Not here. That's why I still use Auto. I swear I didn't reactivate SpeedStep or anything, so perhaps ASUS is detecting the power requirements just as well as Core Temp detects the right temperatures. So far, no place I looked said 55C was a good idle temp...Quote:

Sometimes my mobo, under overclock, when I reset the PC it clears the BIOS, just like a free clear cmos, it did never happen to you??
I am running a E6400, 400FSB, full stable, but this problem persists even with this latest BIOS, 2704.

Battery should be slightly over voltage if it's good. Going below rated voltage means that the battery is wearing out.
Ok... BIOS 2704... I had some issues with it at first, but am now actually quite happy with it.
- Here's why:
@ first, BIOSS was strangely sluggish, and I could not seem to change my multi downward (I could but it wouldn't "stick" on reboot).
Per previous suggestion, I cleared CMOS, and still had same issues.
- However - During this time, I also managed my highest stable OC to date, so sluggishness aside, I left as-is.
Now for the weird part - I moved into a new apartment two days ago, and upon setting up my rig, I noticed the P5W DH splash scrren come up (I always shut this off). I went into the BIOS to disable, and found all settings had been reset, sluggishness was gone, and I can change my multi again! - My Dad packed up my rig, so I am suspicious that something occurred that reset the CMOS, which doesn't thrill me, but everything's working now, so no worries...
I am running a 65nm X3220 Quad @ 3.4GHz, 2GB Corsair @ 954MHz w/ decent timings... not experiencing any voltage issues (aside from a slight vdroop that I always have to take into account w/this board, no weird issues with the nic or onboard sound either (which I experienced during high fsb overclocking with an E6400). I am running Mac Leopard 10.5.2 w/all updates, and even need to have a couple of odd things set up in the BIOS to get Leopard running.
So long story short: I cannot speak to the performance w/ 45nm on this board, however I have been using the DH for a good long while, and it is performing better these days than I have ever seen it (w/ my current setup).
- In all fairness, I should also note that this is my second DH. I purchased my first in Mar. of '06. It died exactly one year later, and I RMA'd for a new one. The new DH is rev. 1.040, if that makes a diff.

when i put the divisor on 1:1 (fsb/ram), the windows started, but when i tested the the over in the orthos, and 2 second later, the machine simply stopped, and i need to restart the pc...
my config: E6750, crucial ballisitx tracer 800mhz (the best batch)

an update I am still on 2704 and its still stable no crashes etc.
Regarding voltages both C1E and speedstep will reduce the voltage on idle the difference is how they increase the clock speed on activity.
C1E - I believe raises clock speed/voltage whenever the processor is taken out of HLT.
speedstep - requires cpu utilisation to be above a certian % before it adds juice.
so C1E is less impact on performance but in turn saves less power and heat.
If you enable speedstep and C1E is disabled I dont know if it still reduces voltage alongside the clockspeed I cannot remember :)
I may be blind, but I no longer see an EIST setting to enable or disable under 2704. Virtualization is stuck enabled since I'm not allowed to touch it. Where was EIST set, and is it available to any 45nm CPU?...
I have the same E6750, first try to set memory to lower mode 600MHz, and then test only CPU. Disable all power saving features such as C1E mode, ESST. If it can't work add CPU voltage, my CPU can work at nominal 1,35V only for a while and fails in most tests, fully stable at 1,425V. If nothing helps try to add voltage on MCH to 1,65V. When you get normal work at 3.2GHz you can set memory speed back and power saving features if want.Quote:

Plz guys don't push ya beloved P5W's... Do not go over 1.6MCH voltage and 400 FSB with Conroes... on the stock NB... Things will go downhill from there : resulting in erratic behaviour and NB degradation, resulting in a lesser FSB to become stable again... if you feel the need to push 400FSB and above go P35 for a cheap solution...
@NTVH : no need to go X48 mate, any P35 will handle any current CPU nicely...(unless you want to go flatout on Crossfire) since you got all those NB/SB stuff pick ya mobo wisely...
I ran my E6420 @ 3.44Ghz (430 x 8) for a year and a half at max vMch (1.85v?) and nothing happened.
I only put some AS5 and took off the metal caps from the nb and sb.
Count yourself very lucky then, I fried 2 of them in just over half a year... not everyone here replaces the TIM or upgrade it's cooling,... some boards sustain the abuse, some just give in... I just share my experience with the board and I loved it for each minute it ran...Quote:

In my days, there were few P5W's that did 440-450FSB stable, combine that with the extra strain on the memory controller due to the E8400... I'm pretty sure that you will have a very very hard time to get there... let alone be stable... Just for a quick comparison... on my P35 I'm currently burning in an E8400 at 3.6ghz at 1.1Vcore and 1.4Nb voltage, setup done in 15 secs... 3 hour stable till now... overclocking on the P35 is a breeze... Sorry to say but it's time to upgrade unless you settle for 400-425 FSB or such...Quote:

yeah...i'm thinking to buy other..evercool buffalo it's a great choice..here in brazil, this cooler is the most cxb...i'm testing my cpu now..i put 395 fsb and memory 1:1...1 hour e 30 minutes stress on orthos , and it's stable...when the test reach 2 hours, i wanna stop...if i put the memos, a diferent fsb/ram 1:1, the pc don't boot..later i gonna post somes screens :)

The intel controller can use either ide, ahci or raid mode. The latter 2 only allow write caching on raid configs. The ide mode doesnt support NCQ slowing down my raptor os drive. But raid/ahci slows down the other drives on the controller making things like gaming and multimedia worse.
The solution for me is to put the raptor on the jmicron sata port install the drivers and I get ncq + write caching best of both worlds. Run the intel controller in ide mode which works best for the other drives. The jmicron is in basic mode allowing the pata drives to run off it also. Some of the jmicron drivers are buggy with delayed write failures but that issue seems to be fixed on the last 3 driver versions now.
Added support for the latest Core2 Duo E7200, E8300 :) And for even unknown E7300
E7300, if it will be released, will be best CPU, 10x multiplier and 1066FSB, which give 4GHz simply at 1600FSB, so everybody can overclock it on our P5W :)

Just installed a E2160@2.88 (Vcore Auto with EIST/C1E) on my now spare P5W (BIOS 2406) with a self done vLite slipstream Vista x64/SP1 - works really great with no problems doing S3 sleep/resume. Got to install the latest Intel chipset (got mine off MSI) as well as the Asus ATK0110/Realtek Wireless (available on Win updates) drivers to remove all traces of unknown devices in the Device Manager.Quote:

Tried a new install today on a PATA harddisk on ICH7 with the same self done vLite slipstream Vista x64/SP1 source DVD on JMicron PATA and that irritating "config disk" has appeared once so far. Had to install the JMicron RAID drivers later to get S3 to work right too else the PATA ODD disappears on resume. Managed to edge the E2160@2.92GHz Auto Vcore.

Hmm try latest 2704, in which they officially support E7300, Q9300 C1. I haven't see any changes in overclocking with all last versions, because all power saving features always off.

Sound very bad such low FSB with dualcore, is it bad mb or which FSB it can handle with 65nm dualcore?
It's time to upgrade lads to get some decent FSB out of a newer CPU... latencies on the NB are way too tight to handle these new CPU's at 400 plus FSB...

Korgan not all P5W boards went as good, not even guruanteed on the newer MCH improved versions, I had the luck to be owner of one with 440FSB out of the bios, but sadly it died due to some electrical powercuts at my place, the RMA board was a newer rev but didn't clock as good... went to the Striker then (worst decision ever lol)
Peeps that have this board for a long time must be happy it still supports the newer rev CPU's... OC'ing is never certified and varies from board to board, user to user,... and if ya want to push these CPU's hard more bios options are required which the P5W really lacks (but all boards of it's age do)

I am currently running the P5W w/ 2GB or RAM. I have run it with as much as 4GB in the past. I have recently been working with multiple VM's under Vista x64 (Disregard my sig, no longer running OSX), and MAN does it get bogged down easily. I am looking to upgrade to an 8GB kit, as it's so darn cheap, but wondering if anyone has had issues w/ 4x2GB kits on this board?
Here are the modules I am looking at, as I have had very good luck with G.Skill in the past, and right now I am looking at value over decadence. :)

Mm get 4,18GHz fully stable at FSB 440 with my new E8500: 1.425V at CPU, 1.75V at MCH. Only set these voltages, test several hours, later I try to test at lower voltage.
11.145sec Super PI 1M, 73k in 3DMark 2001, seems to be nice for old 975 board?
PS. My old E6750 can't work at FSB 440 at nominal or even at lowerst 6x multiplier, so it wasn't limitation from mb, that I think, it was limitation from CPU wall.

