Happens to me too. Its one of the thermal control / speedstep type things. If you loaded your cpu you wouyld see the multi change in CPU-z.

Wha C1E is for ? I mean what's the purpose of this setting ?
it drops multiplier and possibly voltage when system is idle to save power and reduce heat
Any OC diferences from B06 to B07?
This board is TRASH.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOARD PLEASE!
I just got my second one from RMA, and I have spent over 4 hours trying to get an os on it alone....
AWDFLASH hangs
bios 1.0 blows :banana::banana::banana::banana: hard
will not boot from a CD with certain options in bios.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD, ABIT = TRASH.
Funny, mine booted perfectly first time, loaded Vista Home Premium perfectly(in about 10 mins), OC'd to 3.2Ghz straight away (havent bothered seeing how far it will go yet) and has been ultra stable in games and apps.
Either a) you've been really unlucky, or b) you're doing something wrong
wow
Lets count with the past two months only for me,
Evga 680i TR
Evga 680i A1
Quadgt #1
QuadGT #2
Asus Commando
DFI Rd600
P5B DLx #1
P5B DLX #2
Badaxe 2
Abit AW9D Max
Asus P5WDG2 WS PRO
Aopen I975XA-YDG
What about you?
Yes, after hours and hours, I did manage to get it to boot a CD and I had to install windows on the JMICRON to flash to the B07, but THE BOARD IS TRASH ANYWAY
not so true, many P965 boards use both the ICH8R and the JM363 or JM360, and the problems stem from the bioses of those boards.
Asus and gigabyte have both put out bioses that fixed the problems and updated the new boards in retail channels, but abit still puts crap out that does not work.
Again, this is 100% an Abit bios problem. If you do not run RAID or try to enable RAID on the ICH8R than of course you wouldnt see the problem...:slapass:
1) does the ICH8R+JM363 work out of the box? No
2) does the board have upward multis working on Quadcore? (4 cores)No
3) does this board work with SATA burners? not really
4) does this board vdroop horribly? YES
5) does the digital PWM hinder overclocking? YES, even without quadcore
6) do people still get stuck with EIST not working and stuck at a multi of 6x? YES
All of those are clearly abit problems, only the digital PWM and vdroop are not BIOS problems.
WOW this board look awesome I am going to order one from theegg tonight
I fryed my p5b-d so I need a new board and this seems to be the best.
Good work abit
when you have time go over to abit forums to find the latest beta bios which is "B08"...i am using B6R which was modified by a guy named "richh" over in the forum...i like B6R better because it performs a tiny bit better than B08.
http://forum.abit-usa.com/forumdisplay.php?f=48
I know where the bioses are, and Ive used all of the bioses except B08 and B06R.
Once I got a good copy of the B07 bios on the board and working, everything was fine, but that was not easy.
Yes it is, people have seen ~480 FSB with quad on the new revision board out of the box. If you have a QX6700, most of the upward multis work fine, some of the high ones like 15x and higher are a little buggy as far as I know, but the board is great. It has stable voltages and it works very well.Quote:
is that EVA A1/T1 the newer version?
how high can i go on a quad-core with that board...my Q6600 will go to 420 on the QuadGT but i have to stoke it with a lot of vcore...so..i live with 380 fsb and a more moderate vcore.
isn't that board pricey?
lol Seems like someone has a hard to figuring out bios's =/
had a few boards too in the past 3-4 months and i have to say that this one is one of my fav ones , im not using RAID or SATA burners "maybe thats why" but it take me high FSB i run this thing @3.6 24/7(bios B6R) sooo stable
i also had the 680I (but first rev) and i can tell u that this one beat that $hit out of it
ive been looking to buy another HD to try RAID , maybe i can talk $hit about it after the RAID :)
Sorry fhpchris for all the troubles QUADgt is giving you
BTW whos running RAID 0 or ! here on the super duper QUADGT? with B6R?
i am going to give intel raid a chance in a couple of days...i will report back..currently, i run raid on an Areca raid card.
Dun worry man,
This is a known issue on my side...
I have made know to my local distributer...
But they juz turn me away saying all my hardware is faulty..
N I've tried 3 boards in my shop for 3 different customers..
All failed to install windows...
Only after resetting cmos 10 over times,
did i managed to get it in...
