Now that I have gotten my Raid drivers figured out I can actually start some tweaking. I wanted ask some question to people that are using the board. Right now I am using stock cooling with a Zalman 9700 and AS5. I will be water cooling soon, but I am wondering if I need to add the NB in the CPU loop if I am not going to be doing any extreme fsb settings. I had my Q6600@3.6 with a 450fsb and was hoping for a little more once the h2o is complete, but 24/7 is goal will be 3.8ghz. Would there be an easier air cooling option that would dump extra heat in my loop? I will be running 2x4870 1gb so space is a concern.
I will be doing dual loops. One for both gpus and one for cpu and nb. I am going to start tweaking this evening and hopefully end up with a decent OC for now. My only concern right now is how far I can go with 4 1gb sticks of Dominator ram. I have been told/read that using all for slots uses a lot of power and can be unstable.
FSB to 345 or 380mhz, and multiplier to 11 or 10x fails BSOD v up 1.6v
testing prime
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.63 - 1.50v ok custom
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.50v fails custom
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.63 - 1.52v fails custom small FFT
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.52v fails custom
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.55v ok custom
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.48v ok custom
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.63 - 1.46v ok custom
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.63 - 1.44v fails small FTT
NB GTL x.63- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.46v fails small FTT
NB GTL x.63- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.50v fails small FTT around 12th cycle
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.65 - 1.50v fails small FTT with +1Cpu & pll Vtls
customīmode works much better ???
Passed Small FFT
NB GTL x.67- CPU GTL x.63 - FSB 1.52v . CPU 1.46875v CPU PLL 1.56v NB 1.55v meaning i had to go +1 click on the vlts

Consider your self lucky.
My Q6600 appears to be showing an onset of HIGH-FSB-ITIS. It throws random calculation errors in Linpack above 410mhz FSB. But below so far it seems fine. Guess it's had a rough life and retirement is forthcoming.
Time to rape the performance level and cross clocking skews instead and see if I can make a measly 408mhz FSB a little more exciting!
Perhaps your chip is showing its age like mine :) They won't take lots of voltage forever you know :)
At least I have something to be happy about Prime95 won't fail for me at all! It refuses to give me errors, Linpack is the only app that can push my CPU hard enough to show the detereoration it seems. I can still run Prime95 for 12hrs and it passes. I run 2 or 3 8min Linpack runs, and b y the 2nd or 3rd i'm getting one or two calculation errors from 17 problems.
So I started in on some tweaking last night. Things went well for the most part and I am currently at 410fsb. What strap should I be using to keep my memory at 1:1? Right now it is at 400, and I have my ram right at 1060. I am also not sure about "skew" settings. I am not really sure what they do, but I would like to know how to adjust them. Right they are on auto. I have my chip at 1.49v atm, but that isnt fined tuned at all. The quad is actually getting a little warm, but for now its only for testing. I will see how low I can set it later. How high of temps can I let the quad go while in Prime? I am not to worried about longevity on the chip, but I dont want to kill it either.
New BIOS 803 on Asus FTP site here
I guess it it 802 renamed :(
Wow, been a while since I have visited this thread.
Ok, well, before I even get into some more OC questions with this board, I am looking to change my E8400 out for a quad but unsure what look at for this board. I see lots with 6600's, but I am assuming that is because of budget purposes? Just curious, what quads should I look into? Budget is a concern of course but I am looking at $300 as a limit for the CPU.
What do you all think?
Thanks.
Neh not budget, just this board clocks 65nm quads really well ;) X48 is a 90nm chipset, so it's more aligned to the 65nm cpus. None the less it clocks 45nm chips really well too :)
Other thing is a lot of us bought this board just when 45nm chips were coming out so we already had Q6600s that have been venerable enough to not replace :)
If you are looking into quads go for the Q9550 :)
What is the best Bios so far for this board. I have been using 0401 for 9 months now with no issues. I would like to know if there are any significant fixes in Bios that I am not benefitting by not upgrading.
Thanks in advance
Hey guys have q6600. If one core fails, GENERALLY where would you look first or what's the first setting you would GENERALLY go to adjust? Thanks.
Just made this thread. http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/....php?p=3688585
Looking to get some answers on a single or dual rad just for the VGA. In case anyone know pls let me know. thanks
Is it bad of one core if faster then the others in Prime 95?