I just recently ordered a 4GB kit of Corsair XMS2 DHX. I had trouble turning it on the first time, but I did get it to work without resetting the CMOS.
Now, at proper voltages and timings, I'm having trouble with my overclock (Code 1 in OCCT). I was able to get 413FSB @ 1.3375v in BIOS and have my Hynix FP-C4 RAM boot at 310MHz. Now, I can't get 410 FSB at 1.35v with 410MHz on the Corsair (still Code 1 in OCCT). I tried to up the MCH voltage (from 1.55v to 1.65v) , but that was a no go.
Any ideas out there?
Edit: Runing an E6300 and BIOS 2004. Would an updated BIOS be helpful, and if so, which one?

As for your OC, I ran these modules at 945MHz to bring my OC to 3.4GHz (9x378) timings were still good enough to be worth it at this speed. I'd have kept these modules if I didn't need so much RAM for the work I am doing these days. Ended up upgrading to 8GB G.Skill.
P.S. Vista LOVES 8GB RAM!! It is sooo much faster than XP now for a lot of things. Superfetch is awesome if you have enough memeory for it to not bog down your system.
You're going to love them. I am running them now and WOW what a difference. Check out Tom's Hardware, they ran some tests w/ vista and 8GB of RAM that are pretty interesting.Quote:

I would consider this a minor bug in the BIOS. However, by leaving the Ratio Support disabled so that EIST remained an available option in the BIOS, disabling it, then enabling Ratio Support (EIST becomes hidden as the result), and finally disabling C1 control, full control over Vcore is available.

At last test E8500 on P5W DH Deluxe and get 2 stable modes with lowest voltages tested for many hours:
4.04GHz: FSB425 MCH 1.65V CPU 1.37V
4.20GHz: FSB443 MCH 1.75V CPU 1.5V
(Edited CPU voltages, now after 24hour Prime95 test)
Also start at FSB460 with MCH 1.85V, count 1M SuperPI (10.6sec), play several games for while, but don't want to take for a long test with such high voltage

I can only get up to FSB400 with the e8400 bringing it up to 3.6 ghz.
And i had to underclock my G.Skill to 600 mhz....
EDIT: I re-read an earlier post of yours, reverted all of my settings back to auto except for the two you said to change and am up to 3825 mhz with the e8400 at 425 mhz FSB :)

And I had to underclock the ram for all 8gb of it to work. It simply wasn't stable @ 800 mhz with all 4 slots filled up.
The same with RAM, mb have serious problems with memory at FSB400 and 4 RAM modules. My 2*1GB Hynix'05 work best with frequirences upto 900MHz, I buy another 2*1GB labeled Hynix'07 , they can reach even 1GHz, but all 4 modules can't work at even nominal 800MHz, then FSB is 400(1600), only at lower 600MHz multiplier they all can work, so I returned new modules back.

That's quite normal. Chipset is struggling with 4 modules cause density of modules. Actually, it's excellent they're working at all at 400mhz fsb. Try to raise MCH voltage a little bit and see would that help ;)Quote:

Nothing can help to work 4 modules at FSB 400 at full 800MHz speed. Even rising memory voltage or MCH voltage. At FSB 333 or lower they all can work and can be overclocked. Maybe only some exteme latency modules can work at 400FSB, but I haven't them. But it's easier to use very cheep 2*2GB if needed 4GB of RAM, WinXP users can be happy steel with 2*1GB. 8GB (4*2) it's for some special programs, not much need it, or can lower memory frequirency.Quote:
