til you get your system back up then load up bios 502 as it is more liberal on the mem settings.
in the bios leave the FSB Strap to NB set at auto. Then scroll down to dram frequency and set it to auto. It will boot on the 4:5 but it will be a little more relaxed
See if that helps.. I have found it best top allways leave the fsb strap to auto and just adjust the dram frequency after I installed bios 502. Give it a try.
you can also try setting the fsb strap to Northbridge at 266 and leave the dram frequeny on auto like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/IMG_0410.jpg
This worked well for me with bios 107.
Another nice feature with this G.Skill HZ and this board is, if temps are making you hover right at 400 fsb you can just crank your memory to the Xtreme and gain quite a bit of power as a result.
Here at 400 fsb and my memory running on the 3:5 I am running at 1333mhz!! at 2.36v. this pushes my cpu scores up dramatically
from 1:1 or even 4:5 both of those settings will return you around 20,700 at tight timings which is about 1,000 less cpu points then the 3:5.
Here is that shot.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dZilla/aq3.jpg
This was with my 8800GTX running on my gaming settings of 644/1457/1035
Stay patient with this board!! I am finding more out about it all the time. I really like it!!
You may need to rob another healthy ram, or CPU, or both, and install on you mobo to isolate the root cause.
For my own experience regarding memory divider problem on P5E, before I set TB to Auto or Disable, my board itself won't boot with 4:5 and 5:6 ratio. So If you can boot into OS with these divider settings, but not stable enough, I think your problem isn't related to divider setting.
Yeap, but compared to my rig, they are all amazing :)
So after my computer seemed to be apparently stable for a few days I didnt think it was a hardware issue, but rather a software. Updated the bios and everything seemed to work...installed windows, great! Then moved on to install drivers and programs...great! disk defrag....BSOD.
So I decided to run memtest just to double check my ram was good (did a 12 hour memtest loop few days ago seemed to be fine), and it turns out one stick was bad.
However, can one stick go that bad (over 400 erros in < 1 min) over the course of a few days?? 12 hour memtest should have stressed it enough to produce something...I have my bios set to 2.2V, a few posts up say that the actual voltage is higher...so if thats the truth then my RAM modules were running over 2.2V and might explain this...any thoughts?
Is anybody on here running a QX9650 on this board ? I'm trying to figure out what board to get. Been thinking about the Abit's but I have a Asus board now and have for years and really would like to get another one. Thanks:confused:
Hey Gary1951 I would love to have a QX9650 but, they are out of my price range!! Well I could drop the cash on one since I am working overtime all the time here lately but I just can't justify it til the price falls.
I think you would do well to run the processor on a Asus board but, you got to run what you are comfortable with. A couple years ago I would not have considered any board but an Epox. I still have 2 Epox 865 chipset boards in use 1 a 478 board and the other a socket 775. Point is now over the last couple years I can't imagine not running an Asus board. I think you will be happy with any board you chose. I will say the only manufacturer I won't touch even today is MSI. They made some nice boards for AMD but they have yet to build one worth a damn for ands intel rig.
Hey M. Farkha it happens even with the best memory. Every so often you just get a bad stick. I have gotten my share over the years.....
WZ
Happy New Year!! Thanks for your response. I think I will go with this board and a QX9650, Tuniq 120, and 8 Gig of G Skill 1000. I'm a huge Flight Simulator X Player and do alot of Photography stuff. Also EVGA 8800 GTS 512, and a MM H2go case. Do any of you have any thoughts or sugestions? Thanks!!
How do you install a large heatsink on a P5E? I have a Scythe Ninja Rev. B and I cannot get access to one of the bolt holes that is being blocked by the aluminum fins. Can they be removed and reinstalled? Another thing is that I have to rotate it 90 degrees to fit which interrupts the airflow over the lower fins.
You guys must go watercooling :D
Well I agree with STaRGaZeR...Liquid Cooling is the best way to go. But it's not for everyone. Brahmzy is right on the money with his choice of air cooler.
