You can try higher values. It is possible that it works and that your memory runs stable like that to but following JEDEC specs can never be wrong.:up:

you convert tref number it to hex then sum c000 to it and replace what is bold with what you got in "CF117600".
for example:
4500T = 1194h
1194h + C000h = D194h
so you get CFD19400
actualy, CF117600 shouldnt get you tref of 4470T at all, dunno i never tryed direct values, i did according to this POST, that gives you formula that i wrote above.
It works I tried it.
For tREF 4360T Decimal 4360 -> Hexadecimal 1108
CFCC3000 -> CF110800 that gives me 4360T.

I don't know what JEDEC specs are with regard to the highest point for TREF (16383), but with 1:1 scaling, this highpoint is reached at 475/6 FSB. The hex code is 3FFF so to do the change, all one has to do is, using bar edit:

How do you clr CMOS on this motherboard?
In the manual, it says to press on the CLR CMOS switch at the rear panel while the system is running?
isn't the correct way, is to shutdown first the computer and then press on this switch?

Iīm planing to buy the G.SKill DDR2-RAM PI 4GB Kit DDR2 PC2-9600 (F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI) CL5 to run a PL of 6.
My math calculation for this is:
[tRD- (tCL/N)]>[x/N]. tCL=5, N=memory divider 4:3 at a FSB of 450 MHz, X=2.
Given is [6- {5/(4/3)}]=2,25 that should be greater than [x/(4/3)]=1,5.
The calculation is correct because 2,25>1,5
That means, the PL 6 should run on my system in future.
So far the caculations. But the 0803 bios doesnīt calculate the tREFS correct. No matter what the memory divider is, I always receive 3120T, when it supposed to be 4680T (7800/ (1000/600). I could change it by using memset. But thatīs not the point.
I expect the bios to set the tRFEs correct. Does anybody know, when the asus bios programmers will fix this bug?
Will my system get unstable, when I am running it with wrong tRFES?
I think the wrong tREFS calculation is not a problem of itīs one. It reaches the stability of our systems, wouldnīt it?:down:
PL 6 isn't a problem with the 2 X 2 Giga G.SKILL PC2-9600. I did some testing before sending the memory back for RMA.
I tested the good stick with 8 X 450MHz, DRAM 1200MHz 1.8V in the BIOS (1.82V real), PL 6 Ai Clock Twister Moderate, NB 1.33V in the BIOS (1.31V real). I could pass MemTest86+ V2.11 without errors with these settings.
When are the ASUS BIOS programmers going to fix tREF problem in the BIOS?
I have no idea. They aren't in a hurry to fix that. They probably won't fix it at all.:down:
Hey guys - been out of action for quite some time now. Been backtracking and reading back because I've lost all my settings for my QX9650 (d'oh!) for 4.3-4.5Ghz
Originally I had stock watercooling and bugged out ~435FSB with BIOS 0308. Since changing my RAM and cooling though, I seem to have unlocked further FSB - nearly 500! (hurray!)
Anyways, I don't see many posts with the QX9650 - so what's the best BIOS for this chip now? I'm guessing there's been some changes, but back then 0308 was best for memory - don't know if there's much better now?
Hoping to do ~480FSB*9, maybe even 500FSB if it's possible on water? Got over 2x as much cooling power than I did last time where temps maxxed out around 70c :D

As long as I am using this board, I remember the 0308 bios was the best for my system at all. I squeezed out 1,186 mhz with my OCZ 8500. Only the voltage of 2.31v was too much english for the 24/7 use. So I decided to give up and being satisfied with 1,080 mhz.
The 0308 bios calculated the tREFs at 16,383T which was good for the memory stability.
@A-Grey,
makes it any difference, if Iīll use the blue or the white memory sluts for the G.Skills 9600 ?

Yeah Adata Extreme 1200's + BIOS 0308 = 1400MHz Stable! :P
I use the white 1s, I always hear how they're meant to be "better" - but no complaints my side on this so......

If you want 16383T use MemSet V4.0, save the setting and let it load that timing on system boot.
Why do they say that? It's probably the DRAM Clock Fine Delays that makes them say that the blue slots are better.
With DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A/B on Auto you get 4-2-4-2. My OCZ Reapers HPC PC2-8500 like DRAM Clock Fine Delay 4T. Using slots 2 and 4 with DRAM Clock Fine Delay 2T is probably going to give me problems to run my memory at 1117MHz. I could say that slots 1 and 3 are better than 2 and 4. That's ridiculous because all I have to do is set the right DRAM CLK Skews for the slots that I'm going to use.
To answer your question. Once I get those G.SKILL PC2-9600 back from RMA I'm going to use slots 1 and 3 and leave DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A/B on Auto.

I questioned for "the right memory sluts" because one stick wouldnīt fit with their headspreder under my Thermalright IFX-14. It does not seem to be a question of the right sluts but of the right DRAM Clock Skew settings.
Another quest to MemSet V4.0. Do I get you right, that one time save setting plus load will change the tREFs after the next system boot and so on ?