And the moment i adjusted the bios settings, windows gets corrupted...
Lucky i found u guys in this thread,
Flashed the B02 bios, and now everything is running smoothly...
Any my customers r all happy too...
ITs still a great board, i feel....
I'm on B06 now... :)
FHPCHris,
The bios you haven't tried B06R is the one I think that you should of tried.
No multi or speed stepping issues with this one and quad cores.
I'm new to Raid, but have got Raid-0 running, no problems.
The PWM temps have been fine for me. On the 6600 they were around 40-50, on the Quadcore they go up to about 60 on full load. I have a small fan screwed into the top of the heatsink.
The board compared to my commando is marginally faster as well.
I've tried over the last few months
AW9D-Max
P5B-Deluxe
PW5DH
Commando
and the QUAD GT.
So far this is my favorite board.
The EVGA 680i (Second revision) has got my interest though, just a pity they don't seem to sell them here in Thailand.
As we all know when buying a motherboard, it's a bit like buying a cpu, some perform better than others, even if they are the same model.
Just my experiences so far, albeit not xtreme ones. Playing it safe with this QX6700 at the mo.
RLM
I've just bought the board and i am having a stupid problem.I can save all my settings to bios except those to uGuru. Every time i make a change to UGuru at the next boot the board shows the message : Cpu has changed please go to cmos and re enter cpu settings. Press F1 to continue or Del to enter Bios. So the problem is after flashing all bios either from flash menu either from dos the board can not save my setting to the Uguru.
So what about RAID, still problems with newest bios?
Im trying to decide between QuadGT and Infinity P965. Have to wait and see what kind of issues will surface when Infinity P965 gets widespread, with QuadGT i could get one right away after easter.
can someone give me a little help with the voltages? I don't know what is safe on the new p965 boards. Here is my current voltages orthos stable 8hrs and all afternoon gaming.
http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/4...agesni2.th.jpg
Havent had more then 4 c2d boards the past 4 months but this one is easily the best one im almost in love with it... after having 3 pos asus boards it doesnt take much perhaps but still im amazed how easy it was to set up.
Ich8r is ide controller ? dont remember if so then it worked fine out of box for me. HAvent tried ride yet though.
Havent noticed any worse vdroop then my previous boards , havent really checked that much.
Pwm get a little warm though but a silent 120mm fan took care of that = )
Eist working aswell both on and turning it of.
havent had time to try oc as much as i wished but 3.6 took 5minutes 3.8 needed alittle more v. My ram flies compared to p5b that doesnt have a working 4/5 divider now stable at 525Mhz 4 4 4 10 would like subtimings in bios though.
//smurf
I agree with u on the memory dept (and we all know that 680I is one of the best for Ocing memory), and when i said 400 fsb i didnt mean thats the highest i can do on my quadgt i can do 525(some programs benchable) fsb and 530 but not stable
the max ive done with the memory is 552 or so ,
i agree with you Ajfina, i can post and do some stuff as high as 525 and cant seem to get the ram any hihgher then about 550 or so no matter what memory i use in it
as far as the other problems im not running raid so i cant comment on that but other then that install of windows and everything else was a piece of cake
i am NOW!;)
i had to go from B6R to B08 to finish the 32 bit install of Vista Ultimate....the install worked up to a point with B6R..once i finished the flash it would complete the install...i am running Raid 0, 128K Stripe...
next try will be the 64 bit version.:)
EDIT:...i have a NEC IDE DVD writer on the Jmicron controller..no sata optical.
Guys...a little help here.
I went from P5WDH DLX to Abit QuadGT....
Everything was running smooth on p5w...but on abit, on stock settings im having laggy keyboard, and artifacting on my x1900.
Am i missing something here?
Fresh install of XP
Latest drivers for X1900
Stock CD drivers from abit CD (have to try latest drivers from website)
RIG:
E6400
2x1gb Micron D9GHM
FSP 600w
Sapphire X1900XT
Everything running at stock.
THanx a lot guys...im really pissed off.
QuadGT11.zip
1. Burn ISO to a blank CD.
2. Boot from the CD and select the Start Computer With CD-Rom support option.
3. Navigate to your CD-Rom (X:) where X is the letter.
4. Execute B08.BAT to flash with B08 Bios OR 11FINAL.BAT to flash with 11 Final Bios[Note 1]
5. After it is flashed turn off the power and reset the CMOS (The swithch it the back)
I found the M621E_11.BIN along with the M621E_11.B08 in the same archive. The M621E_11.BIN has the date Yesterday, April 04, 2007, 8:22:08 AM.
This could be the 11 final but it was not announced yet. the CRC32 of this file is: DCA0C809.
Hmmm, I have the B6R BIOS and I also get some artifacts on my 7900GT, just after I bought AB9 QuadGT. :(
I'm using the B08 right now and I will flash with 11Final? as soon as i get home. B08 works fine.
I packaged the ISO with both bioses for convenience. B08 works 100% so you can flash away. The 11Final is not tested by me yet. If there is anyone who can't wait 5 hours for me to report my findings please flash away. (Only for the Truly Xtreme)
Instead of searching this huge thread I'll just ask a quick question.. Does anyone have any issues running the 1:1 533 divider?
when memory gets over 500 fsb 1-1 i cant get it to boot :( so 4.5 gig ddr2 1000 :) so yes and no :)
I was trying 1:1 400fsb x8 on a Q6600 it just wont do it.. I am also wondering if this board or cpu doesnt like using the 8x multi.. Still much more testing to be done though:) I think I'll flash to the newer bios as well.
The original 10 BIOS is more or less useless even under the most undemanding situations.
Well...didnt flash yet...but artifacts dissapeared..and mouse lag too.
It was ati driver related.
Im back to Catalyst 6.9 for now...
Going to flash to B08 tonight and see what happens.
Thanx a lot guys.
I was halfway through my bios flash and it froze (at stock speeds) so my board is a brick now:(
Not very nice. :( :( A UPS should be used and I also don't have that... guess I'll stick to B6R awhile. :(
What how ... you didnt flash in dos ?:slapass:
Sorry to hear that bro...there has to be a way to bring that sucka back to life.
Anyway...is there a way to control those leds that are on the other side of the board...i didnt even know that this board had those until they lite up yesterday night.
Like a dumb a$$ I flashed with Winflash (which says it supports) and it froze at 43%.. I'll just get another bios chip I think and it'll be just fine..
@ VIctorj There are controls in the bois for the lights..
when you go into bios go to uguru part and go to the right like high right key and you sould get a hole new page :)
From what I gather you shouldn't notice any difference to b08.Quote:

It is not a newer BIOS build than beta 8, in any way. Ergo if you are already running B08 there is no point whatsoever flashing this BIOS
There's no such thing as "B011", and the sooner people stop referring to that file by that name the less confusing it'll be.
That file posted above that people are referring to as "B11" is renamed 11B08, period. The only "cleaning up" that's been done on it is that it doesn't have the beta identifier on the POST screen, and the ID string says 11 instead of 00. Aside from those two cosmetic changes the file is identical to 11B08 in every respect.
This "cleaning up" means that it looks like a release candidate, yes. However, Abit did something very similar with beta 6 a few weeks back, and as we all now know, that BIOS did not get released.
It would be well worthwhile for people to not get into the habit of referring to this file as a beta 11, as it's then gonna get very confusing if beta 9 or 10 subsequently escapes!
I have a big problem, I can't go to the BIOS anymore ....
If I press DEL, the boot freezes during the Jmicron unit detection .
If I don't press DEL, the system boots normally and fail to load XP which is normal since I use RAID0.
To solve the problem I tried many times the Clear CMOS behind the motherboard, I tried to reflash the B08 BIOS, the B07, I tried to unplung the CDROM that was connected to the Jmicron, still in vain ...
I absolutely have no idea left to solve this ...
Go into bios right then go to uguru when you see like clock speed and such
just click to the right there a hole other section of options :)
ahhh man nikid32, did you turn off or reset the system your self and were you running vista at all
i read somewhere that sometimes this is a screen freeze but everything is still working on the inside but everyone resets it thinking it froze up on them (i did the same thing and had to order a new bios chip)
but apparently in most cases if you just leave it for a long enough time before restarting/reseting your system then the flash will be allright and youll have the new bios, has to do with the desktop doing some thing and making it look like its frozen
Im running B08 right now...no problems yet...just cant pass 400fsb...(not that i tried that hard tho)
Are you guys up to a "post your settings on QuadGT" thread?
Didn't get a chance to flash yet... but if thats a B08 relabeled as 11 then its pointless to flash...
every thing max volts Ftw ??? :)
whats the best bios to run a RAID 0?
There are better and cheaper options out there. This board is not well supported. They are taking their sweet time in releasing a new bios. Its been what, 3 months?
I am having a little trouble booting into windows at 480fsb w/cpu 1.36v dd2 2.3v 1:1 4-4-3-10 mch 1.6v Maybe I will try tightening my memory timings. So far I love this board:D Also I am not having the PWM high temp issues. I am still using bios B06.
i agree my dfi is on the way :)
I got the Kentsfield ES B0 up and running now. I had to put in another RAM-stick to make it boot, then I could put the other ones back. *strange* Currently I am running 350*9. I have not tried anything else, i just wanted to confirm that the FSB works better on this board than my 'new revision' of the EVGA-board. ;)
May I ask what voltages you use for 425*8? And cooling for NB?
I think my e6400 has an fsb wall near 410fsb... ¬¬
No matter how high i raise volts...loose timmings...it still unstable past 400.
Those with quadgt and e6400, mind posting bios settings?
Thanx guys.
have a look at my sig ...
doing orthos blend tests for some days now at different vcore settings. i can run orthos blend for 8 hours most of the times at 1.4875v vcore. once i stopped orthos after 24 hours! right now orthos blend failed after 2 hours at this setting. have no idea why the result varies that much.
anyway, lowering voltage under 1.4875v and blend runtime goes down. the same if i increase vcore above 1.4875v! will give this some more runs before i go to raise vtt and/or vmch ...
no problems with the temperatures as i'm on water. temps start to raise above 50c after running orthos blend for hours at 1.4875v.
Thanx guys...going to try that later...bios 10 is? B08 or what? ...Im having a bit of trouble identifying bioses.
EDIT: Damned...i dont have that 1.4875v on my bios...am i running a different release? ¬¬
Anyway...i tryed raising vtt to 1.3...and is still unstable past 430.
Also, it seems that sometimes (when unstable) i lose onboard soundcard...WTF!?
Might as well be my e6400...i need to find a golden one it seems. :P
Any ideas?
EDIT2: Im on msn if anyone wants to help me on the fly ...PM me your email :P ...thanx guys!
such as?
(don't say Gigabytes or 650i because imo they aren't & at least here the P5B Deluxe is dearer & it doesn't look problem-free either)
a little over 2 but the betas should cover 99% of the problems.Quote:

what would you guys say is resonably safe voltages for vmch nb cpuvtt and the rest of them ?
Not afraid to push a little but dont want to kill the mb either = )
first off, I'd for sure pull off the heatsink on the northbridge and change to a better thermal compound. Then put a 50mm or something blowing down to keep it cool.
After that's said and done, try to go no more than 1.60vmch, and around 1.55vtt. Less than 1.8vsb/pcie, and 1.2ish vich.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...04&postcount=8 for what intel says.
obviously, some of them are extremely low. For instance, vtt, cpu can handle a decent vtt (same as vcore, although not mentioned in the post I linked). But vtt on the northbridge side is real damn low. But you shouldn't need much vtt at all up until 500 or so, where you start to need a bit and then more and more.
I see you're using c2d. quads on the other hand have shown to need more vtt in order to respond to 400+ usually.
ichio is also known as sb/pcie. not sure what the qgt says. you shouldn't need more than +0.1 or +0.2 (1.6, 1.7) if that.
ich I'm not too sure of, since max and abs max have such a huge difference. seems like somewhere under 1.3v should be ok, but don't quote me on that.
don't be disappointed if you cannot get to high on the FSB with a Quad core...check my specs...420 is the max for me but i have to shove the volts right up its butt;) ...almost every setting has to go real high on the voltage to sustain 420 fsb...if the vcore was lower to hold 420, i would be there but 1.6-1.62v is a bit much for me on air.
yeah looks like ill be jumping to the dfi a soon as newegg gets it.
this board has served me VERy well though. it will be sad to see it go, but i really want to go for 600mhz ram on the 1066 strap. :p:
anybody try the EVGA A1 or T1 board with the Quad-core?
My result today ;)