I think your system should fly (pun intended) on flight simulator or any other simulator ,emulator ,game , video ripper / encoder/ photoshopper/ you should be very happy with your choice.
WZ
If you have the bucks to go watercooling, you will never go back. Don't be afraid, mount it is very easy, a kid can do it! And the perfomance is
I guess I'm afraid!!! I would not know where to start. Is there any kits that would be good? I mean I'm clueless. Could anyone give me a idea where to start? Thanks:confused:
yep , thats the only "problem" i found in this mobo , we never know what Vdim we are using :
1.86v bios = 2.0v asusuite
1.92v bios = 2.1 Asusuite
and so on ............
so if the real voltage its the one Asusuite reads if using 2.2v in bios (like you did) its very danger , you might have ~2.4v
its just a matter of someone with multimeter try to find out whats the real voltage (bios or Asusite)
right now i go for Asusite readings , im using 1.88v bios to get 2.0v
regards
hey guys, first post, accout validation took forever :)
after some bad luck with 2 low-fsbwall p5w dh boards, i decided to take things up a notch. just ordered the P5E.
I ordered the Team TXDD2048M1066HC5DC-D 2x 1GB DDR2 PC8500 CL5 memory. some customer reviewers told me these are loaded with Micron D9 which aren't bad for clocking. what do you guys think? These were about 88 euros .. looked at gskill and such but they are overpriced here in the netherlands.
took this topic advice for cooling .. 120 extreme + scythe 120mm.. should post some nice results. just hoping my 8800GT will come in soon.
ps.. waiting out on the cpu .. can get my hands on some sexy Penryn E8400 .. so in the mean time i'll just steal the 6320 from my media center.
Guys i have the P5E too.
There´s a problem with the readings of the temperatures, it goes to -65 to 225, both the system and the cpu, what´s the problem? My bios is the 107, i was thinking to go to the 502, but reading some posts..it´s not a great bios, is it?
I think that 502 is one of the better ones.
0107 and 0502 for me are also the better ones , but all of them suks about Vdim (voltage Bios not same in Windows @ Big difference)
Btw: Here with 0502 Bios the 4:5 divider doesnt work , with 0107 its OK !
regards
mascaras .. quick question .. divider not working .. you mean as in not posting on those speeds or the speeds are incorrectly set and you have to double check them in windows ?
is it wise to replace the adhesive between the PWM/chipset coolers? I heard it's alot of trouble with one guy actually tearing his chipset of the motherboad. Freezing the board helps .. but it's a lot of trouble from what I hear...
i'm like a little boy waiting for christmas, can't wait to see the mailman with my new toys
not posting

ASUS have released a new BIOS for the P5E3
Version 0808 you can download it here
ASUS P5E3 BIOS v0808
Changes are that it officially supports QX9650 and resolves DRAM compatability issue(s)
John
I am new to the watercooling phenomenon.
How much does a decent system cost?
Does it create excess noise?
I can get to 3.6GHz 24/7 on my E6600 on air. What
can I expect on water?
I understand the Penryn's use less power...therefore
less heat, so perhaps the stock heatsink may be sufficient?
HAPPY MOTORING
The "-D" in the end of Team's P/N means the kit is Extreme-Dark series, it's a lower level product line than Extreme series(none Dark), but both of them are using Micron D9 chips, my rig are Extreme-Dark PC2-6400 and you can look into my sig to see how I oc them. I know it's not excellent if compared to some other brands as you saw in this thread but I am totally satisfied with them as they cost me only USD 175 for 4x1G :D, and they are able to run very stable at 1117MHz/5-5-5-15/2.24v for more then 7 hours Memtest test.
Decent system? A very good system is between 200-300$ for CPU only. Add a GPU block if you want (40-50$).
Noise? What's that? :D It only depends of what pump and fans for your radiator you choose, you can build a virtually silent WC setup without effort. Also, you can put 6 damn noisy fans and you'll get sighly better perfomance.
The advantage of water is lower temperature. Lower temperature allows you to run higher volts as temp will remain in the "safe zone". Higher volts result in more overclock as you already know :p: Lower temps at a given voltage may also give you a few more Mhz out of it.
Yes, Penryn dissipates less heat, but we are like before: lower temps = higher volts allowed = more OC.
When you want to change the socket (like when Nehalem arrives) you just have to change the waterblock, and all is perfect again.
If you want more info just go to the Liquid Cooling section, there are true Gurus there that will help you better than me for sure
ok got my new stuff today .. running all stock for now .. just wanted to sample my sexy new 8800
my P5E seems to hate my NEC IDE dvd drive .. keep getting errors when installing Vista? Tried an BenQ DQ60 .. works like a charm (so far)..
must i really go and fetch an NEC SATA drive for this board? me <3 NEC :)
I feel ashamed posting this .. running boxed cooler haha. My TR120E coming next week with my new PC8500 ram.
Anyone else having problems with the IDE controller? The RAID (2x sammie SATA on the ICH) is running without an hitch so far...
hmmm .. ok the problem could be the memory or the cpu. I'm running on some cheap-ass spare DDR2 ram and an E6320 with boxed cooler ... memtest seems to be working just great however when running prime95/prime2004.. i get errors after 2~3 minutes. checked the cpu temps with coretemp .. around 42 ~ 43 ... it don't feel hot either.
hopefully i can get my hands on some testing ram tonight.. till then I'll have to wait till my new ram + cooler get here. the cpu should be fine tough (temp. till penryn)
sorry about the confusing with the IDE drive....
ps. wanted to add .. when testing in prime 2004 with less-RAM or almost-no-RAM options, primes just fine for hours...
Gary, could I quite possible talk you into giving me your credit card?
Quicky .. not that anyone pays attention .. Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU .. any good? Hope so .. just bought one
Hello everyone, if you have ever restored your backup image with True Image 11 on X38 board, please kindly let me know, thank you.
I am using TI 10 with the latest update and not able to restore any backup since upgrading to P5E, TI 10 just can't find any hard drive when booting into Windows Executive envirement, and it's a pity that Acronis didn't want to answer my question directly about X38 compatibility but instruct me to download and try TI 11  .
wow .. only thing i can say is wow .. this motherboard seriously rocks.
with all default settings (auto voltage etc) and memory speed locked around stock speed (due to crap temp. memory) .. i got my 6320 at 425mhz FSB x 7 = 3.0 ghz
got a 18sec superpi 1M with only 1 stick of ram (single channel that is) at 1GB.
that's simply amazing .. consider the possibility of an E8400, some PC8500 ram and serious tweaking ...
let's just say my college testscores won't be high these 2 months
ps... this was all done on a boxed intel cooler
I had the same kind of problems which I posted here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...t=strange+temp
I never did find out what was causing the problem, it seemed the problem fixed itself when I updated the bios to 0502.
Really, I got the problem since 0502
my temp. readouts were bad from the start..
My friends i have something to say about bios 502...
CRAP
The old 107, gives us bad readings, but is very stable.
With this new crap, the Ai suite doesn´t work, the temperature readings are bad to, the stability in OC, is really, really...BAD, and they changed the name to extreme tweaker, please don´t play with us.
I´m not very pleased with this revisions, Asus.
Indeed and if not mistaking normally if you flash the bios with EZflash from
within the bios all settings remain. With 0502 they are all reset to default
When I ran the bios 401 temps were right with all the other temp monitoring software. now with 502 I idle at 7c LOL. Owell maybe soon we will get a good bios.
Is it better to use a 4pin or 8pin for the mobo?
Thx for the response my board came with the 402bios stock how can I downgrade to the 107 ezflash wont let me asusupdate either how are you guys doing it?
not sure but I think it's done by flashing a newer or or the current version and turning off your pc whilst it's flashing. this will result in corrupt bios which you can restore by booting with the ASUS cd in the drive.
NOTE: I AM NOT SURE .. it's in this thread somewhere
Uh who the hell uses the AI suite? Your kidding right?
So who gives a damn when you update your bios everything goes to default?
Just keeps you familiar with your bios. I bet I can rest all my bios and hit F10 and enter in less than 30 seconds. I love the bios on this board! All these auto OC settings and this drivel about saving you OC profiles and using AI suite this is all just garbage and I do not recommend anyone to use it any of it.
you talk about night and day. Some hate it and I have found it to be the best board I have ever used!
And I find the latest bios to be great.....
WZ
I :) Asus
I have to agree with you :) I love 0502 aswell. My OC was rather limited with 0402, but now with 0502 all goes very well :) And indeed, I don't use Ai Suite either, so I'm not missing it :P
Also before I flash a new bios I always reset my system to default :) To then find the best settings with the new BIOS :)
And I really like this board :) Alot more fun to play with then my P5W DH Deluxe was :)
WeldZilla and Skyline GT-R, guys
if you like the 502, try the 107, because it´s the best of them all.
I had the 107, with my 2160 at 3,2ghz(1,39) and the crucial to 1200mhz (2,1v) and with the 502, not heven setting the memos to a 2,3v it was stable, so my precious 107 is realy the very best.
And another problem with the 502, is that the only way to flash to a older bios is to use the crash free, it can´t be done with ezflash or afudos.
Try the 107, and you see:)
Set settings were gone, but as for the saved profiles I don't know. I never save them
Hi, like i'm a new one on XS, i just tell U that bios 0107 roXXX...
My Q6 did not work at 3.7 @ 1.39v on B0502:( but...
When i put the 0107... WOWWW !!!
Did work perfectly @ 3.7 @ 1.376v:clap: in AC
Test under prime95...
guys, i have seen the light .. 0107 is the way to go .. was running great with my 504 bios but yesterday i got my new team extreme 8500 ram .. it gave me memtest errors on any speed.
have tried dozens of config / setups .. couldn't get it to memtest correctly (4000+ errors in 10 sec) ...
corrupted my bios and recovered to 107 ... all was good. 1066 CL5, memtest 100% OK .. gaming went great.
It is a shame tough that 107 doesn't clock as good / easily as 504 (for me at least) .. couldn't get it to run on 425x7 (E6320) ... 504 could easily run 425x7 .. guess wil have to tweak a bit more. a shame .. 504 was great on auto voltages.
I have the P5K-E WiFi.. is it worth going to the P5E for a Wolfdale or not?
Well I am having great success with my configuration using bios 502.
I have used bios 107 and agree that it is a good bios. I was very hesitant to leave it behind.
For my system 502 has given my G.Skill 6400 HZ many more options I can run on virtually any divider and run well with 502. I could not on 107.
I will stick with 502.
That being said if for your particular detup 107 seems to be the perfect bios then by all means run it!! I only feel you should change your bios if YOU are having a particular problem that a new bios addresses. Or you just got to know about the new bios cuz it is there!! And we are all looking for the
Holy-Grail of the Bios Kingdom.
Hey Godsfist, don't get pissed and smack me but, you seem to have had great luck with your P5K-E. It is hard to argue with success. I really like this board but none the less the choice is yours.

I'm having mem issues with 502 as well. So if I crash an update, what do I need to reflash, or will it just auto roll back to 107?
lowtcell .. yes .. take a newer or current version of your bios (501 -> 502 or 502 -> 502) and flash it with EZFlash in your bios. At about 80% of flashing (not checking or deleting, flashing), kill the power to the mobo. This will cause the motherboard to detect some bios bits but not a valid one. When starting the PC again, you'll get a non-interactive oldskool DOS-style recovery envoriment which will check USB, CD-ROM and "external storage" for a valid recovery BIOS.
Insert your motherboard driver DVD, and it will restore the original bios (107 for me...). Great stuff... altough quite scary .. turning off something whilest flashing it's firmware is not something one would call wise :)
